  1. Thanks Ted, marvellous, who'd have thought such passions could be aroused. I'm afraid I'm going pvc on my new build. It does look a bit shit and part of me regrets it especially as we're spending a fair bit of wedge to keep the house as close to the original look as possible (100 year old farm house, 250 year old out houses) using reclaimed slate, hand cut bricks etc. But as we're going eco home and using triple glazed thermally broken windows it's simple economics. pvc = 40k wood = 80k Maybe not a no brainer, but certainly a not big enough pocketer.
  2. Chicken View has a certain ring to it.
  3. with a bit of luck they'll soon be driven by the google driverless car. No doubt I'll always somehow end up with the one that installed the 'milwall fan banter' plugin :(
  4. adam curtis, in the spirit of mars curiosity, links to a programme from the 50s where George King channels a VEnusian with a remarkable RP accent. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/2012/08/mental_channel_number_one_-_th.html weirdly charming and as far removed from the Paxman school of interview as possible.
  5. Excellent news, we can bury the "Never The Vale" tag once and for all. All I ask is that the beer is potable, it's a great location and one of the few spots in the area with a half decent garden. It has long been less than the sum of its parts, so if you get the basics right, make the place welcoming the rest should take care of itself. Good luck you shinny happy people you!
  6. I dunno, it looks quite good to me http://www.tvcream.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/pigeon.jpg
  7. Getting a good dismount from the rings is paramount.
  8. If we're doing too much information, we've had a pretty nasty bug (the both ends type) rip through the whole family, so truth be told I was pretty fortunate that it was just the race and not the toilet bowl I missed.
  9. I had a poo during the 100 metres. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss much. Hat's off to Murray yesterday though.
  10. Olympic sport funds sports to the tune of 264 million pounds and the paralympic sports to the tune 50 million give or take. This includes both national lottery and direct governement funding via DCMS and corporate sponsorsip Breakdown below http://www.uksport.gov.uk/sport/summer/

Is it about a little sushi place in town somewhere.....?
  13. First time we've had both kids asleep so we actually got to pay undivided attention to it. La Piba and I both had goose bumps, I reckon the crowd put an extra bit of fuel in all their tanks, legendary stuff that I'm sure young kids will have wonderful glowing memory of it like I did of ovett, Coe, wells and Daley Thompson back in the day.

In all fairness I don't think you can blame him for failing to secure peace, at least he suggested something workable unlike a certain other middle east peace envoy. I think that responsibility lies with Assad and his cronies who decided to murder citizens rather than let them have a say in the running of the country. Something tells me Bashar won't be getting a pension when he retires. Interestingly I went to uni with his son Kojo who later made a headline or two...
  17. a gem from wiggo "To win Olympic gold in your home city in a velodrome would have been incredible, with three or four thousand people cheering you on. But to do it round the streets of wherever we are, it was phenomenal. Going through Kingston at the end there, the noise was amazing. I was trying to soak it in because I had no memories of my last Olympics. And it doesn?t get much better than this setting, in front of wherever we are, that castle. It?s just so British, isn?t it?"
  18. Ah sorry, too much time exposed to NewNexusitis means my immune response tends to kick in at the merest whiff..
  19. well it won't contain a vaccine for a hitherto unknown mutation will it. Or are you suggesting it will contain mind control drugs? Has New Nexus hacked your account?
  20. There is no milk in the 4th floor east kitchen. I am having to drink builders' tea black. Bleagh! I am too lazy to go to the 4th floor west kitchen.
  21. Yes. Vaccine will be of no use against a mutated cross-species strain. I do tend to agree that it really should be only offered to children with health conditions. But then 19 healthy kids died in the 2009 pandemic, that's 19 devastated families probably demanding enquiries as to why vaccines weren't offered to kids etc. In politics the old adage about damned if you do damned if you don't is truer than in most walks of life.
  22. I'm pretty sure we don't have ?17M kicking about the place, still a loan is a marvellous move, now all we have to do is go down to prevent bankruptcy :-/
  23. hmm, the pitfalls of being called into a short meeting betwixt starting typing and pressing post :-/
  24. Interestingly we have one very similar to that tucked up near us on Champion Hill. I couldn't tell you where that is though, somewhere near the cafe on Peckham Rye?
