I'll be heading up to the MoL this week to inform of finding this, as always when I find something interesting, but meanwhile has anyone got an inkling what it is ?! So far it appears: - made of pewter or silver (it's tarnished from years of mud). - 1 inch deep bowl which measures almost 3 inches across. - ornate (what looks like) handle, the embossed pattern of dots is not perfectly symmetrical, so perhaps hand made/cottage industry/cheap mass produced low quality moulding. - rear of 'handle' has initial E and W. Regarding this (what I suspect is maker's / owner's mark) it seems old-fashioned because the 'W' is portrayed in the style of two overlapping letter 'V' symbols and the 'E' and 'W' are separated by four dots in a diamond configuration as a spacer (which I've seen in old texts and some church manuscripts). See pics - any advice welcome ! (no you don't need a mudlarker's licence to just browse legal foreshore without digging!).

The bloke serving in one of the LL cafes who, when totalling the bill and telling me how much it comes to, just says "ELEVEN" (or whatever the amount is). Am I already old-fashioned in still expecting (and thinking polite) "that's eleven pounds please" (or words to that effect) ?

All the questions I asked were to clarify what was being said. Loads of terms are used on this forum such as racist, sexist, mysoginist, whatever, and poisoning is a serious situation which anyone with any sense would want to be clear about the specifics rather than getting carried away when you don't think you've actually heard it through. It's nasty the dog has died.

Was it food the dog ate ? Or could it have been fungi under the dead tree ? It's a heavy claim, so what's convinced you a dog was poisoned ?

Moving a soil pipe to another room - anyone had this done?
KidKruger replied to Sue's topic in The Lounge
My corner soil pipe is slanted downwards at the receiving end, heading towards the soil stack. Unless you're knocking-out half-brick sized man eggs and wiping your botty with cardboard I'm sure this arrangement is fine. -

I have run a soil pipe round the corner, I couldn't see point of having it go round the corner underground but not above ground. Two years later no problems. -
Basically mate it's like this, you're coming across a bit obsessed with the getting a girlfriend thing and if you really are it'll do you no favours if you do meet someone because you're hanging a lot on it and that's heavy on Day1 for even the most hard-core. So go out, and do whatever you do, the things that get you going and, unless you're into all-male train spotting or something, you'll meet someone / many people and everything will just check out. That's basically how it's going to go down.

nowhere NOWHERE can prepare a well-done bacon sandwich. At home or nowt. No matter how many times I request or explain what I want a well-done bacon sandwich is not attainable. They say they understand, but they don't. Bastards.

Sue if you want me to pop round for 10 mins I can probably answer your questions, I've relocated a few bathrooms previously so not rocket science to me - you could call it a free quote, without the quote. If you like that idea text me sometime. -
you can stick a 1/2 lb of fresh chillis in a food processor for s few secs then bag 'em and stick in freezer. Then you just have to spoon them out when frozen - no hand/eye contact.

Cured yet DTR ? Did the mannequins help ? -
DF: "The younger E.D. folk are a fickle lot.." I don't know about that. As a younger guy out and about every night, I don't remember signing contracts to only eat at or frequent favourite / specific bars and restaurants to prove my loyalty. Surely, especially when you're younger, checking-out the latest place to open is an exciting part of being out and about ? Perhaps 'fickle' is not the word you were looking for.

I get the convenience of stuff being sliced already and understand that prep can be a hassle. Maybe it's what I cook (mainly curries, Indian subcontinent fare) which makes it fairly quick but I never need to spend more than 15mins total in prep, even when making 4x curries at same time like I did last Friday. It's IMO time well spent. It can be relaxing to block other stuff out and concentrate on your food (incl. prep) for a short while - heaven knows there's enough other shite distracting us all the time. To be able to do something as straightforward and useful as slice some veg and grind a few hard spices down is a welcome intermission. Like I say, I get the convenience argument, but I feel robbed if I don't have time for fundamentals - perhaps I enjoy cooking too much so it's not such a bind. You can also help your prep by doing stuff in front when you have spare time, such as shredding bulk amounts of ginger / garlic etc. to freeze, blending tomatoes/ginger/chillis (or whatever combo you'll need) for curry purees. Whatever you cook there may be ways to lighten the prep way in advance. This may sound terribly organised, but I'm actually very dissorganised which is why I do the above. Horses for courses tho innits.

Also went to Xoco last night. Yes it's unusual having a menu split by burgers / curries / kebabs. Missus had a burger and I had a Jalfrezi - not something you can normally do, but suited us as we couldn't settle on where to eat. Jalfrezi was as good as Curry houses on the Lane, in fact a bit better IMO as it was drier. Good level of heat too. Missus' burger was OK apparently. Very friendly, plenty of space. I get the impression they want to so something different, if I had to classify it I'd say it's a curry house with other options for those not wanting curry. Would go again.

What's this - Just A Second ?

Also, sometimes a party can be unplanned, so informing neighbours at 0100 that your friends are gonna be seeing in the morning with you may not go down well !

FYI. 'blow-ins' gets auto-converted to "@#$%&"
-
Aaah, that'll be that 'money' these blow-ins use, they're too lazy to toil in the fields and lug the fruit of their labours to market to trade for what they need. Instead the slack bastards do something they call 'work', for which they get this new-fandangled 'money' which they use to trade in those shop things for the stuff they think they need, like ice. Wish we could go back to the good old days.

I hate the 3-point turners anyway, always on a busy road and always when they could just go round the block without making everyone else pay !

Shops on lordship lane how they have changed
KidKruger replied to teddyboy23's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Shout-out for the jeans shop on the corner of Whately / Cyrena (now a house) and would, with no prompting from customers, ask if you want to look at the porn mags out back - while he 'measured my upper legs' for best jean size/fit. Didn't become a regular there. -
New to London ?!
-
I doubt that SMBS is cheaper than any shop in South London !
