  1. "one would assume this is more of an opportunist mugging than the new norm for Whateley road." There's no new norm, it's same old same old actually. Given there's a thread on this forum already about infrequency of P13s, Whateley Rd is hardly the super-highway for buses and passing traffic, especially at night ! Foxy may have over-egged it a bit, but he does have a point actually IMO. In the last 17yrs I've had three seperate occasions where there's been an attempted mugging or start of same on Whateley Rd. This could be because I use it frequently daily, so am more likely to be exposed to the occurence, but it is definitely a street where unfortunately these events CONTINUE to happen. If I remember correctly, Mr. Ben (previous EDF member) was mugged on junction of Fellbrigg and Whateley Rds, he got quite injured if memory serves. Let's not down play that particular location as being safe or even as safe as many other streets, because it ain't.
  2. Fly paper Works every time
  3. If it's pink with red wheels it could be the one lying in goose green playground at 0630 this morning.
  4. dbboy, the consequences of your proposition would seem to be that Assad gasses and tortured whoever he wants - because we're all scared of creating a fuss (that could lead to escalation in conflict). Well we have to draw the line somewhere don't we ?!
  5. Jules-and-Boo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > KK - do you need it spelling out? LaddyMuck - I've only just worked it out - thanks to your comment!! big grin thumbs up I haven't, but can't be arsed to put any effort in. I've asked, that'll do me.
  6. "Surely post-Brexit there will be less competition for jobs (assuming free movement is stopped)". This one statement does stand out. Competition ? Like non-foreigners even tried for these jobs in the first place.
  7. Dictatorships (no apostrophe necessary, see)
  8. I'm quite impressed with the facility at OKR, good bunch of guys running it - you need proof of ID as it's a Southwark residents' service. If they didn't check, they could be receiving trade and other areas' junk.
  9. What's happening next Tuesday ?
  10. I would call the police, eventually the police will talk to the school, which should get their attention. An adult carrying perhaps could receive a custodial sentence, more likely if a knife was held against someone as a threat. Personally I'd identify the parents and have a word with them too about why their child thinks it's OK to be using a knife to intimidate his peers in school. Needs to be nipped in the bud sharpish.
  11. On a separate note, Alex Saucedo is steadily getting his experience wth further fights - lastly in March. I mentioned him a couple of years ago and thought he'd have made an impact by now, but at some point I hope he shines through and gets some big fights.
  12. I'm not sure if Kessler could still do 168. He'd automatically be 2nd tier level I expect if he did come back, but as mentioned the guys operating at top level in their prime are going to hurt him - he wasn't outstanding enough to now come back after 4yrs and make a big impact.
  13. There's talk of Froch and Kessler.
  14. Oh yeah - I think it's Huck this weekend !
  15. So it's Kell Brook v Errol Spence on Saturday. I think this is a corker. anyone watching it / thoughts ?
  16. I think I'll come along to this, least we can do is pack the place out and show our concern. Thanks for posting Foxy.
  17. I working in banking and have lost 2 jobs since the referendum, ostensibly because of the Leave vote. It's happening and the effects will I guess hit the rest of the country after some time.
  18. "Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Now that sounds like a pub. Can they be toasted? Jeremy: No. Toasted sandwiches are for poncey metrosexual lightweights. Any such enquiries will result in a swift punch in the face." Couldn't have said it better myself Jeremy. Oh - you were being sarcastic..
  19. Uncle Rob is king of bonfires - he does a special on Kanye West CDs.
  20. A mobile recycling unit for THREE HOURS once every couple of weeks, at a time when most people are working (yes, majority of population don't work evenings !). Is flytipping next to a recycling centre better than down dark alleys, behind garages and in car parks and playgrounds ? I think so. The flytipping won't stop. What proportion of waste collected at Sainsburys when the permanent recycling centre existed was flytipped ?
  21. Cheers LL - some of that sounds like it's sorted now which is great. The 19mins for peak hour trains is understandable due to the cramming of passengers in which does add time regardless of timetable(8 carriages EVERY morning would help). Will check-out the CX link this weekend ! Darn it, will need another conspiracy theory now you've burst this one.
  22. The Castle does a consistently plain and passable grated cheese sarnie - and at the price point where there's no upset over the occasional crusty corner.
  23. It is a bit pathetic. It's not like they need to CREATE infrastructure to enable us to resume getting into London within a reasonable timeframe. 27yrs ago it took 12 mins from ED to LB and 17-20 mins to Charing X (including a change at LB). I can take the 19 mins to LB which it is now, but no Charing X link and now Victoria link under threat ? The changes must have been on a grand plan for some time but those affected appear to be finding out way after the decision has been made. I'm not convinced by consultations, I think often they're just obligatory steps which must be demonstrated as having taken place. What I don't under stand is, years ago the commuter hour trains were 10% as full as they are these days, so why reduce that service when demand has clearly risen ? I don't think there's any point trying to ask sensible questions about all this, there is a common sense to it somewhere but it's not one we're privvy to and it's not one where ED's regular and speedy and consistent commute is the objective. And yes, I know it is technically possible to cycle.
  24. An example might be where someone carries grudges, resentment, revenge fantasies or jealousy over something / someone that happened previously. Whether it be personal or collective. You can do yourself damage hanging-on to those sentiments, I think it's a bit like self-harming but without realising. Having said that, there are some wrongs that need righting and just trying to carry on the best you can while walking away doesn't obtain the righting.
