I think if a warden issues a ticket incorrectly and the appeal is succesful, their wages should get deducted. They'd still have an incentive to issue tickets, but they'd also have an incentive to get it right, rather than slapping tickets on cars left right and centre.

It was a great acheivement, but "sports personality of the year" would be a mistake. He's not a sportsman, just a regular guy who decided to do something remarkable. It doesn't make him a world-beater.

I think there are other reasons, apart from the creation of modern day Pakistan. Increaed immigration, travel, global awareness, increased prominence of Asian countries, etc.

I think we also know that Asia doesn't just include the Indian sub-continent. It's just that the word "Asian" has that connotation in the UK. In other parts of the world, the term "Asian" implies eastern Asia - which is equally inaccurate. Also in America, describing someone as "Oriental" is seen as pretty offensive... not sure why...
