Grove tavern to reopen. Fact or fiction.

wow - recipe for disaster with a care home next to a huge and busy road junction that has absolutely no provision for pedestrians. That will have to change. -
I just argued the case politely (I've had a lot of hassle the last few months and have been saved by buying extra data GBs on my mobile) with each person I spoke to. Just had an email from Virgin confirming the new 'package' and they HAVE charged me the ?14.99 activation fee which they'd told me they would make sure is NOT applied (as part of compensation). So I guess I'll be back on the phone to them tomorrow. Shame because the last guy I spoke with sounded like he actually knew something, hopefully just an innocent mistake on his part.

spent 9 mins on phone to them this eve being passed from pillar to post. I was eventually offered ?3 back-compensation for the last 2 weeks which have been predominantly a total nightmare. Eventually I spoke to someone who paid ?72 compensation immediately. I also cancelled phone and TV. I now have a rolling one-month for broadband only at 70Mbs, with no tie-in (due to the 'high utilisation' issue in SE22 area). Let's see how that goes.

If we let the same people control our air supplies we'll suffocate before they sort their shit out. -
Trains cancellations - latest
KidKruger replied to DovertheRoad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Whatever it takes to get trains with passengers actually travelling on them floats my boat. How many millions have been spent on infrastructure and rolling stock, consultants and advisors, ministers and politicians, railway staff and management ? And passengers cannot get to work on an increasingly regular basis. The one single thing the system exists for, the only reason these people are even involved, and we cannot get to feckin work because the people who chose to be involved are intentionally blocking the service. -
What's Happening on Crawthew Grove Project?
KidKruger replied to i*Rate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd expect Southwark Council would be receptive to queries about the status of the devt, especially from immediate neighbours. Unless it's a new MI6 base or something, there shouldn't be secrecy around a project which has overrun and been of major concern to neighbours for so long. -
the only way virgin pull this off is by us all being separate, distinct, customers, each having to raise our own, individual concerns with them. If there was a common forum, ie. by postcode, they'd be shot to bits in seconds and wpould have to concede there's a calculated rip-off in this area. Possibly others too, but how would we know.

...that reminds me I have a suit which has been worn quite a bit lately, I need to drop it off with my Valet Team, next to the post office on LL. On the way home I may stop off at AJ farmers to see my Plastic Household Goods Team and discuss the dilemma I currently face with respect to washing up bowl v kitchen sink topology - the inefficiencies of 'wasted corners' using a round or oval bowl in a square sink (albeit, admittedly, with slightly rounded corners) confounds my need to waste no usable washing-up space. After that I'll pop in to see my Corner Shop Team for a can of Stella (to be shared with missus, or, my Relationship Team, at the weekend).

Well said Seabag. I'm doing a sort of Seabag-lite the last 6 months or so and intend it to stay that way because it's working for me - not a total ban on alcohol but only occasionally when the time is right, and even then it's small amounts. After 30yrs of just doing what everyone does, it's frankly become boring. I have claimed so much more of my time back and am getting so much more done - just one can of beer in the evening often prevents me doing anything further. I'm also doing something similar with meat (weekend only). You can make these choices for yourself, to support what you want to do. One 'down side' is some can people take it so 'personally' when others they're with don't want to drink alcohol, like it's a threat or there's something being reflected back on them (dunno why there's not same reaction from meat-eaters to veggies, maybe alcohol has more shame attached to it?). But take encouragement from the standard line, "what's wrong ?", when someone's getting the round in, which tells you all you need to know about exactly what's wrong. up sides I'd add: - getting more done (at work, at home, personal interests) -> greater feeling of achievement/progress -> lesser feeling of stress over things not done -> happier in myself and able to move onto next things I want to do/progress. - less clouded thinking - able to concentrate longer and more consistently - more accurate judgements - better sleep - more energy

I had a thread on this a few years ago. Basically your fecked. Gowlett does Becks Blue if I remember (or a substitute). You'd need to phone / visit each pub to check whether there's an alcohol-free option. As for drinking soft drinks, literally ounces of sugar, that's an unsavoury (pun intended) option.

Pooping dog on camera - do you know it or owner?
KidKruger replied to woodstock's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No excuse for letting a dog shit on the pavement (or street). Once you've walked it into your house and up your stairs and tried to clean the stinking mess you may be less inclined to think it's 'no big deal'. That holds only if no-one treads in it. Zebedee's input (above) is worth looking at too. -
Sainsburys etc no staff to bag up at checkout V poor effort imho

"I feel pretty disconnected from Rye lane, there's little I do/would use there. .... Horses for courses I suppose." ..and that's the way to look at it, there's no wrong/right. I'm on Rye Lane a lot as it serves 90% of my needs, mainly the small shops too (as opposed to Asda, Iceland). Some people I know never go there yet somehow we all manage to feed ourselves and keep house OK. -

Rahrah "It's weird that you stripped my comment of context and then jumped to some imagined scenario of me posing outside the butchers (as though avoiding walking around a supermarket with young kids is some sort of self aggrandising pretension." You've taken offence at something NOT intended for you. You've a right to do that of course, but in this instance it's definitely misplaced. If anything, only the first couple of words were a reply to you and after that I was on my own rant about those on here always complaining about the cheese/butchers/etc. I can digress sometimes ! -

KidKruger replied to pop9770's topic in The Lounge
to be fair rahrah I don't actually go to supermarkets anymore, especially when buying cheese. Why breeze arund in 2mins when you can prevaricate and pose or HOURS outside a trendy cheese shop, fish shop, butcher, flower shop, bakery ? (Jeez, starting to sound like a modern day high street there , eh ?). You can tell times have moved on when finally, after ED High St has rebuilt itself after being devastated by Sainsbury in the early 90s, people complain about the what is basically the return of a normal run of shops again at long last. Some people are now conditioned into believing supermarkets trump local shops.
