  1. Basically the more oil you can clean-up / remove before turning the toaster on, the less chance of fire or excessive smoke.
  2. Unplug toaster, wipe inside as best you can with paper towels (perhaps push them in and wipe with a wooden spoon). Then use a damp cloth and let it dry. Then plug it in outside on an extension cable and see what happens - you may get some smoke as residue of oil heats-up.
  3. uncle - which bit of this is forgetful ?
  4. Managed and advised by his family, that new breed of boxing manager/promoter with zero fecking former experience.
  5. I'm thinking of the owner of what was Eastern Eye.
  6. is it the same owner - the Saddam Hussein look-a-like ?
  7. On another note Canelo has said he's moving up to MW after the Liam Smith (LMW) fight. If he does, I would expect he fights a MW for his belt (or a good MW such as David Limeux) then fights GGG. He's getting so much bad press for not fighting GGG he's almost obliged to now.
  8. "I consider boxing to be a sport, and UFC/MMA as a fight under controlled conditions." It's interesting isn't it ? I guess for me they're all different styles with rules appropriate to each style. I still recommend anyone to see the Heather Hardy v Shelly Vincent contest, propa bangin'. Two women who don't need to worry about getting mugged.
  9. that's it MarkE, no accountability, no obligation, no recourse, no service, no consideration for the fare-paying/tax paying passenger, no reduction in bonus for the execs.
  10. the carbon monoxide will spread out across the apartment won't it ? Not sure if there's regulations saying you cannot sleep in a room just because it has a boiler in it. the boiler should be serviced/certificated anyway, right ?
  11. I'm a fan of all fighting to be honest, whether it's boxing, UFC, kick-boxing (especially the Burmese stuff). The UFC is more 'real' than boxing as it's not just about stand-up fighting. Most fights out and about end-up on the floor, so IMO those skills are hugely underated. I don't follow non-boxing styles on TV much though as they're rarely shown (as is boxing). I do look on YT a bit, where you can find such content and also for actual fights, as my interest really lies there. Next time Connor comes round mine for dinner I'll invite you over to call him a 'total prick' tho ! You wanna stretch this thread to cover UFC etc ?
  12. Watched the Errol Spence v Bundy contest at weekend, Spence showed some skill and broke down Bundu finishing with an impressive KO. When I re-watched the card next day I saw a contest which I must have been asleep through previously, it was arguably the best fight of the night. Heather Hardy v Shelly Vincent. An incredible fight in so many ways. If you can find the full fight on YouTube / internet I recommend you watch it. Here's a highlights reel:
  13. Put a contact lens in left eye. Put the other contact lens in (SAME eye, as forgot one was already in that eye). Noticed that eyesight was blurred in that eye so took contact lens out. Realised that I could now see out of left eye perfectly, astonished that it's happened overnight. Called optician to say my eyesight is cured. She said where's the other contact lens ? Looked all over sink/floor, no luck. Found it in my left eye.
  14. 'Spirit Of Ralon - CCTV, tripwires and a machine gun nest guarding the Staedtler pen carousel' captures the store as it was then magnificently !! lol
  15. a decent range of acrylics in ED would save a journey to Camberwell or Atlantic in Brick Lane.
  16. Haha yeah yeah. My comment is regarding the current conversation, which you yourself (in your comment I just replied to!) are identifying "authentic Indian food". If you now want to drag F&C and pizza into it, perhaps that's an indication you're keen to just prove some point (ANY point !). But I've only been talking about the subject at hand - you can bang on about what ever else you want obviously. Yes. Fish & Chips lol. My comments above are merely saying that with 'Indian' food in this country there's more available than we're palmed-off with and having looked around a bit I'm impressed by the authentic fare when compared to the 'trad' stuff - and how disappointing it seems that another High St. curry house will merge into the generic offering available to us in ED (I understand the financial/business reason, that people are generally not interested in real Indian food, that things won't change any time soon, that it'd be unrealistic to expect otherwise). The reverse snobbery is fun to see though.
  17. Prententious = wanting food actually cooked by people from the country who's food the restaurant is purporting to serve.
  18. There's a few similar down that way Jeremy, but I've not got past Everest yet - still working through their offerings. The veggie 'pie' is great, veda is fine, roti (when available) is good, biriyani is good, next I'll try fish 'pie' and further curries. They do a 'veggie plate' and 'meat plate' which are both a plate of rice with various curries of your choice slapped on. There are like 20 curries to choose from, including crab. It's all pre-made, canteen style.
  19. It does seem like just more of the same old actually. Yawnsville, TN. If anybody wants real and decent Indian (Tamil) food, head down to Everest in Lewisham. I just fed 5 of us for ?30, not a 'Korma' (FFS) in sight. No beer, but no problem with that once in a while.
  20. Yeah the food from trad Cantonese takeaways and Silk Road are not comparable in reality, but my point was about genuine / lifelike food. One has the goods while the other (regardless of region of origin within China) has a bastardised normalised version of 'something'. In a way it's like me comparing Everest in Lewisham (a Tamil cafe, which I've yet to promote in Lounge) v a bog-standard Bangadeshi run 'Indian' restaurant.
  21. There is this sense that with 'Chinese' food in this country we're being fobbed-off pretty badly with run-of-the-mill mush. Like Jeremy said, it's a formula and most of us just accept it and buy it. Silk Road made me realise how much shite we're palmed-off with by 'traditional' Chinese establishments.
  22. I'll give 3%pa on anyone who deposits ?10k with me, straight-up.
  23. I like the idea of it as there's some (what looks like) African, West Indian and South Indian food action down there. But a bugger to get to and from by road though. Further along, down Addiscombe way, there seems to be some South Indian action too.
  24. Years back the cafe on Upland was called Ideal since the 40s, it's the one I'd go to if I wanted a greasy but not the absolute cheapest ingredients (which the one by Plough, next to Palmerston, use).
  25. .....and Hong Hong it was. Had wide variety of dishes to share amongst several folks. Most dishes OK, all hot when collected and friendly to boot. . The takeaway on Upland was the place I would have otherwise used - but fancied a change, which required advice from your good selves. Thanks all for tips. Burp...
