Good luck Strawbs and well done for getting the hang of latching on. You'll do great.
-
Nothing? Really? No, you're right. It is indeed getting as dull as ditchwater*. *why is ditchwater dull? I'm sure it's full of all sorts of exciting micro-life, with all the exotic scent and texture that implies.

Randombloke, how do you do the edges first? This thread makes me hungry!

Congrats again lovely Strawbs! Don't worry too much about breastfeeding-some lucky pairs just get it right away, with others it takes a while (with me and both of mine!) but if you keep on trying and get lots of help the two of you will get there. Re: sleeping on you, a sling is a wonderful thing. My 2nd was a very touchy-feely baby and even at a few months old much preferred sleeping on my shoulder to anywhere else. But he grew out of it and now sleeps happily in his bed, though of course still loves to be held and carried around. If you can make it work for you & Jaws, co-sleeping is a wonderful thing and a very good way for everyone to get more rest and baby T to get more noms. Best of luck! Hang on in there, it's hard work like no other but it's worth it!

Hi, I'm a local business and would just like to plug my shop while giving a swift kick in the pants to the competition. Hope that doesn't put anyone off! Bye!

I also live in the proposed CPZ area, a 6 minute walk from the station. The ?125 resident permit fee would I feel be a costly price for something that will make life less pleasant and easy, but it's the visitor passes that will really rack up for me: after the first book each visitor will cost something like ?6. That said, I entirely disagree with the assertion that residents of the proposed CPZ should have priority over neighbours of the CPZ-why should their quality of life be put second, unless the idea is just to extend the zone out until it butts up against the Peckham Rye zone? I also wonder how many parking spaces are taken up by staff of Goose Green and St. John's and St. Clements. That parking problem won't go away. Not sure the proponents of the zone are doing themselves any favours by suggesting local workers 'should just take public transport'. Why would that argument apply to them but not to you?

Welcome back M. le Quids - we missed you xx (as we are missing Hona, giggirl, Mockers...)

Now, which is more exquisitely painful when stood on in bare feet? Lego or Playmobile? I feel Lego has the edge to really drive Mummy to let rip with some of Those words.
-
Ha, Pickle I thought the same thing but then decided I was crazy! It's the eyebrows and intense, focused stare. "Clean up your Lego, little kid." We haven't got much proper Lego yet but it's growing, so watching with interest. We keep Duplo in one of those deep IKEA hanging storage buckets, my son's room is largely furnished with them. When I was a child I kept my Lego in a big shallow bucket/tray... I kind of thought mixing it all up was sort of the point? But can definitely see the appeal of tidy, unlost toys...mmmm.

Me too! No treats here until Monday.

*glares at Annette* Otta started it, Miss Curtain, and you know it as well as I do. Now sit down, and take up your exercise book at page 204. No, you may not go to the toilet with Maxxi, he's perfectly capable of going by himself.

I don't get the 'people don't like Kitty' thing, either. What's wrong with her? (that isn't wrong with all of them?) Sammy karaoke queen was no loss. Oh, and Otta you are so right about Franky, what a reedy voice.

Halloween - does anyone NOT let their kids trick or treat?
Moos replied to newcomer's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son hasn't trick-or-treated but now he's 4, we're thinking it might be fun this year. Maybe I'm naive, but our experiences of Hallowe'en in ED have been enormous fun. We do put pumpkins out and dress up, and it's so sweet to see the little ones dressed as witches and wizards giggling at the gate. I don't see kids greedy and grasping, just excited and loving being dressed up and out and about. I completely respect what people are saying about not finding it their thing and it must be really annoying to have kids knocking when you haven't decorated your house, but again my experience has been when we 'retired' our pumpkins and left a note on the gate with the last of the sweets explaining that we now had kids in bed and would prefer no more visitors, we were left alone. -
I'm in the proposed CPZ but haven't had the consultation pack - clearly Southwark don't want to hear from me, but they are certainly going to, as is Harriet Harman. I really don't want a CPZ. Believe me, getting a CPZ doesn't mean you'll be able to park outside your house. I've lived in one before and it was an expensive nuisance - half the parking space suddenly becomes unavailable (pay & display or business only) and there's just as much competition as before for the spaces left over.
-
How do they find the time? I'm too busy washing, cleaning and laughing at my husband's jokes.

I've never heard yummy mummy used except as an expression of hatred. Except in about 1990 an in re: Liz Hurley.

Residents of the streets within walking distance of the proposed cpz will be profoundly affected, and to suggest otherwise is disingenuous.

Oh, that's hilarious! My mother made me some as a joke when no.1 was tiny, by cutting and gluing cotton wool pads. Can't believe people actually buy them... can you imagine their being pitched on Fragon's Den? "So one day my son peed in my eye, and I thought -" -
Wow, that brings back memories... strawberry flavour, terrified secret tippling at school. And Thunderbird, for some reason. my memory is that Two Dogs came out first, perhaps in 1993?

But you don't get a bonjour in a French hypermarche either, M. Ben..

A very strange plan exclusive of some obvious streets - however, Ondine road is an easy 5 minute stroll to the station.

Yes, there's a large area for footie and basketball (with a hoop) some way away from the swings - the Locale corner of the playground, Jeremy. Isn't that sort of thing what the Safer Neighbourhood team is for? I sympathise with walking away. I backed down from a confrontation with a very aggressive dog walker not long ago whom I'd (politely) asked to stop yelling and swearing in front of my kids. I got a tirade of foul language as a response, and since the idea was to limit their exposure to fxxx and cxxx, I had to ignore it. Made me furious for days.

Does anyone know where my breast pump is?
Moos replied to Pickle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Pickle, I love the idea of your pump travelling around ED saving breastfeeding mothers from despair. You can borrow mine if you don't get the littlest hobo back.
