  1. You knew who I meant Matthew. :-$ The corner seemed to work. Even if the first one didn't it broke their concentration for the next corner. It reminded me of the free kick that Giggs and Scholes worked a few seasons back, both making a run up to take the kick, stopping as if to let the other take it and they'd made a mistake and beginning to walk away and then Giggs whipping round and sending the ball into the box. Personally I thought it was pretty clever and there didn't seem to be much wrong with it. I've just seen the 'foul' you are talking about again on the news and I can't see it, if the Chelsea defenders wanted to get around Vidic it wouldn't have been difficult they just didn't look very committed . Great to have Evra back. He makes such a difference for us with his pace, crossing and those overlapping runs.
  2. That'll do nicely. That was a lesson for Chelsea today. As I was in the pub I couldn't hear half-time comments but I'm betting that a combination of Murphy, Carragher and Redknapp on Sky weren't totally United friendly. Now onto Wigan on Wednaseday.
  3. I think that's a fair point Matthew. I guess the refs will be under a little more scrutiny in the next few games and tomorrow is huge. I know a couple of Liverpool fans who had lost patience with Rafa before this seasons good form (and those lucky late goals at the beginning of the campaign ;-)) and it seems to me that it won't take many more games where he makes those sort of choices for them to come round to that kind of thinking again.
  4. See, the mindgames worked! ;-) Before I go on I still think United will lose tomorrow. What was Benitez on though? No Keane? No Torres until it was too late? Some very odd choices.

Steady on Mac, you won't make any friends on here being pro Man Utd in anyway! ;-) It seems to be a fair reading of the Benitez outburst though. People I have spoken to (not Man U fans) have said similar things. I think his biggest mistake was using the M word. The only person who never uses the M word is Fergie.
  6. He was very in control. Steely of will and unbreakable of heart! Very admirable.
  7. Hee, hee, so this is how it begins...is he falling into the trap? Personally, I don't believe half the cobblers that's spouted about 'mindgames'. Doesn't he contradict himslef though? He quotes instances of Fergie being punished then says he's the only manager who can talk to refs without getting punished?
  8. I love the idea of him pulling out a list of things he wanted to say, bless him.
  9. I like this story. Fergie never gets punished...oh hang on..
  10. God, I had forgotten about The fiver, I was signed up on a now obsolete account and haven't reasd it for a couple of years. I am now off to re-subscribe. I love the "prancing horse" line.

I'm not defending them because they are possibly guilty. I am just waiting to find out the truth before accusing them, not paying attention to the drivel spouted by some right wing, fascist rag. The examples I gave were to show the sensational journalism of your favourite paper. And for the record I am going for a 1-1 draw this weekend or a United loss.
  12. lol, very good. I liked the way that the BBC website went from "Ronaldo uninjured in crash" to "Ronaldo survives Ferrari smash!" (ok, I added the exclaimation mark).
  13. I expect so. Doesn't an offence like this carry the death sentence according to your favourite read the Daily Mail? Hang them both I say! Guilty until proven innocent! Let's look back on some of your virtuous and squeaky clean Liverpool players: Daily Mail Daily Mail Daily Mail Just a small selection.
  14. I'll let you have that one Keef....just this once. ;-)
  15. I'm working with the Archive Researcher who worked on the film and he (obviously) says it's brilliant. I'm looking forward to it too.
  16. I was thinking more starters Anna. Anyway, they should all be good enough to beat Derby, so a poor show. SimonM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You should never underestimate the Brian Clough > magic in cup ties.....even from the grave! I just started reading "The Damned United" last night and couldn't put it down. What a great book!
  17. Well, Tevez, Vidic and Rafael on from the start. Rooney, Ronaldo and Carrick on mid-second half. I wouldn't say the rest were 'first team' exactly. Reasonably strong compared to a Championship side...yes.
  18. Before anyone else puts the knife in, we were poor tonight, we had no midfield structure. All I can think is that it was damage limitation for the weekend, then we put out a full strength side on the 20th to give em a good tonking.
  19. Ha, ha, ha. Talking on the pitch!? So that'll be no league title for 18 years? Let's see where you are in May eh? Long live Fergie!
  20. Change the record Matthew, maybe if you had a manager with a personality he might make a few more headlines. And Redknapp is a crook, always has been, always will be. Isn't it true that Pompey (under Redknapp) didn't pay the fee for Defoe?

    New Who

*Places nerdy hat on head* *Clears throat in a "I can't believe you people don't know this, I shall enlighten you" kind of way* For starters this will be the the 11th Dr, secondly, they can only regenerate twelve times and thirdly I believe there are ways of getting around the 12 regenerations rule.... *Pushes glasses up nose, pats pen protector in top shirt pocket*
  22. Hmm, let me think. Gets paid millions. Is one of the best all round midfielders in the world. Has an incredible work rate and can pull a team up by their bootlaces on those rare occaisions when no-one else looks like they want to play. I can't see them treating him like Joey Barton. And, before I get slapped, I don't think United would be any different and I also am not assuming he is guilty.
  23. lol, tell it like it is Squids!
  24. And there's me thinking the league finishes in May...;-)
  25. It's not the New Year yet. Don't get too previous.
