  1. So sorry to hear this. Was she injured? Any other details?
  2. Roasted cauliflower is excellent but not a new dish. Think it has come over from North America. I've been doing it for over 3 years, along with roasted sweet potatoes and sprouts. Tonight I did roasted mushrooms, in olive oil, garlic and white wine. I find it easier to toss the vegetables in a bowl with olive oil and whatever spices you are using and then put in oven. They are more evenly coated that way.
  3. Considering what Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles's salaries were, the figure of 300 pa does sound rather cheap for what is being asked.

That would be down to the greedy councils wanting to make money on planning applications regardless of whether or not they are submitted by owner or leaseholder. Was once told by a planning officer that I could submit an application to put an extension on Buckingham Palace if I wanted to.
  5. Penguin, Apparently it cost about 700k to convert the 'second hand' pram shop into the ED Deli. What were the rubbish shops?
  6. Agree with Vik. The news report I just heard did not say anything about suicide.

All are fraught with danger. Suspect > this is part of the populatirty of internet > grocery shopping. Yeah, well, stuff happens like that. What about getting a trolley and wheeling it from car. Or just take in perishables first and leave the other stuff till later.

First you said these people are not committing a crime. Then you said they are committing a crime/offence by restricting access to a parking space that is not reserved for your use.
  9. Is there a list of stallholders, partic. food?

  11. Not sure why people coming to M&S (a destination?) will want to go to a gift shop on LL.
  12. Does your neighbour have a spy hole and a door chain? Too many trusting people, esp. elderly, open their doors without checking who it is first, even in the daytime. If you aren't expecting anyone, then don't open the door, esp. if you are elderly, on your own, or disabled.
  13. On Guardian website or Channel 80 Freeview. BBC news channel.
  14. Worker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So we're only concerned about those independent > shops who sell 'posh' food? Who is we? Iceland was here long before the 'posh' food shops. So maybe the 'we' are concerned that the newer businesses will suffer from the arrival of M&S.

It would be seen by lots of people and possibly the people who put the bins out, or their friends.
  17. Iceland and M&S are not aimed at the same market.

ED would need a Waitrose and Wholefoods for that. Motorway service stations have M&S shops and they are hardly gentrified.
  19. Agree with WoD, perhaps ring the highways dept. of the council and see if they can do something like send them a letter, warning that if they continue to do this they will be fined.......or do what GrahamP says. Unpleasant, but then their bins should not be in the street. Am sure that is some kind of blocking the road offence.
  20. Huguenot has established his own clique.
  21. Willow tree? Add vinegar if no lemons.
  22. Please let's not have Lordship Lane become Clone Lane.

You can buy your stuff there.
  25. Where do you normally shop Alec? Lemon juice would improve your tuna and beans.
