For El Pibe Pass it on! The idea is that you should do one for another forumite.

I ride a giant fire-breathing unicorn wherever I damn well please.

Pb, wasn't me who moved your post but just so you know we don't automatically know you're talking about us - the mind-reading lizards thing is just a rumour ;-) Try reporting your message so it's seen by the whole team and I'm sure someone will let you know. Otherwise you'll have to wait until the person who moved it happens to read this thread again. Just a guess, but it may be that Admin scanned the titles and thought it seemed non-ED specific.

Would you have a male childminder?
Moos replied to nubby'smums's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son's kindergarten had a male teacher and all the kids (boys and girls) thought he was the best teacher ever. He was really into woodcraft, totally alternative, encouraged the little ones to be very independent and was as gentle as could be. He was an incredible role model for the children, and an excellent counterpoint for the female teachers. It is a great pity that men are being increasingly driven from traditional roles guiding and leading young children as primary school teachers and scout masters by attitudes and illogical (the odds are diminishingly small) thinking as has been expressed here. If the OP's friend does decide to be a childminder, perhaps his maleness could be his USP and he could play up to it. Of course a woman can be sporty and woodsy, but the cliche might work... -
I've been into King's twice to have my babies, the first was the longer stay as no.1 got stuck and ended up arriving by c-section. Both times hugely impressed by the quality of care from midwives, paeds and surgical team. This was before King's changed their 'turn no labouring woman away' policy, so the staff were under tremendous pressure. Both times I wrote in to say thanks (also sent chocolates) which is a small gesture but it's always nice to be thanked.

I've had it, PGC. It does Hirt a bit, but not for long. Less painful than ear piercing, definitely. Good luck! x x -
My dog was attacked this morning - near Goose Green

Oh good, the dogs v children debate again. -
I just "did" Gambados for the first time...
Moos replied to Otta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Obviously I'm bonkers, cos I rather enjoy Gambado! No.1 is almost too old to want to play with me, would rather gambol about with friends. Twosling still likes me around, huzzah. Any form of child care with a hangover = impossible torture. Never again. -

Bessemer Grange - Turning away nannies
Moos replied to espolea's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The debate has turned back towards earning ability, but on p.1 the point was well made by LondonMix, espelli, buggie and others that the distinction is intended to be between those who may need education in childcare and how the system works, like many new mothers of any background but perhaps particularly those in deprived areas, and those who do not, which latter of course should include qqualified and experienced childcarers like nannies. Peace and much respect to ALL mothers and fathers who make the right job, career and earnings choices for themselves and their families, no matter what that may be. It has truly been said that no-one can have it all. -

Agree with the above posters. Sydenham Woods are stuffed full of monsters' caves, brave explorers' dens, ruined castles, bandits, bridges over raging rapids, evil swamps and the like already. Not sure how much more fun could be packed in. Oh, they could restore the swing, though!

Leanne, two of your ads are still up, so that is probably why another may have been removed. Businesses are allowed to advertise themselves free once.

Actually, Medusa was the loveliest of mortal women, and was turned into a hideous snake-locked monster for having sex in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong guy. More of a morality lesson about time and place than genetic engineering. Beware holding up the mirror of metaphor, it can sometimes show images other than those you were expecting.

Good one, maxxi. DON'T then cock it up by revealing suspicious familiarity with the forum and with your previously banned self. (Hey, what happened to that Moos, was she banned or something? I thought she was always dead funny and a really great contributor...)

Trouble is the revised forum no longer has the link to moved posts as before, which allowed you to trace them. The last post before the move retained its place in the listing in the old 'room', and directed you to the new one. Not sure whether this (and other functionalities such as show/hide) may return or not. Anyway, I agree with Rosie so have put into ED businesses. Sorry for the confusion.

Can't comment on the going rate but as a matter of principle I'd argue that any responsible employer should pay for sick time, and pay for OFSTED. It is in the employers' interests that the nanny is OFSTED registered, as it enables them to pay the nanny from their pre-tax salary. There may be advantages for the nanny in being registered that I haven't thought of but it seems to me to be mostly for the benefit of the employer. Nannies aren't self-employed contractors, they are employees and should be looked after.
