  1. I asked a lady there today She confirmed that they have no idea when it will be reopened(if ever??) Cinemas open, concert halls open, pubs and restaurants open, shops open. museums open. But STILL no library. Pathetic.
  2. And TFL have agreed to squander a huge sum on the daft DV "improvements", having just gone cap in hand to the government for yet another huge bail out. Further, I read that TFL have 550 (!!) employees "earning" over ?100,000 pa. If correct, complete madness. West End restaurants and businesses are collapsing wholesale and this punitive congestion charge, particularly at weekends will turn central London into a ghost city. Forget Rhodes.Khan must fall. Hopeless.
  3. Amazingly, a number of shops still have the David Greig mosaic logo at their entrance.
  4. I can understand all this to minimise subsidence but why in Dulwich Park?? Some trees have been felled and hideously pollarded at Queen Mary's Gate, miles away from any buildings. It seems to me that there is always some so called "expert" usually with a financial interest more than ready and willing to maim and destroy mature and flourishing trees on any feeble excuse.
  5. 12 am today in Tesco Express, Croxted Rd. Well stocked apart from bread and detergent. Calm and sensible customers.
  6. I have DVDs which I tried to return on last date ,Friday, but library closed. Cannot renew and computer says ongoing fines of ?1.10 per day each. I shall be up to some ?200 in 3 months time!!
  7. Lidl Brixton today 12pm. Very quiet, hardly any queues. No pasta, rice and not much tinned stuff, apparently awaiting deliveries. Fully stocked otherwise, seemed to be plenty of everything. Only panic~ sold out of "The Sun".
  8. 8.45 am today. P4 to Brixton. 24 mins.wait from DV. Can we really expect any improvement after all these hugely expensive road works??

All those poor soles in the CPZ > zones can expect the same. Perhaps the "poor soles" should migrate to the DP lake where they would feel at home!

    Homeland??

We have a 6 yr old Panasonic Smart TV but the sound track of this great series is almost incomprehensible. Do others find this or are we just unlucky?
  11. Eulogy today in "City AM".
  12. The least we should have is a trial period, but I understand that our Lords and Masters will not countenance this, and insist that the bulldozers take over wholesale. Madness.
  13. Recommendations,please.
  14. These buses used to be reasonably frequent and reliable. Today, 5th Nov. with light traffic about 12.20 pm I had to wait 25 mins at North Dulwich Station for a P4 from Brixton, and then later 21 mins at West Dulwich at 4.40 pm for a P13 towards New Cross. Pathetic. Complaints seem to make no difference. What is going on??
  15. Out of order already. Pathetic.
  16. Cannot get answer from Southwark. can we continue to use the big paper bags or will they not be collected any more??
  17. I had read that this was advisory and not actually enforceable. A friend however has just had a speeding ticket for 25mph in Islington. Surely the whole of London will grind to a halt? Has anyone had a similar penalty around here?
  18. Or the plethora of pointless and hugely expensive road "improvements" which often seem to be rejigged after a year, at even more cost. There seems to be a bottomless pit of our money for these.
  19. We were told by a postie that there used to be a number of collection times throughout the day listed on the letter box. This was stopped and forbidden by Brussels as unfair competition for private collection services!.Madness and very irritating.
  20. We installed an alarm system from Guardian Alarms in Croydon. They maintain it and are always courteous and efficient. Never had any problems worth mentioning. We are linked in to two neighbourly key holders and, in extremis, the police. No idea about competitiveness but I think that are all much of a muchness.
  21. Let me finish this as I started it. I am a mature cautious cyclist. I have come off my bike twice in the past year, once due to a huge hidden pothole and once when a lorry driver (very apologetic) did not see me. Each time I was blameless and luckily received only a few bumps and bruises. Any child perched up with me would probably have been killed. Bicycles are flimsy, vulnerable machines and inherently unstable. Common sense tells us that this dangerous practice should be banned. And don't get me started on the lunatics riding at night with dark clothes and no lights......
  22. Actually I ride my bike every day and wouldn't dream of being so irresponsible as to balance small children around in traffic with the flimsiest of protection. Cyclists get an appalling press anyway for riding like lunatics and these stupid people do not help.
  23. I was passed this morning in Herne Hill by a woman on a bike with one toddler perched on the crossbar and another small child behind her, all this wobbling along in the usual heavy traffic, presumably intent upon saving the planet. I always thought that those silly little carts attached to bikes were pretty vulnerable but this just seemed hideously dangerous. Am I alone in wondering why the ubiquitous Elf'n Safety do not outlaw this practice whilst continually hectoring us in so many minor areas as if we are children?
  24. West Dulwich is only 12 mins to Victoria unless leaves on line.
