I thought the cameras which flash are the ones which capture speed infringements ? The cameras which check (and punish) for bus lane / markings infringements are higher-up, usually on fake lamposts, to achieve a greater 'target' area. If I'm correct, the flash you saw may have been for someone else's infingement i.e. jumping the traffic lights when red etc. The other (higher-up) cameras, will, as people have already said, just record what they always do and if there's no marking to infringe you should be OK.

I really feel there is a need for a West Tibetan style restaurant to open in the area, somewhere producing lovely fresh momos and creamy butter tea, with perhaps one or two of their fried savouries. It's outrageous that no-one has provided this yet.

Clev hasn't exactly been fighting anyone of high profile when campaigning at LHW. Even Kovalev was unknown by Clev supporters / most boxing fans in UK. The opponents before that were weak if we're to be honest. So if Clev now fights at CW I don't see contests (if held in UK) being any less popular - it's not as if he's going to find yet more day nurses who's hobby is boxing, so the opponents are going to be at least of better / equal quality which means he'll still fill arenas. IMO. I think he's going to be weak at CW, but I would be happy to be proved wrong. CW division is strong, just not popular in UK. Different story in Germany / Eastern Europe.

Well done, this is the post by Computed I was thinking of.

Yeah I read that recently, it could explain why he always looked so trim at 175. But not being a banger at 175 I don't see how he can give (or take) it at 200lbs. Against Lebedev (who took a juiced Guillermo Jones's best) and Marco Huck I wouldn't rate his chances as good, in fact any of the current world cruisers. Maybe it's not a case of looking at it like that though, perhaps he needs to work his way into the weight and look at his option in a year or two. However for him to be talking about a Cruiser world title by end of 2014 is silly IMO, perhaps David Haye should come down and face him (while waiting for 'the big fight')!

"The Gallantry Awards list for 1939 (link posted by nxjen above) also includes details of a 13-hour armed siege in Barry Road, for the resolution of which three policemen received awards." I remember ComputedShorty's description of this fatal incident a while ago. Come to think of it where is he ? I miss his informative posts.

"To promote yourself as a sustainable establishment, telling people about your home grown stock and not celebrate some of that on their own seems odd to me. " I think it's more probably a case of which boxes the establishment thinks it should (appear to) tick to gain local favour, if one box is 'home-grown veg' then great, grow that. This doesn't mean that the veg would ONLY appear as a veggie-only option, the other 80% of menu options (meat) could well be accompanied by said home-grown veg. Arguably the claim to home-grown veg could be substantiated by producing a couple of lbs of veg per week of which very little actually makes it onto the tables of diners.

http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2013/02/11/horse-meat-latest-vegetarians-smugness-at-98/ Horse meat latest: vegetarians? smugness at 98% Routine testing of Britain?s vegetarians has revealed levels of smugness of up to 98% it has been revealed. Traces of self-satisfaction and moral superiority were also detected. ?I?m routinely pleased with myself, said one veggie, ?But now I?m absolutely delighted.? Health campaigners are concerned that the current crisis could prove very dangerous for the most outspoken of vegetarians. ?If this continues,? said one health official, ?it is quite possible they will get a smack in the mouth.? However smugness levels are set to decline rapidly down following rumours that traces of tofu had been found in tahini.

There you go James, sorted.

Seems Magomed has had a stroke since the brain op but is now stable, let's hope it's a full recovery - though I expect from this magnitude of injury boxing is out of the question. Real shame because he's got a young family and was in process of becoming a US citizen in California. Froch v Groves is on 23/11. I'm around that weekend, anyone fancy getting together to watch the contest a la Froch v Kessler 2 ? I'll will contact the Rose later to see if they're shoing the fight, however any other venues likely to show this ?

James, it's a tired old rut that's been done to death and you slot right into it with your holier-than-thou patronising stance. If you think you're 'right', great - be as right as you want, but don't ram your cauliflower cheese or nut roast down everyone else's throat (no pun intended). Add another post to the pertinent other tired old thread if you need to maintain your monologue.

25 yes, but definitely not 10-20 years.

Ooooh it's so morally reprehensible etc. etc. blah blah

deluded meat-eating majority ? hold on, that's most of the population is deluded, compared to you. but you're not - right ?! However, I think this has all been covered (up and down, to death) before on another thread.

AM many takeaways deliver ie. Two Sisters Tandoori, Dominos. It's sort of needed as part of the service, else you have bad days when it rains (which in UK is not infrequent).

fair point, he thoroughly deserved the insults then. what a tit. and dick.

perhaps it becomes abuse when the correction of invalid comparisons morphs into directly calling another poster names like tit and dick, albeit out of 'frustration'.

In my experience of owning Cyprus property for 8 years, this time of year weather is far better than UK, but that's not saying much. As others have said, less guaranteed (as is other Med weather) than some other places discussed.

Trying to buy a house in this area is near impossible
KidKruger replied to Grotty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"Who can now afford a 650k house when you think that banks will lend you 4.5 x your salary. You need 150k joint income and if prices go up another 10% you will need 165k. Crazy." surely most people are taking savings or equity from a previous sale into such a purchase, so the borrowing is not so severe ? prices are still ludicrous, but most people I know haven't jumped straight-in with a 3-bed property purchase and no funds. -
I'd call them and describe what happened, make out you don't have the number plate and see what they come up with / which of their coaches was making that route. I'd note who i speak with and what their insurance company is, and tell them that it's illegal to not stop and share details upon an accident, which is why you're having to having to follow-up by phone.

I missed the fight as I was away, but one that i was looking forward to was Abdusalamov v Perez (as mentioned in previous post). BAD news is Magomed complained of severe headaches after the fight and upon examination a small blood clot was found on his brain - he's now induced into coma while they try deal with it. It's a big shame and possibly a career-ender (or life-ender). Apparently the fight was a proper tear-up where each had their strong periods. I'd always wondered how Mago would do when faced with a live opponent, it now seems he probably has had a few already, but Perez was a beast too. Both showed extreme heart. I think there's an argument for Magomed perhaps having been withdrawn sooner (against his will). Some boxing fans condemn boxers who 'quit' during a fight, which is easy to say sat in a pub, but not quitting can have such dire consequences that no-one will benefit. Let's hope he can make a full recovery, Perez must be in a bad way too because Abdusalamov is devstating and apparently caught Perez many many times.
