  1. >>Baguette from the cheese place is excellent!<< The baguettes sold there are by some distance the best in ED bar none. I wonder where they come from?
  2. And why should North London have all the Premier League football clubs? If you demolish DKH Sainsburys and use the the DKH park as well there'd be room for a really good modern stadium and a team we could all support instead of boring old West Ham, Arsenal, Lverpool, Dulwich Hamlet etc... Football crowds surging up LL of a Saturday evening - you know it makes sense...All we need is a Russian billionaire..
  3. >>Forumites don't have a special secret handshake any more. It is more of a full on snog at this time of year - it is >>Christmas afterall! That's it - I'm definitely not leaving the house now before the new year.... ::o
  4. You may never find out! We have had a lovely and friendly marmalade and white cat visting us for several years now, stealing our cats' food (they are non-territorial pacifists!) and more recently spending time napping or relaxing on various bits of furniture. He is clean and well-fed and obviously has a "proper" home elsewhere though...He has no collar and none of the closer neigbours know where (else?!) he lives...
  5. ...on seeing the gnarled old brickie emerge from the shadows in his hard hat, rusty trowel in one hand and half-empty lager can in the other, a solitary tooth grinning evilly in his mouth, the young woman screamed in frignt and bolted up Lordship Lane searching for sanctuary....
  6. There might have been a case for tipping binmen in the old days when they used to have to manhandle and/or drag old-style bins from the bottom of the garden or wherever, But in these days of wheeliebins where residents do half the work for them by wheeling the things on to the pavement on the requisite days of the week I think it just adds insult to injury to be expected to tip these guys as well!
  7. "dog exercise area" - and variations thereof - meaning that section of a park or similar green area covered in dog shit
  8. >>one of the ladies from Pan's People now lives next door to my aunt on Underhill Road!<< Ohhh....which one?! SimonM (starstruck)
  9. Well I. aged only 6, struck terror into the hearts of my classmates when I played King Herod, complete with robe fashioned from old black-out curtains and a false beard fashioned from I-dread-to-think. Needless to say, I think it no coincidence at all that neither Olivier nor Gielgud ever risked essaying this part after my clearly definitive version. Did not stop me becoming a rabid atheist at age 14 though, nor have I (yet) massacred any first-born...:))

  11. Anyone know why it was closed today??
  12. Ours adore the pellets of tandoori chicken from my Domino's pizza (an occasional treat...)
  13. Well done anyway, especially for thrashing UKIP and making the Tories look a bit silly...>:D
  14. Birmingham 2 - 1 Reading Derby 0 - 1 Middlesbrough Man. City 2 - 1 Bolton Portsmouth 2 - 1 Tottenham Sunderland 0 - 2 Aston Villa West Ham 2 - 1 Everton Wigan 1 - 1 Blackburn Fulham 0 - 1 Newcastle Liverpool 1 - 1 Man.United Arsenal 1 - 1 Chelsea -
  15. >>Lovely LozzyLoz, I am svelte for 40 dear heart - much more Liz Hurley I think!<< Sorry Ms Mum but you have to be portrayed by Billie Piper, as she has previous form for playing a blogger with exotic (and expensive?) tastes in underwear...:))
  16. As long as you use a biodegradable bin bag...
  17. I did say "local derbies excepted" - remove your Huddesrdield game with its 35K crowd and what are you left with?
  18. >>My dad always tells us to chuck him in the thames in a bin liner.<< And do you do this a lot? Or does he just mean after he is dead? :))
  19. >>For me, Ed ends at the station, Everything on the DKH estate side up to Grove Hill would be Peckham, and the >>Sainsbury's side would be Denmark Hill/Camberwell. Hoopers on Ivanhoe Road would be pretty much border of Peckham and >>Camberwell, definitely not ED. For me the football ground and Sainsbury's and the adventure playground have always been in ED, which makes the traffic lights at the top of DKH sort of the border/customs post: all pretty arbitrary and subjective though I'm the first to admit. Once I lived in "Dulwich Village Borders"; now I happily own up to "East Dulwich": all without having moved :))
  20. Foxton's salesman - Ricky Gervais James Nesbitt - Timothy Spall Timothy Spall - James Nesbitt Woman with buggy - Olivia Coleman
  21. >>It's amusing that a Google search on Lounged shows the East Dulwich Forum at the top, with the discussion Re: Vomit on >>the 176 (Lounged).:D
  22. >>Anyone know when the draw for the next round is?<< 21st December, according to today's Grauniad.
  23. >>Needless to say the poor Ipswich fan ended up outside Tesco's.:D< ) Mind you the old jokes are the best! SimonM * "Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane"
  24. Rob Hulse was a fine investment and was scoring vital goals until he broke a leg in a dreadful collion in the Chelsea game. Now he is back in the reserves we can but hope he will soon be scoring them again in the first team. I'm more ambivalent about Kilgallon but applaud the lad for wanting to better himself....:))
