  1. SP is correct, nannies and childminders have professional indemnity insurance against exactly that. Also, are you sure you want to ask the question as part of your child-care seeking process..? :)
  2. You have a point. I wouldn't put up with my sprogs running riot in a restaurant either*. *check out me alliteration there.

  4. Nothing wrong with being Depply sexy. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm sorry, what?
  5. 'French Women Don't Get Fat' was nonsense as well - the article was so right in that these books tap into our self-hating tendencies. BCBG Parisiennes may be super-thin, but in regional France there are just as many rounder women as in Britain.
  6. If you like the idea of Italy, have a poke around this website Cognoscenti, as they have beautiful places to stay and they may give you inspiration even if you don't want to book. You'll definitely need the DI in your acronym to afford their hotels, but they are lovely. We stayed in one in Umbria and one amazing, tiny place in Cinque Terra some years ago, sigh.
  7. Might be being stoopid but my tube of Eurax just says 'check w doctor if child under 3'. Worth ringing GP? Good luck - my two had the evil pox at just 4 and about 9 months respectively and I must admit I did miss the Piriton option for the little one, but it didn't last very long. Good luck
  8. Surely time for woodrot to appear?
  9. Like others I'd always ask in advance given how many people there are these days that are for e.g. vegetarian. I would be a bit taken aback by any response that wasn't a simple 'I'm allergic to x' or 'I don't eat meat or fish' or similar, but I would also be mortified to cook someone something they hated if I could have easily avoided it by asking. Not sure I agree re: emails. Cards are lovely, and pretty to display - although my mother even insists that these are unacceptable and a proper letter only will do. But to me an email is simply a modern letter, what's wrong with that? I think what matters is a thoughtful response, not the medium. A quick 'tx 4 gr8 dinner' text doesn't exactly convey gratitude.
  10. I'm not a fan of the Mash when it gets all angry and spittle-y but it does make me giggle sometimes. As did huckcheever's post :)-D
  11. Apparently clowns are sinister. Who knew? It'll be gang activity next.
  12. What Mic Mack said. And 13 years later 3 fabulous grandchildren he could have met.
  13. Absolutely brilliant post. Intelligence, wit and common sense applied without an agenda? It'll never catch on ;-) btw, I am very very happy that my formula days are behind me but I used the make-it-with-boiling-water-immediately-stick-in-fridge-and-carefully-rewarm method.
  14. Ruth, thank you so much for taking the time to let his many friends on the forum know. I never met Simon in person, but exchanged posts with him many times. His sharp wit and kind humour made him a gem of the community. I am so sorry for your grief and loss. Please let us know if we can contribute to or be part of an Internet memorial for Simon. He will be long remembered here.
  15. Good work from JB, who's supposed to be on holiday...! Thank you.
  16. Andy, seems from Pickle's posting that your recommendations are still there. Admin did comment recently to another trader that he can't afford to keep very old posts as they take up a lot of server space, so he might have taken old ones away. As a moderator I can say that we do remove bumped posts but we do rely on their being reported to us, so thank you for so often reporting other traders who have bumped their threads, we do take them down. If you've been using the forum for 3 years for advertising, hopefully yu've had good business from it. Seems a shame to have a go at admin in exchange for all the work that his free forum has generated. You may not be aware, but if you'd like to you can donate towards the costs of running the forum.

  18. I thought you travelled by balloon, Lee Scoresby.
  19. Thanks maxxi, couldn't be bothered to do it myself.
  20. No, no ill effects but a couple of months afterwards he'll get a big lump full of pus that will burst a few times and then heal over in a few weeks. Don't know why the reaction takes so long to come, s'funny.
  21. Brilliant, thank you so much Yak - lots to take away and try. I do find walking and talking a bit difficult with my 4yo though, due to the height difference. But the principle makes complete sense.
  22. Which parts of your personal geography will you be decorating, dear Nette? We cannot advise you without the full picture, leave no detail out.
  23. If the parson has a fine aquiline schnaeb then naturally I would be happy to admire it. But if you're asking me about bits of chicken then neh. 'Sjust food.
