  1. Shazza - if you go to the Dulwich Jam you can form 20 bands, all in one night. First time I ever 'played' with 'a band' was there a few months ago, if you wanna make connections it's all there on a plate for you - just get down there and get talking to everyone (and much more efficient than traipsing through loads of musicians one at a time). What's more you can hear dozens of LOCAL musicians playing. Beer is cheap, it's true. Like Otta said, it's real friendly and sans attitude.
  2. I generally use the containers as, well, large containers. There may be some spaces between items, but conveniently that doesn't add weight and I don't mind my purchases having a bit of space around them - after all they do have feelings. I leave the geometric / topological analysis to clever folks, while I innocently get my shopping sorted.
  3. I use one (or two if required, they stack) of those large garden bucket / container thingies. Cart it round and fill it on shopping trolley, empty onto conveyor at till, reload on trolley, push to car, at home lift into hallway and unload from there / drag to kitchen. no bags, no aggro.
  4. Get a quote from a mediator and forward it to the neighbours inviting them to contribute 50% as they are the comms weakness after all.
  5. How about brick up the opening and have a feature front parlour and rear dining room ? (and stick 2 fingers up to the tw@ts next door)
  6. Awful situation. Typical UK Govt strategy - privatisation was never about service delivery and always about getting responsibility off their back.
  7. Yeah but people can't afford to risk their jobs anymore than they already have by perpetually standing around in platforms just to watch a failed train service not turn up. The most important thing is to get in to work for many people and unfortunately Southern can't help with that. So, all alternatives become the only realistic option. If Southern 'win' well good luck to them, but most workers I know just have to find best way into their office. You seriously couldn't invent this.
  8. Golden Yandoori run by the little guy Farouk ?
  9. Bottles of port ?8 in m&s.
  10. He's casing properties. The aggression keeps you at bay, he doesn't want to meet you or encourage an exchange. He just wants your house unoccupied so he can rob it. I wonder how many people got his contact details or arranged appointments.
  11. For anyone interested it's open 0830-1600 every day EXCEPT Xmas day and NY day which are both 1000-1400.
  12. cheers RH, I head form someone that there's reduced opening hrs but didn't get specifics. I'l try tomoro and share what I lean from the boards on the gates.
  13. Anyone know opening times pls ? Have tried the FONC website, which directs you to the Southwark Parks page, which never actually loads.
  14. darn it you could have walked most of the journey in that time - what a shambles !
  15. Want to go to LB by train from ED this morning ? You've an 0730 scheduled, then the following three are cancelled until the 0830. That's ONE train in an hour. Is ED -> LB actually a Southern route ? If not, how in hell is the line subject to heavy cancellations during the recent strikes ?! I thought today was meant to be no strikes.
  16. yeah I've been commenting on the 'long diagonals' recently, often people with prams which seems both stupid and overly self-secure. Just cross at a tangent to the pavement FFS.
  17. Possible from one of the factories facing goose green - didn't Hartleys or some jam company have a building there ?
  18. Which part of "I don't want to cycle" does not penetrate to the bit of the brain that says 'Oh, OK, I recognise that is your CHOICE' ? Back to the strikes - Surely strikes are meant to have a purpose ? What difference does it make to the RMT/workers or the firm responsible for running Southern (or Govt for that matter) whether customers can get to work or not ? My point is if it makes no difference to any of those parties, then why strike ? It's just causing pain to the customers perpetually, with no gain for those in contention in this dispute.

    Cravat

Good suggestions both, thanks. I had a friend in city buy me a new one - ferking expensive, especially considering that nobody wants one these days !! I have become infatuated now so HAD to have one.

    Cravat

Nothing in any of the charity shops. Currently cravat-less.
  21. I think it's down to the establishment. In somewhere like ED a business may be taking a serious risk by banning kids, but it's their choice. I think some people could use a place guaranteed to have no tantrums /kids running around. Especially pubs, especially after tea-time.

    Cravat

LL I think if you'd pulled his cravat off he'd have been pretty pissed-off. How hard did you try ? And did he fight back ? Did you try so that I could use it, if so thanks all the same.

    Cravat

good memory PGC, thanks for the offer, perhaps I'll use it on ED station platform sometime. Clearly no-one want to 'fess-up about actually owning a cravat. I get it. But I did say PM me (and I'll not tell anyone)
