  1. Having a special jacket prepared for when you win, just to show everyone how great you are... it's all a bit vulgar. And yeah, his walk-on outfits are laughable. Some people say that it's due to sponsorship obligations, but I don't remember anyone else walking on in a white 3-piece suit with their initials on it. I bet he has pyjamas with a picture of his face on the front, and a caption saying "Roger's the greatest". Perhaps a crossed-rackets (racquets?) motif on the back, with his signature beneath it (in gold).
  2. Federer is a good player... a great player... but I just don't like the guy. People say he's humble, but he really isn't. He says "I'm not playing tennis to break records", but then seconds later turns up with a jacket with "15" written on it. As if his various ridiculous outfits and "RF" embroidered gear isn't irritating enough.
  3. How about if they were dressed as clowns?

I wanted to book something like that for my dad, but the only ones I could find were ?250 or over. Do you know where you can do one for more like ?100?

I do take your "boys will be boys" point... but don't necessarily agree with it. I wouldn't expect these kids to be locked up - but if they could be tracked down, I would expect the police to have a word with their parents and maybe give the kids a caution. It takes 10 minutes to make the call, but can take hours and hours to give a statement. A day off work if they decide to take it to court and they need you as a witness. It wouldn't stop me reporting a crime again, but it's far from trivial.

(I don't think stabbing wheelie bins would be classed as a good reason). It seems quite clear cut to me, I don't even think there's a debate to be had here.
  8. Exactly... illegal and dangerous, you should have called the police straight away! Might have made them think twice about carrying knives.
  9. I just think G&B is a bit too high-end for a lot of people, myself included. I would typically spend between 5-7 quid on a bottle of wine, if I went over that it would have to be for a special occasion, or maybe a present. But I'm sure there's lots of people who feel differently... and there's something for all budgets in ED.
  10. re G&B... whether it's true or not, I've always had the perception that it's a notch above Nicholas price-wise, so I might go into Nicholas instead for that reason. And although I know it's a complete cop-out... for those of us who don't know much about wine, it can seem a little intimidating buying wine from a shop who specialise in small producers who you've almost certainly never heard of before.
  11. I think the drinking laws should just be there to give the authorities the power to tackle people are are acting anti-socially. They should use their discretion, if people aren't causing trouble, let them get on with it.

  13. Of course it's not genuine! Where is the nearest double red line? Where is the nearest pound? It only costs ?45 to get your car back? Yeah, right. Why doesn't he go to the cash machine (or just use his credit card at the pound)? If his wallet was in the car (ha!) why doesn't he ask a friend to help out, rather than knocking on windows?
  14. It really depends what you're looking for. It's not really my sort of place... a bit too "young"... a bit too "smart shoes and hair gel".
  15. What japanese girl?

  17. Chips with cheese is good. Not just a southern thing, I might add.
  18. It's a nice old building with character, glad it's no longer being neglected. honklenk, I didn't have you down as a rock fan... I thought of you more as a 80s rave and hardcore techno kind of chap.
  19. This week I have watched Ong Bak, Let The Right One In, and JCVD. All were entertaining for their own reasons...
  20. I wish to "get a rewind" and go back to Annasfield's post. What is that guy standing on? Is that a kind of canoe, which converts into a stationary "mini-island"?
  21. You should demand that in the future she buys the far superior "country slices".

  23. Murray gets broken in the 2nd set... then breaks back...
  24. It's a matter for the individual, not the animal trust.
  25. The child and parent bays are obviously designed for parents with babies in pushchairs. If you can't understand why the whole shopping/parking/car loading experience may be a bit more tricky for them, you're a complete tool. Nobody's asking you to bend over backwards to accomodate them, it's just a small measure to make their trip a bit easier, and ultimately to encourage them to come to the shop.
