  1. OK I accept a physics PhD alone isn't always enough to secure a good job. There are other pre-requisites, such as the ability to talk to people whilst looking them in the eye, and attaining a basic level of personal hygiene.

  3. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but partner thinks a Physics/Chemistry degree is hopeless. That is simply untrue! For professions requiring a high level of numeracy (accounting, finance, computing, etc) a good science degree will often be a pre-requisite for graduate programs. And if you're smart enough to get a Physics PhD, you could be heading for a very lucrative career in analytics in the city.
  4. Or maybe a landline...

  7. > We will soon have a live (recorded in the studio not a gig) video clips on there though. That's an excellent idea keef. Lots of functions bands have videos of them miming along to a studio recording - you can see through it straight away. I'd much rather hear a genuine performance so you can tell how good they really are.
  8. A recently reported crime does not equal a rise in crime. It seems to be a common mistake on this forum.
  9. Don't order things which will be posted via Royal Mail. If they don't offer the option to "upgrade" the postage, go somewhere else. Forget about Royal Mail, surely it's only a matter of time before they disappear.
  10. Interesting... I have a similar device, but have never used it to record a live gig. Would you take outputs of the separate tracks from the desk (assuming it has appropriate inserts)? Or set up your own mics directly into your recorder? Or something else?

My gran was a regular church-goer. I never had her down as a power-crazed control freak.
  13. That's right, they didn't. And I'm sure you were well enough to go out.
  14. It's been upgraded before - it was still ram-packed after the work, and Canary Wharf isn't getting any smaller. And Canada Water - as the last stop before Canary Wharf - is always going to be hard to board at. Don't hold too much hope for slashing your journey times.
  15. vince - I was (sort of) on your side, but you're starting to lose the plot now...
  16. To be fair, I am possibly describing myself...

  18. Hey PGC... Ted Max is pillar of the EDF society. Don't give him stick.
  19. The Mail is worse, for sure. I actually know a journalist who used to work for the Mail. She didn't last long, after she was constantly having to edit her articles to fit in with the paper's "direction".
  20. I'd definitely recommend it for selling hi-fi and electrical appliances, furniture, musical instruments, and CDs/vinyl. Can't imagine you'd have much success with clothes.
  21. Who needs the interweb when you've got Ceefax? They've got everything on there, you know.

  23. I wouldn't say Vince's comment is "twattish"... a bit alarmist maybe, but there is a valid point in there.
  24. I've all but given up on post. If you can't rely on it, it becomes pratically useless.
