  1. ""You thinking of volunteering?!" Ha - I think I'd be expected to 'pay to play' given my ability !!
  2. Agreed. However, there is an implied requirement for quality and repertoire, right ? If the band is basically weak, loses rhythym or tempo, out of key on occasion, forgets lyrics, etc, would that be OK ? If the band plays American hillbilly covers from 1927-1933 will that be OK too ?
  3. I have photos of this site from the 1990s (I am not going to dig them out and digitise them, that would be a project in itself to trawl through my attic) however the facade has not changed since 1990 when I moved nearby. The only change in appearance has been the endless cycle of graffiti / over painting. Nevertheless, I think 'art deco' is an overly genuine description of what was there until a few weeks ago ! Currently the site looks like this (see photo attached).
  4. Tried 400 Rabbits a couple of weeks ago - very happy with pizza and our servers were switched on to the job. For us it was good food and service and will be returning asap.
  5. ...he paid particular detailed attention to your leg measurements I recall (being told by a friend..). "No thanks mate, I don't fancy checking out your porn in the back room of this dingey shop - but thanks !"
  6. they've always done it, but i don't think any rules are being broken.
  7. I think steveo is saying that it's handy that Corbyn rejects the opportunity to deploy his charisma, in the same way it's handy thet a man with no arms rejects the opportunity to shake hands with someone. Please correct me steveo if I have spoken out of turn.
  8. Like I said: "Most people with a 'troubled' background don't knife others during arguments - not a justification".
  9. Her fault she was on drugs. Her fault she was on alcohol. Her fault she attached victim with a knife (and other weapons). Why are intoxicants persistently used as the basis for leniency, like it was something done 'to' them ?! Most people with a 'troubled' background don't knife others during arguments - not a justification. If you've got a lot of promise and talent, and you've worked hard to get to where you are to forge a great future for yourself, then it's down to you to ensure you protect that future as best you can - not use it as an excuse to justify heinous acts. If you've a lot to lose, then don't squander it - others will learn (and benefit) from your loss. What about precedence - will the next 'person of good character' now use their promising future as a caveat for whatever imprisonable offence they commit, citing this case as why they should be let off ? And finally, it's like a 2-tier viewpoint, where less privileged persons may get heavier sentencing just because they don't (yet) have the options available to the subject of this case. It's total bollox.
  10. Nice guy in there - will have to pop in before the weekend and say cheerio.
  11. ha ha - that's hilarious !
  12. I think it's a good size and if it's busy then great. If the sun hadn't come out or there'd been a shower or two there'd probably have been less people and a larger site would have looked empty as a result. There was always space to sit near the stage where music was playing. GG is a nice, concise, site IMO. 1. Only one beer outlet (?) = queues too long and service too slow (possibly because choice to wide ?), waited in queue a few times briefly but with kids you can't blow 20 mins waiting on (what would have been) a couple of small beers. 2. Donkeys = the fair was only on for 5hrs but at 1300 my kids were told there were no donkey rides until 1400 due to a 'break'. That sounds bollox. After an hour when my kids returned, one was told she's 'too tall' but hadn't been told when she initially asked for a ride. 3. Jamaican food stall had no prices up. For me, that's a basic reqt as i don't want to queue 5mins to ask how much food is. It's not a question of being able to afford it, more about honesty up front about what the customers' half of the transaction will be. Other food stalls I looked at appeared to have prices up, I think that should be a given at this fair. 4. "the high food prices" - probably reflects the fees 5. Was a great event as usual and decent variety of food/stalls/activities for kids - well done to organisers.
  13. Yeah that's the point of vaping Foxy come to think of it, an alternative way to deliver the drug into one's system.
  14. "The dog walker would be paid an hourly fee, say ?10, while the owner raked in ?70/?80 if eight dogs were being supposedly walked." *yawns*
  15. Ah contraire - it's an accurate example of the type of wild claim above. Sometimes such an example is needed to draw attention to the real agenda and the disingenuous way it's being set-up. So exaggerating dog numbers is grown-up. But exaggerating dog poo amounts is childish. Right, I think I get it now !
  16. 7 dogs being walked. 8 dogs being walked. Why do people have to use absolute extremes and exaggerations to try to make a point - it betrays the true situation as not being as dire as made out and being in need of over-cooking to achieve the agenda intended by the poster. Let's see the evidence of that wild claim ! 7/8 dogs my arse. BTW - I saw a dog pooing a 3-tonne poo on a grave you know, I did, I did, honest. It was the size of a skip lorry, bloody dog walkers ! (get it ?)
  17. what I mean is if the cops see the moped with covered plates I expect they'd be interested to ask the riders why they're doing it. I'm not sure they run the risk of being identified by having covered-up plates - but we both know that already.
  18. I didn't think to look at number plates of moped being taped over, I didn't know they do that. Surely they run a risk riding around with taped plates. Will check next time anyway.
  19. FONC Should fence off the 'sacred' areas from the area where dogs are allowed to run about off lead. Dogs can't read signs and it's unrealistic to expect every dog to obey every command from its owner, that's just not realistic (however desirable it may be). 'Pooing in graves' is the worst possible instance which is being focussed on, dogs poo everywhere - and usually at the start of their walk when they're with the owners from what I've seen. I think the 'danger to children' angle is also being over-egged, the webpage reads like EDF poster (was it 'DadOnAbike' ?) who recently started a thread with the same kind of thrust. Be interesting to see what the cemetery becomes if such proposals materialise.
  20. "You can pay in cheques at the Post Office but they take twice as long to clear - we noted that one of ours took 8 days." Hopefully that will improve, even for the Post Office, when the Future Clearing Model is implemented (not sure of target date but think it's fairly soon).
  21. miss T that's not a reasonable assumption at all, it's a lazy assumption. Anyway, if you're going to remind someone about picking up their dog's poo, who cares if they say eff off - the point would be telling them wouldn't it ?
  22. I think they were there today going by your description, but working as two individuals - but near each other.
  23. Absolutely no excuse. I picked-up a massive pile near my front gate the other morning, it was so big that the dog must have had size and surely couldn't have gone unnoticed by the owner who (you have to presume) was walking it on lead !
