  2. Sorry, didn't mean to suggest you shouldn't give him his milk, he's only wee. Perhaps check with your GP friend (or SELDOC or whomever) what you should focus on, but if milk is still his main diet, surely he should still have that? Poor little bean (and poor you guys).
  3. It can work brilliantly, and in some ways I think an instant friend can be more fun for your baby than sole care (plus learning early about How To Share!). Agree with all the points above, and I'd add to some of them to say - Write everything down in a contract between you. Not as crazy as that sounds, it's good to have everything clarified and agreed. - If something changes (eg someone has another baby) discuss what the changes will mean and re-contract. Worth the trouble. - Holiday dates cause the most trouble and strife - if everyone can book their holidays with as much notice as possible, that is immensely helpful - Talk over any issues you may have as soon as they arrive to get them resolved - When picking a family make sure they have similar ideas about discipline, nutrition, treats, naptime etc. to yours. Although, you'll find you'll all have to adapt to what your nanny does! Try nannyshare.co.uk to find a local family and good luck!
  4. Diarolyte (or however you spell it!) is great stuff - we keep it in the medicine cupboard as standard. Recommendation for post-bug food is BRAT - bananas, rice, apples, toast: nice bland food. Hope cutey miniStrawbs feels better soon x
  5. Ms B, understand that you have already said you're not keen on an independent shopper, but please forgive me if I put in a word for my friend Sam Harding who is a stylist, as I wonder whether she could help you save time and hassle. I have hardly any free time, and she helped me find an outfit for a wedding by taking a detailed brief in an ED pub, checking out some dresses and sending me photos of the things she liked to ensure she was on the right lines, and then had appointments booked for me at 3 or 4 department stores which meant that I got the whole outfit sorted out in an afternoon. Not expensive but not free, so understand if not what you're after. She is my friend (so I guess I would say this!) but she is very unpushy and listened very well to what I wanted and got it for me, rather than pushing for her commission which is what I've felt in the past with departmental shoppers.
  6. There was a great post from "buggie" (senior paeds nurse) on this, perhaps last year - worth a search. I also swear by teeny weeny crap but crucially NEW toys (stocking filler type) and kids' magazines for the journey. Do not run out of snacks, water, tissues, plastic bags, wipes or comedy Superhero plasters. Bring a couple of changes of clothes
  7. 'tis too.
  8. Let's hope someone gets Sumo, then.
  9. Feel quite sorry for the volunteers at London Bridge, obviously hoping to help merry foreign Games-goers, rather than flint-faced commuters.
  10. Not one but TWO male Chinese tennis players. *sulks*
  11. I too was seen very promptly with an appointment.
  12. I am sick in bed. Not best birthday ever.
  13. I've just seen the torch too! Would have liked to have been in Peckham, 'cos that's my high street but I'm so glad I saw it anyway. Lots of smiles and cheering from the crowd and a fabulous sense of bonhomie. The torch-bearer looked SO proud and happy, I hope her family saw her. I wonder who she was - a grey-haired elegant black woman in her fifties - is there a list of torch-bearers somewhere? I don't mind the genuine antis, it's up to them if they don't like something. If I'm honest I do lose a little respect for the people who are complaining about the 'nuisance' though - it's only a few weeks.. Hurrah for the LONDON Olympics!

Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Even on the feckin' buses .... That's what did it for me. First at the station, now on the bus... half expecting him to pop up over the garden fence grinning his goofy grin. Although, very good call on Gervais, El Pibe. In fact, to misquote someone or other: you there, Gervais: Fuck off. And when you get there, fuck off from there too. Then fuck off some more. Keep fucking off until you get back here again. Then fuck off again.

    Boris! Shut it.
  16. I'm afraid I can't offer any useful advice but just wanted to say good luck and hang in there. I remember very well the exhaustion and despair (as well as the love and wonder) of the early weeks of my first and wondering what this 'babymoon' was. I don't think it helps that sometimes people talk about getting your baby into habits which fills one with worry - in my experience, babies change all the time, and you don't have to worry at all - you can address any 'habits' when the baby is a little older and when you have the strength. Good luck - there's some really good advice on the thread: take any help and rest you can, give yourself a break and remind yourself that by loving your baby you're doing everything that you need to be doing.
  17. Jazz on LL recently did a good job on my 2, including wriggly and water-hating 1 year old. From memory ?10 a pop.
  18. .....and I'll add that a little judgement is appreciated. Someone posting a silly single-letter post is not really worth reporting. It's also somewhat bad form to persistently PM members of the moderating team rather than reporting messages.
  19. No, it's for any breach of Forum rules that you feel needs to be dealt with by the moderating team or Admin.
  20. Yes. This is a reactively moderated forum so if you see something dodgy please report it and it will be removed. The moderating team all have jobs and family responsibilities and do the moderating around those responsibilities. They don't work shifts, they moderate as and when they can. It is therefore incredibly helpful, not to say essential, that the EDF community acts to make the forum what they want it to be by reporting posts that break the rules.

    Is it Friday yet?

Good point, thank you PGC. Am far too sober.
