  1. he looks a bit swarthy to me
  2. I have loaned dvds books tools to people I know/knew and they have NEVER been returned without me having to ask or collect. It gives one a great excuse for totally ignoring them forever....
  3. I knew a Liverpudlian who used to be a social worker and had elocution lessons to get rid of the accent. You would never have known to speak to her....so you never know. My granny was Irish but her parents changed her and her brothers' names and got rid of the accents but she always said 'fillum' for film....
  4. In 5 years time we may very well have a useless, bunch of squander bugs called the Labour Party in charge and then the future will be very gloomy indeed as they try yet again to secure a permanent place in Parliament by lifting all restrictions on any kind of immigration like Blair did last time. We will be well and truly fubar if that happens
  5. Been with Virgin ever since it was Telewest thingy....never had a problem except when some low-lives ripped the cables out of the box once years ago
  6. Of course everything is going to get worse as more people pile into the capital...all future plans are obsolete before they are realised. Ultimately politicians are in charge and they are interested in only 2 things...power and your votes!
  7. All those workers' rights and industrial relations would have happened here anyway - England has been at the forefront of that sort of progress since Victorian times- e.g. Equal Pay Act 1970 which is before the EU.... It's a pity really that there is such a plethora of cheap building labour because some of the eyesores around East Dulwich and elsewhere would never have been built if there hadn't have been.
  8. I like the nice blue and white crockery at Wetherspoon's meself
  9. The PanLondon scheme https://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/download/file/fid/14695
  10. It will be interesting to see the stats for this coming year. Last year there was a 3.9% increase in applications going from a primary to a secondary across London and 68% of people got their first choice school.
  11. This is quite informative http://altereddimensions.net/2016/croydon-cat-killer-sadistic-serial-killer-murders-mutilates-cats
  12. This happened to me a few years ago but it was not on a weekend..I recognised the school badge and phoned the school because they said the school had sent them- it was all porkies.... Also they should not be doing this they might get abducted
  13. Labour are responsible for the dire state of the 'working classes'. Failure to educate in useful trades (preferring to lower educational standards and get a massive increase in useless university courses)- then, what a coincidence, the skills gap was filled by immigrants...much cheaper option for Labourjust throw the doors open 2 years before France and Germany. Because the middle classes and property developers demand cheap labour they use the much cheaper options e.g. 'electricians' working for ?20 a day then getting the qualified English electrician in to check and issue the certificate.... Anyway all these 'benefits' are erased by the increase in crime and demands on services. There is nothing bigoted about this JoeLeg of the fascist left -just practicalities, the fact that you can't get a doctor's appointment, can't get your kids into a local school, and your rent is sky high...
  14. Leaving the EU will not make any difference to the black economy (i.e. illegals and others working cash in hand) because illegals are not EU citizens. From what I know (as my sister is an estate agent in East London), the east Europeans rent out houses and live 2 or 3 to a room- their families are in eastern Europe. They can afford to undercut the rates of pay of indigenous electricians, plumbers etc because the indigenous have a mortgage, children etc and do a tax return and cannot afford to work on the cheap. They send money home as well as child benefit...so not only are we losing jobs and suffering pressures on front line services, but money is flowing out of the UK.
  15. Yes they need us more than we need them...
  16. I think he became bad by osmosis...
  17. Zero hours contracts have been going for decades- the worst example was Ken Livingstone's ILEA where women with school-aged children were relentlessly exploited in the Adult Education sector...he was a hypocrite in the extreme- I can still hear his mealy-mouthed whiny voice....also supply teaching has always been a zero-hours arrangement....just as well because when they phoned you up at 0730 on a Monday morning and ask if you want to go to a god-forsaken snake-pit in the arse-end of somewhere in London- you can say 'No', sorry I've already got something today.... Also the fact that the EU fine us every year for breaching air-pollution levels is just another example of the ridiculous Kafka-esque set-up. When we have fleets of foreign lorries and all the extra population (at least 800,000 Poles for example) and Slough has to weigh its sewage to prove the population has increased- what kind of mentality is in Brussels- you definitely could not make it up!
  18. Hi James, I have noticed disabled parking bays appearing starting one day last week when the posts and signs were put up in at least 3 locations near me. Are the council installing them at will, or do people have to apply for them?
  19. And they do check. Someone I know got a warning letter
  20. I'm definitely voting to leave....petty bureaucracy, the gravy train, the awful power trip the EU went on over fishing and the abuses by foreign fisherman in British waters over the years, the ridiculous unreasonable attitude of the East European politicians over the terms- just because millions of benefit money and tax credit money is pouring out of the UK into their countries. The whole political machine of the EU is like something from Kafka.....And I truly believe that they need us more than we need them and they are not prepared to back down because they are a bunch of fascist lefty a-holes
  21. Actually it isn't society that worships speed- it is MEN mainly.....
  22. Just because a licence is needed for this, and this or that is or is not permitted, does NOT mean people will not do stuff if they can save money.....
  23. I wouldn't be complacent even if (by some miraculous universal assimilation of intelligence) cars stuck to the 20mph, especially in side roads, because the only near miss I've had as a pedestrian is a cyclist bombing down the road. They are almost silent until they are close to you, and he would NEVER have been able to stop.
  24. I've have never actually lived next door to anyone in London who could communicate in English since 1981!
  25. Yes alice is right. On Monday I saw a sofa, a baby highchair, a large wooden box, a microwave...all dumped in the street and this was during a 10 minute walk. Out of interest- are pensioners exempt from the charge does anyone know?
