I agree it's unacceptable that anyone eligible should be unable to vote, but faced with people who do have polling cards and those that don't (slower to process) it seems to make sense that those without should have been processed separately.
  2. Oi! I had a vitamin only last month. Come on PGC, Belle, let's get 'im. Besides, I heard a rumour that you were contemplating Peckhamhood... so be careful what you say.
  3. Surely that must be the ultimate brownie, when someone complains it's too big and too chocolatey? ;-)
  4. snowboarder, I too have been there and to reassure you right at the start, it's worn off and I now sleep normally again. At the time of feeling insomniacal (is that a word?) I went to the GP who gave me some excellent advice: no naps, no lie-ins, but try to go to bed at the same time every day, and stick to it. Well, no lie-ins was a bit too much when Mr. Moos offers at weekends, but otherwise I did stick to it, and it really helped. Good luck... sleep will return..
  5. I thought 'Beauregard' was a nice touch. Have got rather bored of Quentin and Tarquin.
  6. Christ, me too. More later.
  7. Thank you for taking the time to respond in detail to the questions.
  8. Cats and vets ditto. But I came on to whinge about pomegranate seeds. How are you supposed to eat them?
  9. Er, put my bag down.
  10. felt-tip Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I live in Upper East Dulwich Heights > > ie. past the Mag. Is that the same as the 'Upper East Side' that I've heard referred to?
  11. Another vote for a JL cotbed here - our son has been in his since he was tiny, for the first few weeks in a Moses basket. Now converted into a proud big-boy bed. Not sure whether drop sides would have been good but we haven't missed them. The cotbeds do allow 2 or 3 levels at which you can place the mattress. A good quality mattress is a good investment. We've also had good value from an IKEA chest of drawers with folding changing table top. Came in a horrid colour which we incompetently painted white.
  12. It seems to me perfectly logical that East Dulwich road cannot possibly be in East Dulwich...
  13. We got corner protectors from Mothercare for a particularly wicked set of fireplace corners and a few times in the crazy early toddling days had cause to be glad of them. Damn kids of course pulled them off whenever they could but such is life.
  14. Are you free tomorrow, Keef? :)
  15. Mmm, yeah, it's hard to explain but it's just a bit disappointing when a conversation you thought was on the level turns out to have an agenda. Probably just crossed wires and not anyone's fault. Disclaimer, in case anyone thinks I'm really up myself: hasn't happened very often or for a very long time! :)
  16. Sophiesofa, I think I might know what you mean - is it like when you meet a guy who's pleasant and friendly and you think - hey, I may have a new friend here, brilliant - and then he leches all over you and you realise Oh, you just liked my tits then, I thought you thought I was a nice person.
  17. No, course not (re: St. G). Just wondered whether Paddy's day meant anything different / more on home turf than the general pissup and greenwigwearing buffoonery it means elsewhere.
  18. Do people in Ireland, Sean? *waves* hello btw, haven't seen you in ages!
  19. I suppose there had to be a downside to summer :(

OK, I'll bite, and I'll skip over the bleedingly obvious fact that we used to have similar deterrants in this country for theft, which astonishingly didn't result in a no-theft society. In your fundamental world, what would then happen to the thief with one arm? How is he going to earn a living in the future? I imagine in Afghanistan, he is eligible to no state help or handouts, so becomes a beggar or continues to try to thieve, rather than starve.

    Just under 200, *bob*.
  23. I'm not sure using the family room is the best way to reach James Barber. He's not obliged to read the entire forum to check whether someone has posted a thread for him. Suggest you either post on his thread in the main room or email or PM him directly.
  24. Is thread only for musical artists?
  25. Good questions, well done Chair and everyone submitting.
