  1. Recommend www.waltersfamilytaekwondo.com....daniel is a great role model....has just moved to The Bussey building in Peckham though...but worth it..right opposite Peckham Rye Station (opposite victors lab so you can do yoga while they do the taekwondo.....or a great basement bar nearby selling Vietnamese street food...makes the travel easier!)
  2. Thanks for the link....I was looking at tfl (I'm usually a bus person!)
  3. Can't find any info on web except service part suspended! I need to go from East dulwich to peckham rye (with toddlers) and forest hill to town (pref London Bridge).
  4. I would put in actual preference - that way you will be on the waiting lists for all preferences above what you actually get (if they are southwark schools). There is loads of movement after the first round of offerings. As I understand it, where you put a school as preference has no standing on whether you get offered a place: Your child's name will be put forward to all the schools you put on the list with no preference marker and not at each school but on computer system in council offices. The computer will then list all the schools that would offer you a place based on the school's criteria and that years' applicants. You will then be offered the highest one of these on your list of preferences. However, definately choose one you are almost certain to get into as your sixth choice....better that than be given one you don't know and is miles away. (Harris Primary is probably a realistic and good bet for your sixth choice I would have thought)
  5. The original one - The Cheese Block.
  6. James could the scout hut on Greendale or red post hill church hall be used instead of Bessemer Grange?
  7. Really?....I was doing a couple of yoga classes a week at ?10 each....?80 a month so this works out much cheaper and I can do a class a day if I want, plus gym..works for me!
  8. Sorry Victoria shouldn't you and your party be offering your support to James seeing as he started this campaign rather than making out it was your initiative?....just seems a bit rich to start your letter 'asking you to join us'.....it just puts me off reading later parts of the letter which may have valid points in them...
  9. Just wanted to big up ESPH on their off-peak gym membership to anyone around locally during the day. It is ?49 a month for full use of the gym between 9am and 5am Mon-Fri PLUS any number of daytime classes during the week including yoga, Pilates, spin class, circuits etc.. The instructors are great and there are shower and locker facilities. I know I am at a lucky time in my life where I have a bit of time in the day (kids at school, looking for work) to indulge in off-peak membership but if you can make use of it it really is great value.
  10. My son's Taekwondo Club is holding a daily club over half term, on the Weds, Thurs and Fri, 8am - 6pm. It should be great fun with various activities (see attached) including 3 x Taekwondo activities a day, learning some basic Korean, arts and crafts activities, board games, snooker etc? Daniel and Shakira who run the club are fantastic and it should be great fun. Something different from the standard sports camps and a great introduction to Taekwondo?(or refresher/training). For those still looking for a way to celebrate Halloween they are also holding a Halloween party on Friday night (6pm-9pm). Only ?5 a ticket and Shakira has enough enthusiasm for all of us!! Face Painting, pumpkin carving, games? Please see attached for more details.
  11. Second for Seasalt - really warm, robust and not 'crinkly'!
  12. Yep, I think it's gorgeous...cheers me up!
  13. Tried it out today as Blackbird was heaving....really great hot chocolate...lovely looking pastries, friendly staff....reckon there's room for small good caf?s....
  14. Sorry yes, of course if you have preference for one then of course stick to that.....and a reminder that if you want to grill the Haberdashers campaign about admissions or any other subject there is a drop-in session at Goose Green TONIGHT 7-8.30pm
  15. The bids need to show that there is a parent demand for a secondary school on this site. In order to do this parents need to say they would put the new school as their first preference.....no one will check up later to see if you did indeed put it first. Nor will anyone get into trouble for ticking both campaigns as their first preference - it just shows that the school will be full whichever organisation ends up running it.
  16. Kings a@e department, kids outpatient department or asylum seekers hostel at top of Barry road.
  17. Blue plaque above hardware shop at top of hill near library.....
  18. Only one person has complained. Thousands got the message - good marketing for a local event that everyone was invited to. Will happily take down any stray posters I see around......
  19. I know they have a Facebook page......it is a parent run morning only nursery with professionals running the actual nursey and parents helping out where they can - a registered charity it is very cheap and a great introduction to a nursery setting (although personnel have changed since I had kids there). They take from 2.5yrs. Searching on here should get you more info...think it is spelt Amott Road and is off Adys Road..
  20. I think wetting 2/3 times a night makes it worth checking with a referral but a very simple thing we were told when my son suddenly started wetting again at 6 (dry at 4) was for him to go and 'empty his balloon at night'. I always asked if he wanted a wee before bed but he rarely did but as the dr pointed out the obvious, he wouldn't as it wasn't full. So he now goes to the loo before bed regardless of whether get feels like it.....I know it's obvious, it just wasn't part of our routine as I thought I had covered it by asking him if he wanted the loo! Not much help for OP but might save someone a referral!
  21. First day of hot summer holidays and all that....but no, our local pool has no sessions until 6pm?!....replacing the schools session with a general swim might have been a good idea but instead they have just decided to keep it closed 'due to maintenance'......errrgh
  22. First day of summer holidays and no swimming sessions that the kids can go too until 6pm. The afternoon school session which could have been used for the general public is instead closed 'due to maintenance' - great planning and SO frustrating......
  23. Samstopit I suggest we delegate solving the historical fraud investigations to bornagain and you just focus on the fantastic work you have all been doing to get a co-ed secondary school for East Dulwich. I for one am very grateful. This secondary school was not on the agenda until James Barber listened to local parents and spearheaded the campaign.
