  1. Just wanted to say how much cleaner the areas next to the paths are these days. Not sure if it was your guys Barry, or someone else... but it's a lot better now. It used to really stink when walking up to the platform on a hot day!
  2. What a surprise... millionaire superstar sportsman has hot girlfriend. And Tony... I thought you were already spoken for (Live-In Jamaican Ladyfriend [tm])?
  3. I am not as familiar with the ways of "The North" as some other posters. But nevertheless, I would be surprised at the option of "a sex thing" with a takeaway. "Half and half" is half chips and half rice. In some parts of the country, this is deemed an appropriate accompaniment to a lamb madras or a portion sweet & sour pork.
  4. Yes, Donkey Alley is a great little spot, but the houses go like hot cakes. er...
  5. I think the north/south divide isn't about the chips itself... more the context in which they are eaten. Not only is it common for chippies in "The North" to give you the option of gravy or curry sauce on your chips... it is also common for Indian or Chinese takeaways to offer chips instead of rice, or the ever-popular "half and half" option.

Decent sun screen won't just get sweated off in the course of a run round the block! Regarding dehydration, take a bottle of water with you. I don't see the problem really.
  7. Don't get hung up on postcodes... there are parts of Peckham and Camberwell which are much better located for transport and shops/pubs on Lordship Lane than a lot of East Dulwich.
  8. Just about acceptable in the park, I'd say. You'd look like a bit of a git running on the road with no shirt.

That's OK Sherwick, I knew what you meant... just being grumpy on a Monday morning...

Yes *Bob*, those ones. The same ones who used to walk around with their heads covered in veils. The ones who clearly - to put it tactfully - don't look much like their father. Hopefully it's not too late for the kids to have some sort of normal(ish) childhood. (Sherwick - Not sure I'd describe the Challenger disaster as a "great TV event"...)
  11. I thought the new barbers was on the site of the old off-licence. Chopsticks is still standing empty. Wid, if you liked it fair enough - but there are much, much better chinese restaurants around (and much better dishes than s&s chicken balls!)

  13. My keyboard comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek... the keyboard is one of my instruments, and I've always found it harder to get recognition playing keyboard in a bad compared to when I've been playing other instruments. I know Jerry was a pivotal member (maybe the main songwriter?) Rico was an unofficial member... I always thought of him more as an all-round ska and reggae legend who made the odd guest appearance with The Specials. Besides, he's an old man now.
  14. Watched some of the Specials set in the Hermits Cave earlier... looked good. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Specials were brilliant, shame they can't kiss > and make up with Jerry Dammers. JD has probably just been more careful with his money than the rest of them. But who really cares about the keyboard player anyway?

Keef tells the truth. Elvis sang a load of covers, and basically recycled existing R&B music. How was he any better than jacko? They were both performers first and foremost.

Perhaps now they'll have someone to look after them who won't dangle them over balconies and keep their heads covered.

    Michael Jackson

My first thought was suicide. Things aren't exactly going his way these days, are they... and I expect he knew there was no way he'd be able to cope with all those shows.
  18. Yep, good call Keef.

    Local cinema???

It's no easier to get to than Brixton, so I'm not convinced that many people from East Dulwich would go there. Still... cinema better than church.
  21. Hey Georgia - if you were being serious and were actually thinking of taking the EDF drinks to Camberwell, you could try the Hermits Cave, which is a much, much better pub than the Buckle (although it is a little small).
  22. Yep, it was a good night. Thanks for organising it MikeP, even if you weren't there! Hopefully catch you at the next one.
  23. Carly's? Do you mean Emily's? (unless it has been "re-branded"). If you want chips fluffy on the inside and crip on the outside, not too greasy, then the Sea Cow is the place for you. If you want old-school chips which are a bit more "slimy", with (hopefully) little crispy bits of chip at the bottom of the bag, then Emily's is really good too.
  24. Yeah, if you (or anyone) could PM me their number that would be good... just in case.
  25. Can't work out whether bluebear is joking! I assume he/she is...
