  1. Keith Floyd was awesome. I hope his shows will still be on TV for years to come.
  2. I heard a while ago that this happened in Ireland. But when I posted it on here, someone was quite abusive towards me...
  3. Lard, I wouldn't be surprised if your theory was true. However, plastic bags don't last as long. Bog-standard plastic bags would surely break after a few uses, and even a Sainsburys "bag for life" in practise only lasts a couple of months. I think cloth bags - or some sort of jute/hessian - would last a lot longer. But by all means keep those plastic bags for as long as they're in tact.
  4. I would rather have a Sainsbury's there than empty units. At least it will mean that people at that end of East Dulwich don't have to trek to Dog Kennel Hill to get their groceries in. I am sure it will be very popular. I know a lot of people will perceive this as a threat to independent shops, but I think that small shops should be able to survive by providing products/service/environment that you can't get in a supermarket.
  5. Hal... that's pretty "out there"... I didn't realise you were so involved with this stuff. (Are you mentioned in the wiki article at all)? I remain deeply skeptical, but give me a while to digest the info and I will relay my thoughts...
  6. HAL9000, that is certainly an imaginative theory! This is not a physics thread so feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss this... but after you factor in interference from almost infinitely stronger sources, it's totally impossible... almost beyond the wildest realms of science fiction!
  7. Mountains - Biffy Clyro
  8. Of course people can be remembered. That's not the same thing as "continuing to exist" though, is it?
  9. ralphation Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They have decided their decision is final and have > now added a ?20 "admin fee" to the initial penalty > fare and passed it on to a debt collection agency. This is disgusting. It's as bad as - maybe even worse than - parking fines. I hope you are going to stand your ground and refuse to pay the admin fee, as well as continuing to contest the original fine.
  10. Fog On The Tyne - Gazza and Lindisfarne

When you say "soul" and "essence", I am interpreting this as our awareness/consciousness, combined with personality. In which case, this exists in the form of neurons and synapses. When we die the neurons stop firing, and then they will rot (or burn). It's a bit like asking where the music goes if you melt down a CD. Or where the words have gone if you burn a book.
  12. Eradicating of the bendy bus seems daft, wasteful and expensive - it does seem that Boris is pursuing a personal grudge. Surely if they're not working out, just don't order any more of them. Regarding the "green" issue, I'm sure the bendy buses will be sold and re-used elsewhere, but it still seems like a waste of London's resources.
  13. We still call people from India "Indian", as far as I know... "Indian" is a subset of "Asian". Forgive me for saying so Steve, but I think it's rather a strange question. How would you like it if people from Asia called all Europeans "Germans"? I am guessing that you wouldn't! Therefore, people from Pakistan or Bangladesh might not like being called "Indian" either.
  14. Complete nonsense. Very disappointing. His pseudo-psychological explanations are often semi-convincing, but this was just a crock of shite. The coin trick and story about the weight of the cow were irrelevant, and all the stuff about automatic writing and averaging the numbers was an insult. I hope he redeems himself with the mass-hypnotism one he's trying next time.
  15. I think Debs and Phil are planning something rather more eventful than cocktails...
  16. Good call, snakebite and black is a good cocktail! How about rum and speed?
  17. Hurricane - Athlete
  18. HAL, I like your laser idea. More plausible then hidden ink-jet heads, and silent too. Although if he used the split-screen method, then reggie's observation would seem relevant.
  19. How about a cream egg with a scotch egg? Or how about a scotch egg made with a cream egg instead of a proper egg?
  20. All Day Sucker - Stevie Wonder
  21. KK... you may have a problem with the Lib Dems, but that doesn't give you the right to be rude to someone who is just trying to do his job! And the accusations of invading your privacy are complete nonsense.
  22. I never even knew champagne supernova was a cocktail. I tried looking up a recipe, and the first one I saw was champagne, whisky, and port. It sounds absolutely disgusting.
  23. Of course he got all the right numbers! But only revealed them after they'd been announced. So not as impressive as we all thought it would be. The split-screen camera theory seems plausible... the hidden inkjet printers maybe possible too. I'm pretty sure we can rule out projection, as I don't think you can project a black image onto a white background. He obviously can't have recorded all possible outcomes (I know woof was only joking, but apparently some people actually believe this is possible). It's obviously just a good illusion, but I have a feeling he'll try and dress it up as something more.
  24. I don't think you get many articulated lorries on Etherow St, skids!
  25. Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction
