    a joke

Loving the indignation - imagine the cheek of it, posting a joke about the wrong shade of politician! Whatever next?
  2. I didn't shampoo my son's hair for the first year or so but after that it started to look quite flat and greasy when washed only with water, so we switched to a baby shampoo, and now wash his hair about once a week. I agree that the self-balancing thing is possible for many people, but maybe not for everyone - definitely hold back if not sure. Bouncy chair - think once they can hold their heads up a little? Definitely before 12 weeks anyway.
  3. We had a wonderful 3-generational day - so lovely to be able to celebrate being a mother and a daughter at the same time - my thoughts with people who are no longer able to say 'thank you so much' to their mothers. And hurrah re: babySB sleeping through - I'm sure you would have heard him if he had wanted you to!
  4. Gosh anna75, I bet forumites are just longing to help you out now after your gracious and grateful response to posts so far.

The whole of Surrey is a racket. Fact.

  7. You're welcome to try a size 6 Nature Care if you like - although our son still regularly pees through his at night and wakes up soaked. Not that it seems to bother him! I'm currently musing over the environmental impact of having to wash his pyjamas, sheet, sleeping bag etc. 3 or 4 times a week vs trying Pampers Baby Dry.
  8. Many congratulations to the happy couple - so that's what all this Spring sunshine was for!
  9. Yes to immunisations.
  10. I don't know sb... wish I could tell you. With my son it took about a week for the breakthrough after which he slept much better, and after that it was the usual back-and-forth gradual improvement. During nap time I made him stay in his cot even when he was hopping mad, which was hard to do, just went in and shushed him every couple of minutes so he knew he wasn't on his own. Not everyone's cup of tea, I do realise.
  11. What Molly said! Babies are creatures of habit and they like what they know... once he gets used to it he'll start to think it was his idea.
  12. By the way, I know what you mean about restrcting your life...it is fun being able to be out and about whenever you like... But honestly it will be worth it!
  13. Moosling always napped in his pram in the early days, never got beyond 45 minutes, ie one sleep cycle, while I marched grimly round and round the park. He only started to sleep properly (and now he's a great sleeper) once he started to nap at home. If he's exhausted by 12, would a 15 minute mini-nap at 9 help him tide over till lunchtime? And really agree with candj about fresh air and exercise in the morning. Suggest when he wakes after one sleep cycle try to encourage him to back to sleep. Hopefully if you persevere he'll get the trick. Best of luck!
  14. *narrows eyes* You sir are a cad and a bounder, a bounder I tell you. Were I a man, I should tan your hide for you.
  15. I miss Honk too - come back Honk!

David, your comment is laughably early '09. Do keep up.
  17. Hi Pirate - really sorry to hear you got mugged, hope you aren't too shaken up and will be back to swashbuckling and terrorising the high seas before long.

If you've had enough of the organising, you have more than done your fair share - maybe someone else's turn to take on the mantle of social secretary?
  19. Not me - I can't see myself going to any in the near future.
  20. Afraid there is, Trump. I recently had to report some faeces on a bench which I cannot be sure wasn't human - if it was a dog's it must have been an enormous and rather agile one. That said, I do think there is less now than when we had the fence up.
  21. Interesting that the consultation document doesn't propose replacing the fence that previously diagnonally bisected the Green along the path, but instead proposes a possible small dog-free area. I would prefer to keep the whole of the Green open to everyone, but increase the number of checks and clean-ups. I also suggested the Green would be improved by adding planting around the edges, to reduce the impact of the traffic.
  22. Er, Huguenot, Loz was suggesting you are like Sir Humphrey. And I don't think he was implying Mr. Barber is making personal profit from this.
  23. Dunno louisiana, never been to one. :) But since the parties appear to have a sincere desire to discuss topics of national importance and/or bash the living daylights out of one another, why not a debate? Alternatively, start a Manifesto thread on which each party could submit a piece of no more than 1000 words, following which forumites could submit questions to the Chair who could co-ordinate a Q&A session, with each party being given the opportunity to answer each of the questions.
  24. Perhaps a formal debate in the Drawing Room closer to the elections would be useful and interesting?
