  2. Or maybe because you're a boring simpleton.
  3. Project and Rega are the names you consistently hear when it comes to entry level turntables. But with all your retro gear, what you really want is a nice refurbished Garrard 401! Quality piece of engineering and a real centrepiece.

  5. Yep, Homeland is alright. Fargo. House of Cards. Daredevil and Jessica Jones are good/silly/fun.
  6. Banh Banh (vietnamese) have moved out of the Bussey building, and opening up their own place on Rye Lane (the bit near Rosie's, Pedler, etc)

How about - asleep by 11pm because you know you'll be woken up at 6am (and probably during the night too), and it just. aint. worth it. Neither Jools nor jiggy come into it.

Boring and lifeless? Just because people aren't all excited about sodding NYE? It's almost always an anti-climax. Spending it at home with friends and/or family with a bit of grub and a few bottles is a much better idea. But if you absolutely must have a night out, then I agree that local is better than venturing into central London. I believe the Flying Pig will have no entry charge.

  13. Kick out The Phoenix and replace with what? DH needs more gate capacity, not a large empty cavernous space...
  14. It's a fine line. If a group of people generally find something offensive or uncomfortable then as a society we need to listen to that. For me that doesn't mean that every time someone cries "that's offensive", they deserve to be taken seriously.
  15. Depends what you mean by "heritage". Culturally, yeah of course they do. My point was that "black" is kind of synonymous with "of African origin". Just as white is synonymous with "of European origin". So I don't get the problem. Would you mind being described as "of European appearance?"
  16. Yep never bothered with a takeaway (preferred the one near the station, formerly known as "the Dulwich fryer"). But for somewhere to sit in - with something to drink of course - it was a reasonable prospect. And if "the missus" didn't fancy F&C there was always the option of a bit of grilled snapper with salad, or whatever. I cannot agree that it was overpriced. ?9 for cod and chips (when eating in) is very competitive. Check out how much our local pubs charge. The problem was that it was a little inconsistent. Had some lovely fish (and OK chips) there, and good portions... but at other times the food was disappointing.
  17. But black people are if African descent! So a valid (albeit broad) description of ethnicity. Some black people prefer the word 'African' and dislike the word 'black'. A white South African is not of African heritage/ethnicity.
  18. Yep, suspect rent rises are only half the problem. Was empty last time we went in.
  19. I generally agree with the sentiment that if you move within earshot of a football stadium, you've nothing to complain about. But.. some responses a bit overly aggressive. Not necessarily helpful.

    ELO

Yep, Weller ripped it off! (I actually quite like it though)
  21. Hoping to get a few free rides, DG?!! But yes I agree it is good. The app, the concept, the price... all great.

Nice one, FJDGoose. One of Paul Weller's best tracks, that.

    X - Factor

Not really surprising that a reality TV star (famous specifically for being slim and pretty), who has lived all her adult life under media scrutiny, has a body image issue.
  24. Flying Pig nearest, then Gowlett, then EDT. (according to Google maps, Gowlett is .2 miles/3 mins, EDT is .2 miles/4 mins).
  25. bil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I wonder if the OKR stations will be zone 1 or zone 2. Interesting question. I noticed that the new Nine Elms station will be zone 1, and this fact features prominently on the marketing material for the new developments going up round there. I wonder if the developers insisted on the station being in zone 1 before agreeing to contribute funds?
