  1. I want one...and an iPhone, but I can't afford either.
  2. BR, I'm not so sure it's our only chance of silverware but I do think as a manager you would have done the same. The result against Leeds meant that priorities changed, I would have thought being flexible and being willing to change your initial plans were good traits in a mamnger in business or sport.
  3. It was a good game and as I was reading somewhere today, it's a compliment to City how seriously this tie was taken by United. I was disgusted with the coin and bottle throwing. Suprisingly there was one idiot in the pub I was in and he was United so it shows it takes all sorts. At least that winner was a bit closer to full time than the league game!
  4. I don't remember you all being so outraged when it was the other way round at Eastlands last week. There are idiots at any game. It's disgraceful behaviour but it's not something that 75,000+ other fans that were there would even consider doing.
  5. Robinho finally gone! No great loss.
  6. We should be ok without him for that one LG. ;-)
  7. Rio banned for four games. That's not good. Linky!
  8. I was thinking he could take one of his golf cronies who would pay for themselves. ?45 for anicely presented course and a meal isn't too much to ask a friend is it?
  9. You can get 18 holes and two course lunch at Dulwich and Sydenham for ?45! Link!
  10. Have Pompey not paid another bill? Stick 50p in the meter! Ah, it's back. Normal service resumed.
  11. This whole thing about Arsenal playing beautiful football and all the rest are just thugs and blaggards etc. etc. seems to have got out of hand. They do tend to have skillful players at the club and many are a joy to watch. The unbeaten season saw some of the best football from a team I have ever seen and am ever likely to see. These two facts don't mean that A. Everyone else must fall into line and play their way. B. They don't often come unstuck psychologically against teams they see as being 'stronger' than them. C. They don't try and pass the ball into the net a little too much and D. Hasn't got them a trophy for a few seasons. I don't get all the holier than thou stuff. Play the game, play the team you are matched against that week and play to your strengths. That's all you can do.
  12. Thanks Matt. A little dismissive of our past achievements but it's nice of you to say so.
  13. Great cup tie! I know we won but it must have been a cracker for the neutrals. Even Carlos looked happy at the end.
  14. Phew.
  15. Argh, stop being nice about United players. It confuses me on this thread.
  16. 'bout now Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there another Wayne Rooney? The one I watch > play for MU is a fantastic player with a full > range of passing, work rate, goals and only 24 > years old. What more could you want? Listen, don't get me wrong, I love the chap. You are right, of course, he's extremely skillful and as I said a great goalscorer. what I didn't express very well was my feeling that he sometimes tries to win a game on his own. He drops further and further back as a game goes on, when we are losing, to the point where he'll be trying to pick balls up in advanced defensive positions. This often leaves the side a bit targetless up front.
  17. They are all loons. They spend too much time in the cold and damp if you ask me. It corrodes their circuits. Fergie is impetuous and sometimes childish. It's all part of the siege mentality that he likes to instill at the club which, to be fair, has worked pretty well over the years. Declan, I'm with you on both those points. Rooney is a great goalscorer and he's an asset to the club but I'm not sure he has ever shown his full potential. He's been lucky that Ronaldo and Berbatov have made him look good, albeit in totally different ways! ;)
  18. Bloomin Scouser! (Alan Green I mean.) ;-)
  19. I also think that you have to take into account the downtourn in global finances. The deal for Tevez was agreed (supposedly) before the global recession kicked in and I think you would find any large institution re-evaluating commitments made before the bottom fell out of the world financial markets. It's certainly something that other big businesses have done and so why not a football club? It's pretty short sighted of Tevez and his representatives not to take this into account and think of his long term future at a great club. I'm sure we'll beat them tonight, but even if we don't Tevez won't go on to achieve as much as Gary Neville has in his career. Tevez should respect him and his past glories.
  20. I just want a spiral clock at home but can't find how to buy one. Save the wall by knocking it down! Then rebuild it.

  22. Yes. I wonder how long we can string out the appeal until we lose him for another three games!
  23. I didn't thinkyou were taking the Pee mockers. I think Tightrope, Ten Storey Love Song, Good Times, How Do You Sleep and Love Spreads are seminal works. I am much derided for that opinion. My wife and I had Tightrope playing before our marriage ceremony.
  24. I think me and Sean (of the Dead) are the only people to like Second Coming. I can listen to that album over and over again....after fast forwarding through the over blown intro of coures.
  25. Presumably they are for people who don't like caffeine, alcohol or meat. Personally I won't be going to 'their' house for dinner. ;-)
