  1. Yes, agree with all this, but I think you're largely preaching (ha) to the converted on the EDF. Aside from the reasons you mention, it's simply not right to confuse impressionable kids, and fill their heads with rubbish about magic and fairies.

  3. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Troll? Jeremy are you being sarcastic? Not at all. Your opinions are often valid - important, even. But then, you also post a lot of nonsense. Which many of us realise is a joke (albeit it an odd one), but the casual reader might not.
  4. People "pick on" Louisa? Seriously? If you're going to troll, you need to expect some return fire.
  5. McDonald's doesn't make you obese. Big Mac and fries, something like 800 calories. So a third of a man's RDA. It's pretty salty, but not a problem as long as you don't eat it too often.
  6. Christmas started for us on Saturday, when we bought a tree and a wreath. I admit I was initially all a bit "bah humbug" about it. But when our almost-two-year-old started enthusiastically "decorating" the tree, and pointed in wonder when we turned on the lights... was hard to be cynical about it.
  7. If Fox's problem was that this poster had previously singled out himself and Louisa, then he should have said so. Making some sort of vague accusation (of what, exactly?) because of a handful of business recommendations... that's just bizarre behaviour.

  9. About 15 years ago I bought some oven gloves from one of these guys. They melted.
  10. London's quiet around Christmas. I wouldn't bother opening up if I had a stall.
  11. Cranberry and apple (or pear).

    craft beer

Lots of the craft breweries make other styles.. porter, wit, hefewiezen, saison, geuze, pils.. but the hoppy American style is pretty addictive. I really like the German dopplebock beers, surprised we've not seen more along those lines from the craft brewers.

I have the book... yes its a good read but it's not really my idea of sci-fi.
  14. Japanese electronics? Whatever next? World's gawn mad!
  15. Some classics: Neuromancer Ender's Game Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep I, Robot Brave New World For something more recent, maybe Radiance by Catheryn M Valente?
  16. El Presidente... speaking personally... I couldn't care less if every single ISIS soldier gets blown to pieces by falling bombs. My concerns are more along the lines of: - Will this actually work? Is our intelligence good enough to make air strikes effective against ISIS? - If we are succesful and ISIS are defeated and/or retreat from Syria, then what? Do we just pull out and let Russia/Syria continue to fight the rebels? Or do we take sides? Is the long term goal to depose Assad? Will we leave the region in deeper chaos? - How many innocent civilians will die? Will the damage inflicted on ISIS be enough to justify the collateral carnage? - Where is the money coming from?
  17. Of course chances are that it was all innocent. But absolutely impossible to say for sure, and a call to 101 won't do any harm. If he is dodgy, there will probably be others.
  18. I can think of several greasy spoon type places that the posh-mummies-with-?1000-buggies wouldn't dream of going in. I can provide a list if you want..
  19. There's lots of good stuff there (arts, music, nightlife, fantastic restaurants) but it's such a pain to get around. And I don't like the huge sprawling layout with no obvious centre, no green spaces, nowhere pleasant to just take a stroll. Good weather though.
  20. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > no other country in the world is so reliable upon one city I get what you're saying Louisa, but this statement is not really true (Thailand and Hungary are good counter examples, although of course they are not major economic powers)
  21. LA? Eurgh...
  22. Are Russia on board with the US/NATO plan (whatever that might be), or are they still doing their own thing?
  23. Ask your neighbours for their WiFi password?
