  1. So with you on that one, RosieH - and the 'wattle neck' comments, and some others too. Grrr. Might have a little huffy flounce right now on the bus just from the memory.
  2. Yes, welcome back Belle! How did it go!?
  3. Lord McG you have a point, but it's not a wholly fair analogy. Buses- clear system, easy to use, hard to (genuinely) claim you didn't know what you were doing. Not so with parking. I'm not saying you can use ignorance as a defence, but (back to your ratiojalisation/emotion point re: posting) it helps understand where people are coming from, i.e. I didn't MEAN to break the rules. It is undeniably frustrating to be whacked for a big fine when you tried to do it right. Buses - one central public company, one set of rules. Not so with traffic wardens. Bus drivers aren't incentivised to catch fare dodgers either-at least, I think not! (That's presumably why the fare-dodger-catchers on buses and trains talk to people they've caught and make a decision whether to fine them or not...don't think you get that with traffic wardens. Oh dear, was that me trying to be serious? Shame on me. Back to the Lounge!
  4. Ah-ha... thought you were making a point but think I must be having a slow day because for the life of me couldn't see what it was! :-$
  5. Who are you, and what have you done with Sean?
  6. Hi cazzyr Since I'm one of the people who responded to robhdg's post, just wanted to say I am sorry that I was one of the people who made you feel excluded or judged. I haven't read ALL OF the previous pages so am not commenting on the argument but I hope that I am not misogynistic or homophobic, and I know for sure that many of the recent posters on this thread are good people. I hope you have found a group that you like - if you haven't I do know some local gay parents and can put you in touch if that would help - I myself am a local non-gay parent. Edited because I went back to find the quote just posted above, and found a post from me on page 4! Sorry. So I guess I have to have a view now... I hope cazzyr also goes back and re-reads both the wealth of positive comments that came her way, and also the comments that were challenging and questioning without being hostile.
  7. 17. I went to a new local restaurant and it wasn't NEARLY good enough. 18. Everyone round here is a disgusting snob. Except me. 19. There aren't any really funny new people on the Forum. OK, scratch the last one. :))
  8. As a parent... I agree with Annaj! ;-) Baby/child swapping stuff is absolutely valuable to sellers and buyers and is a wonderful way to reduce the dreadful waste that children engender - but of no interest at all to anyone else. And of course respecting Mr. Administrator's work load.
  9. I didn't see the women Libra Carr is talking about so he must have the final say, but I've never seen a Muslim woman in a headscarf that wasn't tightly bound to her head, and which would not obstruct her vision at all. Also-hurrah, this thread is now officially complete as Louisa has brought in the word snobs. Do we think she could be playing ED Buzzword Bingo? Cross-post with Asset...
  10. Oh, Annaj, I saw that programme and it was fantastic - I don't usually like reality TV but I think his approach is excellent. Good on the woman, and good on "Apples Gok". And BB I have refrained from offering you any advice on the tights/leggings thingy because I live in trousers and know nothing about dresses. (I tried to wear trousers to my wedding and only wore a dress in the end because my poor mother was so distraught.) But I'm sure you will look amazing, and confident. If you're feeling bold but not quite turquoise bold, what about tights/leggings/socks in a purple-toning shade of deep pink?
  11. is Davina shoes at 82 LL confirmed or a rumour?
  12. Bus crash near Tower Bridge
  13. Brendan's case is entirely proved by domestic cats. Lacking any sort of challenge and much actual danger in their lives they have evolved to the point where their brains are something like 75% of the size of their wild cousins. An exact analogy with the human condition? Hell, why not. ;-)
  14. Here's a picture of Ady's Road: "a good example of the second phase of Peckham's suburban development, ... designed for members of the lower-middle class and skilled artisans." http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/images/southwark/peckham/adys-road-00262-640.jpg Note the early horse-drawn Bugaboo.
  15. Tch, MacRoban, not worthy of our wise Chancellor. Problem?? Opportunity? One tree and a brawny young chap to hold up the other end / act as fan-wallah.
  16. American Pie (the original, not Madge). Heard it on the radio the other day while driving, and it's been popping in and out of my head since then. Luckily the radio version and not my carolling along.
  17. Thank you, MacRoban. Which end is the photo taken from?
  18. 'Pride of ED' - perhaps should be an ale rather than a boozer? MP-alas, was late for a visit to the hairdresser and could not stop. Wish I had - the two hours and hundred quid I've just entirely wasted would have been far better spent in a pub and good company. Raarrrrr. Um, somewhat off topic. Enjoy the crreeekit.
  19. Sorry Citizen, didn't ask him in the end as you guys ditched practice - don't think he's ever held a cricket bat. Maybe next summer... Good luck, fellas, the pride of ED goes with you!
  20. Ooh, this thread is brilliant, proper chaps sitting around talking about chap stuff. Do go on. Don't mind me. (and giggirl)
  21. I like a bit of rough too. Er...:-$
  22. Went in today for coffee/pastry injection, just hit the spot. Actually, the (very pleasant) guy in there was aware of the bad experience of scotslass' other half (he mentioned it to me when I commented that people on the forum were talking about the caf?) and he seemed really worried about it. Understand the frustration, but I don't think they are shrugging off mistakes.
  23. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > not everyone's > cup of tea Blimey, *Bob*, you do choose your metaphors. Firstmate, if you wholly support parents' right to go out without feeling judged, why do you make comments like 'I can only conclude that they hadn't had enough play prior to the pub, or they were over stimulated/over tired' Jah - sorry - I've been at least partially responsible for the dragging on and on of this thread, even though I too am immensely bored and somewhat depressed by it. Just - can't - seem - to - stop - myself - posting - aargh!
  24. I believe so, making it demonstrably untrue that there is only one gay in the Village.
  25. on the cehap, like d_c's keyboard. Or my jokes. (edited to get that one in before d_c does)
