When was East Dulwich at it's best for you?
lindylou replied to Otta's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
1960. The majic shop, where the fish and chip shop now is, before sainsburys. On the sainsburys thread, does anyone remember sainsburys freezer centre? You could buy a whole lamb, literally, cut into joints. It was before iceland. You are going back a very short way. I remember the old slag heap (that was the name for useless coal/coke)at bottom or lordship lane. My grandad lived on the dog kennel hill estate (his old place on ruby street, old kent road was pulled down), he used to get an old pram and fill that up with slag heaps to burn the fire. When he said "run" my goodness you had to move pretty quick or else the watchman would catch you. -
In 1958 I was a sunbeam in the school summer play. This makes me eligible for the Star role. (lindylou feeling better, medication sorted, re bipolar).

Hi pugwash. So pleased to hear something positive. Re beckenham group - i went on a number of occasions but found it as helpful as a chocolate teapot. i.e everyone talking about how they used to be...not how they are now. The two women who ran the meeting were friends who had met up years ago and all they talked about was personal stuff, yadah, yadah, yaday. Well, personally, i would like to meet up with similar bipolar sufferers and try to make friends, move on and learn to enjoy ourselves.

thank you all for your helpful advice. I am contacting Mind this morning and have also been put in touch with a Bipolar organisation. Will keep you posted. Thank you all once again. I feel stronger knowing that I can seek help which I didnt know I was able to.

What the hell is happening? I suffer from bipolar, osteoporosis, osteoporosis. I have been told that I am fit for work and put on jobseekerS ALLOWANCE. consequently i am going to be thrown out of my home because it has 2 bedrooms and i cannot afford to pay for the extra room. I have attempted suicide on 3 previous occasions i would like to apologise to this government that i did not succeed but i have a grandchild that i would dearly like to see. I apologise to all you tax payers out there who feel they are supporting me. I worked from the age of 15 - 34. My health stopped me from working further. I will not allow myself to be put to ground in an area that (a) i dont know and (b) i dont want to be. My two grandfathers fought hitler, now i feel i am being hounded like the jewish people were.

Sorry, but I have to agree with grumpy old man. James in the past has helped me immenseley. I have mental health problems and had a problem with southwark council repairs. If it wasnt for the help and kindness of james I don't know what I would have done. thank you James and take no notice of the negatives.

re riots - should we be active and on the streets?
lindylou replied to danmaitland's topic in The Lounge
have decided to shame all you lot on LL and will stand their by myself. Hope ur all ashamed of yourselves. This is our community, our shops, our families, our homes. -
The way i see things is thus: i absolutely abhor what is happening in my country. But peckham, brixton and all the other places you could mention have now become a melting pot to place all immigrants. Peckham and brixton have had their problems for years, but it all seemed pretty much sorted until the local councils decided to dump every single nationality on earth on their doorsteps. I in no way condone what has happened, i deplore it. But something major has to happen and now.

"a...holes to human rights and civil liberties. We are now in a riot situation. Let common sense prevail not civil liberties.

I MAY BE CRAZY (BIPOLAR TO YOU LOT), but by the love of god, crazy or not, i would have known if my son was up to this stuff. You may ask where are the parents. but when my son was young he had a friend whose mother w3as "on the panel" at the then william penn school. It was heartbreaking. hese kids had prostitute, drug addict mothers and absent fathers, they were often left with no fo9od, didn't know who their mother was going to bring home, etc. i am in no way condoning what is happerning, but i thank god for my own parents who help[ed me through a bad time and i thank god for mky loving, hardworking, adorable son. IS THIS IS WHAT'S MISSING, THE GRANDPARENT FACTOR?

henryb what more description are you looking for and for what reason?

Hi lady whatever. My god, what a secluded life you have lead. My reco0mmendations are thus: (1) go to peckham (you may look this awful place up on your satnav insta llled on your bentley). Once thgere ask a gentleman of different colour wherre to go, my suggestipon of this would be "Oi. bruv, oohs got the dope, man." once anmswered one could always decide decline to ones country home or choose to get laid by a vilain? Sadly this has never happened to me, Good luck in london, saddo .My main suggestion to

PS> who is this sheepdog whop wants to set up a vigilante group? The mind, especially mine, boggles.

Thank you both so much zeban and helena handbasket. I truly have suffered throughout my life but believe my son has suffered more than me. But I will leave that aside and relate my mother and father's problems. My father grew up in such extreme poverty that he coulds not go to school as he had no shoes or trousers. There was no such thing as social security in those days. But did he steal from people? NO. My mother was the 7th child of a 7th child living in bermondsey, my grandfather hadf been killed in the war. They were completely poverty stricken. In order to survive my grandmother had to take in lodgers in an already overcrowded home. Did my mother turn to crime, NO. Much of todays problems seem to come from complete avarice. I wish i could go back to the 1950's when i was born and relive those happy days when no-one had anything, didn't want anything but were happy with their lot. Thank you all for reading my post, i hope i haven't offended anyone.

I cannot believe some of these posts. I have suffered mental health most of my life yet still managed to bring up a child alone in, so called, poverty. My som went without many things in life and also had to look after me. He never, ever turned to crime or a gang. He now has a very good job, is a father and a good one at that, never complained and just got on with his life. He has never bemoaned the fact that he didn't have the latest phone, computer, trainers, etc. etc. Poverty and hardship do not make criminals, in my view parents have a lot to do with this. Throughout my illness my own parents have often had to take over the care of my son and woe beditide anyone who does not respect authority in front of my parents. Maybe that is the answer, grandparents are estranged many times from our kids lives. They have a lot to offer and many have good advice to give and also so much love and time.

Man stabbed to death near East Dulwich station
lindylou replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
my condolences to the victims family. RIP. -
Hi everyone. Am still trying to organise this. There are no local groups available. Venue is no problem we just need x amount of sufferers who would like to attend on an ad hoc basis to chat amongst ourselves, realise that we are not suffering alone, swap help notes and basically help one another along.

Hi betsy. If you are posting a genuine message (whixh I hope you are), could you please give me the name of your therapist as i am interested in past life regression and hope this would help me sort out lots of stuff that i have going on at the moment.
