  1. Phlox - are you saying cats should be walked on a lead, in the park, just like dogs because "all pets are equal" ? Fool.
  2. Ideally based on recent experience. Thanks in advance, etc.
  3. JL: "The often repeated fatuous remarks you get under some people's Facebook photos - "Looking Good" or "Looks like you're having fun."" Haha, A few days ago I did you one of the remark examples cited above !!
  4. Is this a shoplifting thread ? Just wanna make sure I mention the right kind of thieving.
  5. I've got a guitar case with me, Brad Pitt looks. Say hi.
  6. see you on the 1851 then.
  7. It's the twilight zone of train experiences...

  9. what's happening now down their guys - no trains / cancelled / delays ?
  10. the pics of Golovkin next to Brook as part of the press tour show that Golovkin is a bigger built man. His head is larger, all the dimensions are bigger. I know he's a natural MW, but when you see them together it's not just 'weight'. The skeleton of GGG is bigger, he's got a bigger frame to hang off. Prediction time: I think Brook will dazzle and I think he'll connect on GGG, several times, but he'll get caught in the end. GGG has a decent chin (watch how the Geale fight ended) and unless it's a perfectly clean power shot from Brook I can's see GGG getting to hurt. It's possible that Brook wears GGG down with his accurate punching, but it feels like that'll happen but the other way round.
  11. Kovalev v Ward is an interesting fight. Definite two top LWHs, both an incredible skillset. My predictions are usually way out, nevertheless when I think about this contest I imagine Ward just being too clever for Kovalev and scraping a points win (I assume the fight will be in Oakland CA, as ever with Ward). Kov won't have fought as unorthodox a boxer as Ward and I think he'll get frustrated and outpointed. Any other predictions for this fight ?
  12. unless anyone knows definitively that there was an intention to walk a kazillion dogs, then why not shut up with the did-they / didn't they bollox, because you just don't know. You don't know whether several dogs were about to be dropped off. you don't know whether the dog in house was being dropped-off or not. you don't know squat, which is why the tiresome conjecture above is pointless and distracts from the issue at hand which is missing dogs. So concentrate on the missing dogs or start a 'foundless uninformed speculation on dog walker behaviour' thread.
  13. The Govt is to blame for this. They privatised railways, they offer the franchises, so they are responsible to ensure the service is delivered. They have failed to ensure this. While Southern execs and 'consultants' line their pockets, the passenger gets a reduced service and the Govt says it's out of their hands, because some company is 'responsible' for providing the service. Pure negligence of successive, spineless, Govts.
  14. Was good, Santa Cruz us no muppet. Both had potential to end the fight at any time, right up to the last bell.
  15. Last week they did that - driver said it was a scheduled stop of 12 mins. Bollox.
  16. Carl Frampton won the WBA Featherweight belt on Saturday from an unbeaten Leo Santa Cruz. He gave a very good account of himself, against a very good boxer. Possibly Selby next for a unification in the UK. Another belt for UK !
  17. the 1730 from LB yesterday stopped at South Berm for about 12 mins, the driver seemed to be saying it's scheduled.
  18. Sue mine is just open, no partition or door, and absolutely packed with crap and stuff.
  19. Burbage: "Although it's not clear from your prose, I'd hazard a guess as this being a household where Pa traditionally gets fed first" ha ha this is how it was in my house for Sunday lunch every week. My Dad (Yorkshire man) got a large plate of Yorkshire pud, which he finished while we sat-up and talked quietly. THEN lunch was served to us all - almost as if my Dad had had a starter. 'Proper' / loud conversation and banter could then also commence.
  20. Yeah penguin I meant Canada Water I think. I used to use it (and gloat about how roomy it was on here). Feck it, that was a decent (and well-subscribed) service.
  21. slight distraction - but has the Denmark Hill/Peckham Rye train to Highbury really stopped running straight-through ? I checked a week or so ago and it looks like now the only way to make the Overground train journey is by changing at Canary Wharf.
  22. 30 secs won't hurt anyone obviously, neither will 64 seconds, but like I say if the food's getting colder to point where it's not how you like it or it's actually going cold then you're a mug (IMO). The longer you wait the more impractical and invalid the rule of is proven. Surely 30 seconds, or even 60 seconds is not what we're talking here anyway - why would anyone even think such a short time period even qualifies as having to 'wait' (and therefore requires a decision on manners anyway) ?
  23. yeh I know it was a typo - I should have added an exclamation or smiley when I made my point. the other stuff - waiting for people to be served before one eats is a personal choice, if one chooses to wait or feels obliged to wait and one's food goes cold or gets colder than one likes, then one is achieving nothing.
  24. Louisa, bottom line for me would be if I've got guests where I even need to care about stuff like this then I've got the wrong visitors (and I know to prevent their returning - for food at least). On a practical note, what's the 'advantage' to remaining (as yet, un-served) guests if someone who gets their food before them does NOT start eating ? If the only 'advantage' is the satisfaction of watching someone wait until other plates arrive, that's unnecessary and total bollox IMO. It's just inventing constructs with no practical purpose. I had guests on Saturday, a couple. I did for a split-second think who should I serve first from the pot and I chose to serve the guests first rather than 'ladies first', but whatever I did my guests wouldn't give two shits anyway nor would my missus (though I was disappointed I even considered the question). It was Thai pork curry, Som Tam spicy salad, Tod Man Pla fishcakes, sticky rice and cucumber salad with chillies BTW. If you're not on their list for inheritance, then why not have some fun and commit 'manners' outrage after outrage, in the hope of generating some interesting anecdotes - to share with those other guests who you can relax better with at a later time. numbers "2. informal or not its bloody rude to eat with your mouth full ". Personally I'd always encourage my guests (or anyone, in fact) to eat with their mouth full. Not doing so will surely cause a build-up of rotting food in the mouth and mean you'll never get the chance to speak again. It could also affect your breathing and cause you to choke, or, at worst, die.
  25. people are often away for a couple of days with work/hols, work long hours etc. so it's never going to be perfect on any given street.
