OK Thanks. London Bridge I'm not even considering as an option (unless I leave 3hrs early !) So there IS a change required. Every additional leg is an additional exposure to delays/disputes etc. I've become so cynical about London transportation !
-
Need to make this journey tomorrow. I thought there used to be a train link direct (as part of Overground line). If not, what service(s) are people frequently making this journey using please and what changes are required, if any ? Nat Rail Enquiries gives me nothing PR -> Canary Wharf.
-
I'm near CPR too. When I need to get to Kings X (I've worked in Milton Keynes so used the link to get to Euston) I go from DH train stn. Obviously you'd need to look at the latest dispute/strike/overtime ban to try and avoid delays. You'll get timetable from NatRalEnquiries.

Oh yeah. I knew it was SOME sort of trail !
-
perhaps a jet's chemtrail, lit-up by the sun, slowly falling / dissipating in the distance ? I've seen something similar of this nature before.

On the surface it appears rude, but, having tried to sell / give stuff free sometimes, the time required chasing people, seeking clarification over intentions, following up those meant to turn up, etc. etc. can make it an onerous task. I'm now pretty hard faced with it because I just don't have the time to create a new project for myself making sure no ones feelings are hurt. Obviously this is just where disposal of an item gets overly complicated, usually things go fine. Anyway, everyone has their own experience selling. As a rule of thumb whe buying, assume until you get a response you're not in the play for an item.
-
I think everyone expects immediate responses (or a response at all), but that's not necessarily considering what may be going on with the seller. They could be busy, may be having a conplication with the sale with another buyer(s). Example: You're giving something away if 'buyer' will collect. You get 11 responses. You open the first response / PM at 0800 and tell them item is theirs if they want it. By 1230 you've had no reply, do you chase the first person or move on to the 2nd ? You've given the first person 1/2 a day to come back, you're no further forward in offloading the item and have others who may want it. You're not making any money from it, Si how much effort do you want / have time to invest ? Do you reply to the other 10 now ? If so, you're creating a rod for your own back. If so what do you say ? Do you now have to give them all a running commentary on status with item and where they each are on waiting list, every time another potential 'buyer' doesn't respond / backs out / vanishes ? Potential buyers keep failing to turn up, you're doing so much messaging to so many people for an item you're just trying to give away, it's becoming a huge distraction from work / partner / kids / other obligations. Then you start getting messages from potential buyers asking why you're so rude not replying to them. You think why did you fecking bother in the first place.

Founders day at Alleyn's school.

Yeah I can hear it too, it's nice to know community events are going on at weekends. I didn't quite catch what the 'bargain' of three-for-the-price-of-one was. -
food passable, service usually indifferent (and I'm not a fussy customer). Better service in Wong Kei IMO !

Hmmm... I'm not sure if I saw a bloke pissing against a wall I'd make the call that he's minded on interfering with children (that would be a strategy surely destined to fail, and publicly), obviously his having a pee could be better placed / timed though, but the kids could have unintentionally moved their play nearer him without either party realising, as opposed to him just choosing to pee right by some kids. Also, if a woman had been having a pee would people automatically think she may be minded to interfere with any children nearby in same situation, or is that a privilege just for the men ? Such an insinuation is so severe and the consequences of related accusations so significant. One has to wonder why, if such behaviour was even just suspected, the police were not called immediately. If anyone seriously thought there was even a 10% chance of an adult about to interfere with a child, surely they'd inform police then and there. If not (i.e. not going to happen) why would anyone post to the contrary on a public forum ? Perhaps it's the nature of forums, for example the racist card is used on here frequently. If I thought an adult was even thinking of interfering with children the police would be called prompto. Whether a guy is exposing himself as a by-product of peeing is obviously a separate subject, with separate legal consequences.

AM, I have no exact knowledge, but it'd be reasonable to err on the side of caution. It's not like China has flexible rules and an open-minded view around bureaucracy. If your son infringes I wouldn't be surprised if he's deported/banned/fined or even imprisoned temporarily/meanwhile. Those guys don't mess about ! Can't he go hang out in HK (different visa system ?) or Vietnam a while ?
-
It's shite behaviour peeing in the street, certainly bad manners, should try harder to find somewhere less public to go. Are the above posts which mention children insinuating the pisser in each case had a sexual motive toward children ?

No-one's being dishonest RH and you're entitled to your view, so enjoy it. Just because you call something is absurd or you attempt to draw definitions doesn't make your position particularly valid, that's just your way of going about things. Nothing you've said on the matter convinces me otherwise, please do carry on, I'm here to be swayed but I haven't seen the content yet. If people strike just to have control over the DOO matter then they're out of order, but I've covered that already, the unions have messed with thousands of commuters and that is not OK. Good luck.
-
RH:"you accuse the unions of having "a bewildering sense of self-entitlement" for taking industrial action. Do you believe that your entitlement to travel is more important than that, and if so do you believe the unions should be banned from striking? " Answer: I don't make ratings about who's more entitled than who, if you want to do that it's not my obligation to join in, just because you ask a question doesn't make it valid (or an obligation) to me, this is not an interrogation, you need to realise that. I think people who pay for goods or services have the right to them, that includes me, if that's defining self-entitled then there I stand. I've almost lost good work over this state of affairs and I do not appreciate the situation. I think when tactical strikes to 'control' / take power over an organisation's development in cases LIKE THIS (i.e. DOO) then the unions are playing-out a self-entitlement. Whether that's '>' or '<' than what I feel I'm entitled to I don't give a feck, it's not a fecking competition. JL:"Honestly, KK, while I really hope the unions aren't returning to the bad old days in this matter, the only one I can see with a sense of self entitlement around here is you." Answer: Fair enough. I think wanting what I've paid for is reasonable, but I accept there are many views on this.
-
Yeah but you can't invent 'presumptions' (your quote BTW) on behalf of people old chap. There's a BIG difference between putting words in other peoples' mouths to try and convince yourself you are 'the winner' (my quotes, no source I'm afraid) and the other person not wanting 'replies' (your quote). L O L
-
"Presumably you then feel that the unions should be banned from withdrawing from overtime or taking strike action? You accuse the unions of having a bewildering sense of self-entitlement for working to rule to prevent what they see as detrimental changes, so the only conclusion is that your sense of self-entitlement leads you to believe that nobody should ever go on strike if it inconveniences you, doesn't it?" You can presume what you want bro. Your extrapolations, however stupid they may be, are entirely your business - don't feel you have to lay them at my feet for (laughs) 'debate'. Want to me to explain use of quote marks used above for a, what was it now, oh yeah, for a 'source' ? L O L

Is The Great Exhibition getting louder or what?

Good reply AM. We must be neighbours BTW. -
RH you crack me up mate '..I find your sense of self-entitlement somewhat bewildering..'. yeah wanting to get a train journey in reasonable time and frequency, having already paid for the ticket sold to me by the rail company purporting to deliver a service. Yeah how fecking entitled is that ?! Like you never expect anything you pay for to be delivered/provided, right ?! Do me a favour and 'on yer bike' (which seesm to be how you like to get about). Look - I know you just 'have' to 'win' 'arguments' so crack-on lad if you think begging for sources (what off the internet !?) makes you credible. Right, the first quote was from you, the others are showing the use of the word as ironic/sarcastic/whatever, but you know that already innits.

Thameslink phase2 survey- closes 27th July

Train companies posting profits annually though, right ? -
"..with DOO they have to get the drivers to go on strike in order to create the same level of disruption. The unions don't want to lose this influence hence their opposition to DOO. Anything from the unions regarding safety, pay etc. is a smokescreen, the real issue is power and influence." Which sort of whacks the union's Pity Party out of court, doesn't it ?! The 'struggling worker' argument (strangely supported by posters on here) is cover for the divisive and damaging unions' approach to 'doing business'. It's sickening, the bare-faced self-interest and the abuse of the passengers from whom the money comes to pay their wages - the sense of self-entitlement bewildering.
-
If the unions and industrial disputes gave a shit about the travelling public they could allow passengers on trains / through barriers without paying / tapping-in (oyster). That way the organisation gets hit financially a bit and society doesn't take the hit (as in DL's 'manufacturing' example, above). I think unions take the piss, because they can, check out-out how bad the train service has been the last couple of years for evidence of that ! This thread is (chiefly) about train links to central London, right ? So obviously that's what people are going to whine about (like me) and discuss. If the thread was about bin-emptying, littering or parking then people would talk about that obviously, none of it is life-ending stuff so to point that out is sort of pointless because no-one has made the case that it is ! ETA: Basically, the relentless disputes and strikes are just one big Pity Party organised by the unions in a perverted 'victim' game.
