  1. Crofton Park is quite nice. Some good pubs and stuff. Nearby Honor Oak and Brockley are pretty good areas too. I'd say go for it.
  2. bejam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oglander road is no more part of Peckham than Hastings is of Tonbridge. I'll bite. That is nonsense. Top end of Oglander is in the heart of the Bellenden Rd area (of Peckham). Just because one end of it is near East Dulwich station doesn't mean it's in East Dulwich...
  3. Well apparently there will be a military coup if Corbyn comes into power, so it's a moot point!
  4. Rice milk?? Christ...
  5. Not much I can disagree with there, rrr. A little redistribution would seem appropriate.
  6. Surely the NHS uses London weighting? Doesn't it?
  7. Interesting Thatcher comparison. Read this yesterday, and Robert Peston (like him or loathe him) pointed out that both Corbyn and Thatcher recruited renowned economists to flesh out their policies, and to validate a non-mainstream approach. Note that this doesn't mean I agree with the economic policies of either of them.. economists come in a whole spectrum of flavours, it's not hard to find one that agrees with you..

Not the case for medics.
  10. If it's never going to be used, can't we just pretend we have nukes? In fact, can't we just pretend we've invented something even more destructive? Like some kind of awesome giant space laser?

  12. Coffee with breakfast. Coke in afternoon. Beer with dinner.
  13. So you are actually being serious?
  14. I'm no fan of the show but... erm... wow...
  15. I have quite a few friends who are doctors and my Facebook has been swamped with this stuff for weeks. 15 years ago a junior doctor could survive quite happily on their salary. Yeah it was hard work with unsociable hours, but the chances are they could afford to buy or rent a decent flat and live quite comfortably. But while grad salaries in the private sector have risen nicely since then, medicine seems to have remained static. And instead of a much needed raise, salaries are now getting cut. So the anger is certainly understandable and I'm broadly supportive of a strike, however unpalatable it seems. But at the same time, perhaps something needs to be done to address the vast disparity between junior doctor and consultants..
  16. Everyone with half a brain cell understands the downside of gentrification, but I'm quite sure that a bunch of crusty squatter types (sorry, "class war anarchists") throwing paint at the stupid cereal caf? isn't going to help. Most of them probably needed a map to find Brick Lane.

I know you're just taking the piss now, but even so.. that's a bit like saying you go to the pub or curry house to be seen and look important. Rather than having a beer and/or curry at home. Mince pies... my mum's home made mincemeat plus shop-bought puff pastry (sometimes have to add an extra dash of booze to the mincemeat). Can knock out 48 of them in an evening easily. Delicious!
  18. Tbh I'd be quite happy to be moved away from the crowd of drunk and/or deranged individuals next time I end up in A&E. I might look for some kind of military uniform on eBay.
  19. LondonMix... I prefer ED too. But the transport is shite.
  20. Better transport. Younger population with more of a bar scene. Probably better restaurants. Bigger houses. On the downside... rugby boys everywhere.
  21. Shame the OKR route won't connect with Queens Road Peckham. E&C, OKR, QRP, NXG would have been a good little route.
  22. Sounds almost as bad as an Italian hospital breakfast. Coffee and a "biscottate". Nothing else.
  23. Is there a device which sucks spiders up into a tube - and then crushes them?
  24. Good thread, Louisa! Nice job.
  25. I eat the bloody things almost every day for breakfast. They're taking years off my life, I'm sure.
