    Rug Talk

My anti-snobbism regarding Ikea has been documented on these pages and widely ridiculued! However... I bought a red-ish rug there to go in my first flat, when I had to furnish it on a shoestring. I kept telling myself that it would eventually stop shedding red fluff everywhere, but it continued indefinitely. I wouldn't buy a rug from there again - you get what you pay for.

  3. True.
  4. There isn't really any venue of comparable size to Brixton though, is there? It must be double the size of the Forum, Shepherds Bush Empire, or Astoria (and that doesn't even exist any more).
  5. Not a bad thread Wallisi, but quite an amateurish effort compared to some of our other members. You should check out some of Lousia's posts... then you'll realise how much you have to learn.
  6. The sound at Brixton Academy sucks. It's a universal truth. Loud - yes. Good - no.
  7. I don't think it's moot. Does a country with a higher GDP necessarily need a nuclear programme, a larger air force, and more troops? Just because we "can", does it mean we "should"?
  8. At least you're not off chasing kids.

  10. Yeah, a lot of power supplies work with both voltages fine. It will say on the power supply itself. Some older power supplies have a voltage switch on them.
  11. An honest question - what do the TA actually do? You say they give significant help to the regulars, can you give examples of this? It does annoy me that we have (possibly) the highest military spending in Europe, and seem to get caught up in far more conflicts than our peers. Imagine how much money we'd save if we stopped pursuing various agendas overseas...
  12. I'll be there... meeting when/where?

Even to buy a modest one bed flat in Peckham, you're talking about something like 200k, so you'd need to be on a pretty reasonable salary. > Obviously this will cause massive social problems, > but i am really interested as unfortunately i want > a bentley, a small one, possibly with a garden. I'm not convinced it will cause massive social problems... or indeed any social problems. Owning a property isn't an essential requirement for a decent standard of living.

  15. I think in the scheme of things, it's more likely to have been an actual, living cat rather than a ghost. Wouldn't you say?!
  16. Unfortunately, the current range of cheaper Marshall combos aren't worth touching with a barge pole, unless you go north of ?500. If you want to go for a TSL (or DSL) combo I'm sure you'd be happy with that. Personally I always prefer a separate head and cab, but maybe that's just me...

  18. Why don't you just get a 1x12 or 2x12 cab to use with your existing head?
  19. Probably easier to name places which don't have Wi-Fi. I'll start. Iceland.

  21. Even if we are running out of space, there are other factors at work here other than supply-and-demand... e.g. availability of mortgages, "liquidity" and confidence in the housing market, employment, and the state of the economy in general.
  22. Probably. Part of the problem is that some people still want to post letters for a few pence, and have them arrive the next day. It's a model which won't be possible for much longer, but the govt don't want to admit it.

This happened to me. It wasn't a ghost though, it was a strange man with a tool kit, saying something about "fixing the door".
  24. I agree, that would be sensible. It will never happen.
