  1. parking at PR should not be reduced IMO. what's with the obligation to ride a fecking bike ? while car drivers are busy texting while they drive and cut each other up and not giving two fecks about whether you're on a bike or not. do me a favour with the evangelic bike-ridey crap.
  2. Ungrateful or what ! I hope you ditched her and got a mate over quick so you didn't waste the table.
  3. The fool on the Denmark hill train to Victoria who replied, "why don't you get up earlier ?" when people trying to board the half-full train asked those already on board "could you move down the train please".
  4. Spent almost entire of last winter (bar 2x days) just using burner in lounge for heating, the idea being if you want to be warm go to lounge. I have a large house so heating every day all winter can seem extravagant. Costs of using a burner depend really on your use and whether you buy your fuel in bulk (which makes a huge difference to overall running costs).
  5. "The lady who runs the upland road market stall which sells the sausage rolls and salad strikes me as joyful." Henry - do you mean the pie van ?
  6. The costs to set up that show are enormous. Westminster Council (I think it's them) screws the organisers to the floor with costs, charges for 'services' and policing are enormous (no argument that services should be paid for, but they are also set with a view to the council making a profit - the idea being the customer will foot the bill anyway).
  7. Probably rational, actually. Why oh why oh why have buses now got 60% of the luggage rack taken up by a free newspaper rack ? (obviously it's for money, but...) what's next ? vending machines instead in place of some of the seats ?
  8. "I bet they don't do anything charitable with it." OOI: What is your bet based on ? I'd be interested in your reasoning. Is it the "they charge loads, so must be rich, so must be greedy and self-centered" school of 'thought' ?
  9. Available mid-week. Not in mint condition but works perfectly. Just need to get my data onto replacement phone. Please offer me by PM and I'll be in touch / announce on here when sold. If you want the phone (subject to seeing it of course) make the offer count. I'll look at offers mid-week and settle asap with whoever buys it. Cheers. ps - will add a photo shortly ETA: specify it's a 5S model, not a 5.
  10. So in the early hours of tomorrow Sergey Kovalev fights Andre Ward at LHW. Regardles of belts, it's a potentially great fight, for several reasons. The skillsets of both are impeccable. The skillsets of both have major differences. Both have proved their abilities several times over. Kovalev said some months ago that he'd like to fight Ward to see if he could beat him and to grade himself against a great boxer. That's a very humble way of looking at it, but I think it also shows the SK knows Ward is hard to beat, regardless of how hard you can punch. Ward can take away a boxer's punch, after that what has the opponent got left ? I want Kovalev to win, but Ward has a way of stealing rounds and messing your play. So brain says Ward wins. Who do you think wins ?
  11. Post Office don't allow dogs. Cashier who told me waited 20mins until I was at front of queue to tell me she wouldn't serve me. Luckily a customer held the rabid, thrashing hound for me outside until my 2min transaction was over.
  12. Turns out I'm on same train this morning. Oh fun times.
  13. I had this with an agent a few years ago. He kept bumping the price up when I made an offer, telling me that 'another buyer' had matched me. He didn't actually say I had to offer more, but the inference was there - if I wanted the property. I went into the branch and asked for evidence of the other offers before I raised my own offer yet again (I knew this would be fruitless, but anyway). They obviously said that for reason X and Y they can't divulge details. I withdrew my offers, all of them. Next day agent (separate individual) called me to say the other (two) buyers had 'withdrawn' and could we settle on the original price. I tried to reduce the offer even further, which I would have persisted with but I wanted the place, so settled on my original (full asking price) offer. This showed me that they're cheating lying twats. So yes contact the vendor politely if you want to. There are little ethics from agents' side in my experience so why play by rules that don't exist ?!
  14. Obnoxious City twat on train to Leicester this morning sat opposite me on table seats, noisily tap-tap-tapping on his super-sized tablet phone (turn the key-taps sound off Extra Loud setting you knob), munching on something crunchy, while listening to music and variously banging away on his wanky lap top. The bloke is winding me up. He goes to the loo without even wondering if I'm interested in 'watching' his 'stuff'. Fair game. His phone rings (yes he left the big bastad on the table). I answer. Caller: "Can I speak to Tristran ?" (That seals it for me) Me: "I'm afraid he's left the organisation". Caller: "But.." Me: "I'm sorry it's against policy to discuss leavers". Hung up. 2 mins later bloke comes back, checks his phone, no missed calls. Sudden Joy. Next stop we luckily didn't go to same location. ETA: Train was busy, people around saw what I did. No one said a word ! Only a London train could that happen (or perhaps he'd pissed them off too).
  15. Ulverscroft cannot be blocked at one end - that would be madness and unsafe.
  16. Actually it's more a LOndon thing than provincial.
  17. FFS. There is a thing in the UK. We call it 'humour'. It's about funny tongue-in-cheek comments 'n' stuff. Hang in there. Now, back to praising the bistro (and witty comments related to it).

    ..

What's with cleaning being seen as 'unskilled' ?! The better you are at it, the faster you go, so you cover more surfaces / rooms. I was a cleaner for 2yrs in Central London and took pride in my work, I was commended on the results I got, I was skilled (not as good as many though) at what I did - loos, hoovering, mirrors (with ammonia) and washing woodwork. Also I did a year as a dishwasher, all by hand, including large pots. For such ability to be dismissed is preposterous. If someone had called me unskilled at the time they'd have been laid out right there. What utter claptrap ! The OP has to be a wind-up, people who think like that don't really exist. Don't fall for it.
  19. How long it takes to sort payment in some restaurants, from saying you want to pay to the point where you can walk. It's not a Nice To Have, it's a fecking Must Have. I've had the food, so let me go, the transaction is over dude.
  20. "Should we be concerned who wins the US Election ?" Only if you give a shit about the most powerful Western country with the most seriously perverted and hypocritical foreign policy, a massive nuclear arsenal, a population significantly exposed as being xenophobic, bigoted (race, LGBT, faith), religious zealots, being represented throughout the world by a psychopath. If you weren't concerned, you may also not be bothered by an asteroid about to hit the Earth, Armageddon, rising sea levels, other catastrophic events that would destroy life as we know it, or widespread disease and famine.
  21. You can also transfer everything via the cloud when changing or upgrading iPhones. I'm thick technically but managed to do this a couple of years ago.
  22. What about the Lebanese place Hanush (I think) up by the Plough ?
  23. Xoco - I think I'd also mentioned some weeks ago how the curry I had there was as fit as the equivalent in any LL curry house. I genuinely hope Xoco gets accepted (perhaps as one of the quirkier venues in the 'hood) by locals. Not sure if 're-branding' would do more harm than good though, at this stage. I must come for curry if possible in Dec, as I'd suggest should Jah, ????, RD and the other contributors above.
  24. Otta I was basically saying what's with the gender focus, perhaps not clearly enough. I was at a womens' band night a couple of weeks ago (organised by a womens' charity) and when one of the bands started playing, the organiser pushed to the front of the crowd where two men were dancing (wearing the t-shirts of the all-girl band), shouting "women to the front, women to the front". She basically got the men thrown out by security and it was all because in her view men were 'dominating'. So I'm probably overly sensitive to distinctions being made right now, as the whole thing got my back up cos it was completely destructive and unnecessary. ETA: Sorry for the manologue.
