  1. Actually, Apollo was the name of the mission, wasn't it? So the "Apollo 11 Moon Landing" seems perfectly correct to me! I don't see why it would be a hoax, it terms of technology it certainly would have been possible at the time. It actually looks quite simple compared to modern unmanned missions. Countries have generally cut back on space exploration, because it's very expensive, and there's no real benefit. The moon landing must have cost an absurd amount of money, but I guess it made sense at the time in the context of the cold war.
  2. Thieving bastards. Dispute it all the way. If at first they don't accept the appeal, take it all the way to the hearing. I would be surprised if they won. Take photos of the area if you can (or grab from google streetview) showing the lack of warning signs.

  5. He's got a point.
  6. I didn't think the photo was a great idea piglet. If someone experiences the same behaviour and wants to compare notes, they can always send you a private message.

  8. There was a dead mouse on teh station platform the other day, does that count?
  9. James, do you ever fancy someone primarily because of their hair?
  10. Jimi, the problem is that it's happened a few times... dodgy "recommendations" for estate agents, bars, builders, etc. So when a brand new poster posts a glowing report of a business, people understandably get suspicious. If your recommendation is genuine, then I suggest that you don't take it personally.
  11. Hey, Liverpool has a Beatles Museum, you know! And a gallery. In fact, a couple of galleries. And did I mention The Beatles?
  12. Five different places on Lordship Lane. Plus a cut at The Clipper. And I'll assume at least two cuts up in Hampstead, seeing as you "for ages you kept travelling back up". That's a lot of haircuts in seven months. Giving you the benefit of the doubt - assuming you like to keep your hair nice and neat - I've had my hair cut there a few times, and I think it's fine, but it's just a basic cut... nothing wrong with it, but nothing to shout about either.

It's also a bit like South Africa claiming to be "the economic powerhouse of Africa"!
  14. This is London - there are dodgy guys and burglaries in all areas!
  15. I don't think it's related to the precision of scanning technology. More likely simply that an offer has been displayed on the shelves, but not entered into the system. I very much doubt it's intentional, just make sure you always check your receipt. As SMG says, plenty of people have complained about the same thing happening in other stores.

  17. Ahh, The Graduate. How I lusted after Mrs Robinson when I was a teenager. I felt a bit guilty about it at first, but felt better when I realised that Anne Bancroft was only 35 at the time. And Bladerunner is awesome!
  18. Rubber Lover - Marmaduke Duke (see, I do know some "current" music, you know)

  21. 9/11 - I was at work. Two American clients were watching the coverage online at a nearby desk. One was crying, the other kept on saying "oh my god, we are so gonna kick their asses".

  25. The ED trains are crowded, but you can always get on. They have been realiable recently too (famous last words). It is far, far preferable to the bus in my opinion.
