Oh dear, and mine wasn't a swipe at you, I was on your side - as I said I don't think this is a parenting issue, it's a hygiene and manners issue so I don't see how anyone in his/her right mind could take that line. I can see how someone might think it when it comes to kids' behaviour - I've thought it myself when I see people glaring at me as my child is howling vilely on the bus and I'm wishing the floor would open up and swallow us both down - but in any circumstance it's pretty rude to say it out loud.

I didn't know who Sally James was, so I google-imaged her... 'fraid she looks nuffink like me. Nice stockings, though!

Any nappy changing in a public eating place is unacceptable. On a table! When changing facilities are unavailable! And above all when faeces is involved! Disgusting and abhorrent. BN5, I do hope you are wrong. bignumber5 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But then I don't have kids, and I'm fairly sure > that makes my opinion on this almost entirely > in-valid in the eyes of the nappy-changer. This isn't parents or non-parents, this is about basic standards of hygiene and consideration for others. I wouldn't change a shitty nappy in front of friends even in my own home - who wants to smell that!?

Yes indeed, most chiselled jaw in 3 continents. (I too am just jealous)

Yes, you can definitely tell whose idea it was! But I thought he did OK.

Do you mean that there are no jobs at the moment? I did say medium term... and even now there are still people changing jobs in the City.

I like Obama's idea of capping top level compensation including bonuses across the board - here. If the Government as a major shareholder were to insist on no bonuses for the banks they had bailed out, the medium-term result would be that they would lose their best staff across all levels, which would hardly be the best way to get back to profitability. Compensation caps would have to be applied to the whole industry for them to work. I agree that it would be interesting to see the RBS distribution. I believe the retail banks did fairly well against their targets last year, so presumably retail bankers expect some bonuses.

I was being silly. Cordelia was a woman. Honk may be of either sex, or both, or none. Well said, PGC! It takes genius to be delicately trivial.

Ah, thanks - was puzzled by your last post. (admin, sorry, but thought it would be rude not to acknowledge)

Honk's voice is ever soft, gentle and low - an excellent thing in woman.

I really don't know how to reply to that. I very much hope so too, good luck.

pk, I agree that dialling 999 should be purely for emergencies. Being conned out of a fiver is not an emergency. There's been quite a lot of recent publicity about people wasting the time of the emergency services by dialling 999 for trivial reasons, I'm surprised it's being suggested here. -
Bluecanary, when Cassius complained about a grim-faced woman she was talking about someone who didn't stop at a pedestrian crossing. "That was probably me. Can't stop for you all or else I'd never get anywhere!" Presumably you do expect other people to stop their cars for you and your family when they use pedestrian crossings?

*mumbles* I like Star Trek.

Besides which, if you are paying 2006 rental prices, then your landlord didn't increase your rent when interest rates went up in 2007 and 2008, so why should they reduce it now?

Hmm, think I'm on about 6 out of 15 - I'd better work on it before I can call myself a real man. David Carnellski, are you saying you wouldn't change your own baby's nappy? If so shame on you. Charliecharlie was quite right - it really is a piece of piss... david_carnell Wrote: > > 9. Change a nappy Did I give birth to it? No? > Then take it away.

Bless you, Keef, if I may so presume.

Am duly swanking extensively, smirking, pirouetting, swaggering* and generally looking down on all mortals. *unfortunately doing all these simultaneously seems to have led to left foot getting tangled with right ear, and arriving upon ground unexpectedly with a large thump. Thus the gods punish hubris.

OH MY GOD! We had pampas grass growing in our garden when I was a nipper, on the way to the front door! *goes off to ring Mum*
