  1. What you said was 'babies reject formula... Who would blame them... It tastes awful, smells awful...' Pretty insensitive stuff to anyone who can't breastfeed and you must know that it isn't true. So why say it? I didn't say formula is easier or better, the benefits of breastfeeding speak for themselves. But I find casual judgements of formula as being 'vile' just rude since clearly millions of babies like it and thrive on it.
  2. Sorry, but it's complete nonsense to generalise that babies who are breastfed don't like the taste of formula. Your son might not, but there are plenty of people (myself included) who mix-fed perfectly successfully. Exactly the kind of untruthful militant formula-is-bad rubbish that drives me crazy.

    Apple's iPad

My flashy CEO has one and, er.. he likes it. I don't know why he's bothered, as he also has the supremely beautiful slender Apple laptop which can't weigh much more and has good horsepower.

Gender is not a priority for > the way most women, or indeed most men, vote. Au contraire, Blackadder. I won't vote for a woman because she's prioritised her career over family I'm trying to link to the comment by niledynodely on 9th April at 2.30am, not the last post, by Huguenot. This comment took me aback, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a commonly held view among those who prefer their politicians to live and look like themselves. Or at least their husbands :)
  5. Still, Nether Wallop was fun.
  6. OutOfFocus, James might not read this thread - best to post on his thread?
  7. A nice try, but one doesn't eat them or put them on a table or even (eek!) hang them from a wall at any angle that makes them look round so... no. Could it be, everyone, that *Bob* is making this all up as he goes along? I for one would be shocked, shocked. I was relying on him to save me from social death.
  8. That reminds me of once passing a beautiful field full of flax, a sea of blue rippling in the breeze quite lovely in itself, but someone had completed the illusion by putting a toy sailboat on a post in the middle of the field. It was years ago, but it still makes me smile that whoever it was thought of it and did it.

  10. There'll be something in the contract to say that the company can read emails, but they still need a justification for doing so. If you send an email entitled 'Private' and the company reads it without having a good reason to (e.g. they're on record as investigating you for abuse of company property or similar), they're breaching your right to privacy.
  11. I don't agree that dogs should be kept on leash in the park - I don't own a dog, but surely the park and common should be places where dogs can run around and enjoy themselves? Of course, their owners need to respect dog-free areas and leash areas as well.
  12. ????! So true, both of those. Conversely, our whole family is mad about 'Up' and Moosling goes around pointing his walking stick at his parents shouting 'I don't want you here and I don't want you here! I'm stuck with you!' :-$
  13. Here we go, blame it on the wives... ;-)
  14. Classic passive-aggressive comment. If you were really willing not to pursue it further then you would have let the topic lie. Either actually leave it, or have the courage to say what you think. Sounds to me as though poor Tor is just venting her frustration and feels that she should be able to get her child into her local school. But go ahead and look for a fight if that's what drives you.

  16. A powerful message, simply delivered. I particularly like the use of the royal we.
  17. Probably a stupid question, but does 'adjacent to' mean 'parked over'? You are allowed to park next to a dropped kerb area, aren't you?

Square Plates. But Bobski, what will I be able to discern as a result? How outraged must I be? Is it just a little sniff and a subtle rearrangement of my disordered silver? Or do I have to fix them with a basilisk stare and sweep from the house, never to return? We must know these things.
  19. Ooh, and a glossy magazine, so you can burp fatly over pictures of ladies looking lovely in tight-fitting trendy clothes.
  20. For the record, the perfect breakfast is a couple of poached eggs, brown toast, tomato, lots and lots of crispy bacon, some slightly overcooked sausages and NO bloody mushrooms. (Mushrooms! Ugh, the foul black leaky juice.) And really good coffee and lots of juice. And no kids. (Though the young ones are tasty)
  21. I'm still waiting to hear what it does say about people. I don't know anyone with square plates - what does that say about me? All I've managed to glean so far is that they somehow can be likened to dungarees. Confused Of Peckham
  22. My mother reported craving oranges when pregnant with my brother - sounds rather healthy - but with me it was gallons and gallons of condensed milk, consumed secretly from a stash under her bed. Mmmmm...
  23. The heron larking about in the Japanese Garden in Peckham Rye Park

It's not being against naked women that riles him.
