I think that's a fair assessment dave, I'd only temper it with the comment that the council are trying to avoid trades abusing the service - so they've had to cast the net wide to catch them out (which has, as always unfortunately, affected regular council tax payers).

just got back after doing a car load. The nice guys there didn't have a clue between them on how to get around this one. However, reading above, there appears to be provision on the form for specifying 'rented van' ? Anyways, if form does not facilitate I would personally write down the reg no of one of the hire vans (copy form their website, go and look for a similar van on their premises?) and then on the day jst say the hir co. changed the van you thopught you were getting. One thing the guys did say is as long as the driver has a permit they generally don't kick up a fuss.

I wouldn't do the 'just forget' thing, because that's stringing someone along and would be unfair and wasting the other student's time and expectations. Just make-up your mind what you're prepared to do and tell whoever that's your decision / as far as you'll go, you can explain why if challenged but it should be obvious from the way you tell tem anyway. IMO no point risking your own results, also only provide time if you can really afford to - I find adult education is such a squeeze already ! Having said that - I did computing and maths and used to sell my assignments to the tail-end Charlies who were always late, trick was to have a couple of solutions and not sell the one you submit.

keano - no i don't think so, nice try. there's a BIG difference between someone trying to paint abuse as 'fun' or something they should be pitied for versus calling someone out on their behaviour. there's a lot worse than irony going down on this thread.

If the couple who were insulted on the street had been American I bet no-one would have shouted 'terrorist' at them, even after Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. This is with America being the country the majority of nations in the world fear most. It was because of where they appeared to originate from, which while being hate-driven, is race-based.

I expect EU countries and EU visitors won't want our eggs anyway, they can't be assed to try and figure out what the UK/English/Scottish definition of 'free range' is at any point in time (it may keep changing, which will put-off potential buyers who want consistency/certainty/predictability). It'll be easier to just buy from another EU country, where the standards are known and understood. I'm sure same will apply for many other farming / other sector products. If anyone thinks the world's gonna be really interested enough to digest a whole bunch of distinct definitions, specific to 'independent' UK, they're dreaming. UK is on the arse-end of Europe and its expectations of special treatment once it leaves EU are facile and ego-driven.

i'm going to the dover st. depot tomorrow, i will ask the guys there how it would work with a hired van as per the scenario you outlined. I'll post on here their advice.

Haven't been for several years so my previous experience will be past it's sell by date and wondering if anyone's any up-to-date tips.
