    Great Gigs

The Egg at some bar on Hoxyon Sq. on Thursday just gone.
  2. They were bolt cutters ! Not a bike lock.. Anyway glad yer bike's sorted.
  3. Sounds horrible, but to be fair if the sheet was lying down on the ground flat no-one could reasonably expect it to be lifted up and moved through the air by the wind. Having seen it though, the builders should definitely secure remaining items which could be lifted by strong wind.
  4. What's the law on killing a fox in your garden, say with a bow and arrow ?
  5. it's their territory.
  6. sandyman - have cleared a bit of space in Inbox, i have bolt cutters if ya wanna borrow them.
  7. sangod8, going by jane1's posts, she is being harrassed in her own property by someone abusing the right to knock on someone's door. Just because someone can knock on your door legally doesn't give them the right to repeatedly come back after you've said you don't want what's on offer. And what's all this God rubbish ?
  8. Capt - you also said the scratch was 'lovely' which is an insult to anyone who's ever had their car scratched or vandalised, it's tantamount to skipping around their damaged cars going "ner, ner, ner, ner - your car is lovely when it's all bust-up. Ha, ha, ha !!". Have you no feelings ? Shame on you. Also you said the culprit had 'nothing better to do', which is like really insulting cos that could be construed to mean you think you have better things to do with your time than him so therefore you're better than him - he may have been on his way to collect Nobel prize for street aesthetics but no, you slag him down as if he's nowt to do but scratch cars. Have a word with yourself, you're bang out of order.
  9. PVA dries into the brick, you dilute it a bit with water and paste it on woth a big brush (I used a handbrush, like you get with a dustpan, dipping into a bucket of the good stuff). It's messy/splashes, but being water-based, wipes-up easy. You may get a slightly darker tone, but this is natural, just as if you wet the bricks, they'd go dark.
  10. If you mean indoors, I'd (and have): - strip wall to state you want it. - brush it / hoover it to provide clean dry surface. - seal it with unibond or pva as if you were sealing it for plastering (www provides detail) My entire bathroom wall is exposed brick. Only cos at time I wasn't confident enough to plaster it myself, then I thought it's alright, so it stayed.
  11. I called Friday PM at 5.30pm, waited as 4th in queue and spoke to someone in 12mins. The referral I was advised of on 12 August has gone 'astray'. I've called several times since Oct and apparently this week they'll get to the bottom of it.
  12. I'm sure bolt cutters will do it. If its your bike and you can prove it, there shouldn't be a problem. Borrow mine if ya want but I won't have em back until Sun PM. PM me if ya want to use em.
  13. What BNG said. It's not as difficult as one (regular, law abider) would hope.
  14. Darn it, maybe I'll reconsider my basement pool on CP Rd.
  15. depends what you mean by 'banker'. someone who works in a bank or.... ?
  16. don't worry about her, unless you're trimming your hedge the 'wrong' way or not disposing of the cuttings in the most ecologically sound stylee.
  17. Watched the fight on youtube and IMO the stoppage was premature. Groves was in trouble but was still moving and hitting back, albeit clumsily. Froch had been in a much worse bandy-legged state in R1. But the Ref did what he thought was best given what he could see at close quarters. I don't believe the story about Hearn paying the ref ?100K to guarantee a rematch (and force Groves to join Matchroom now that he's left Booth). It'd be a tough re-match, Froch is just at the end of his career and another contest like that he may lose and/or it'd finish him. Good news is Groves is on the ascendency and will another GB fighter to watch for 10 years all being well. Man Froch is tough. ETA: I think Froch was going to win from the point the contest was stopped, no doubt in my mind. But Groves should have had the chance to show whether he could continue, at least a standing count. Froch was also ripped-off here, he knew at that point the fight was his, Groves couldn't hurt him any more and that all he had to do was keeping walking Groves down and finish him like he finished Bute. But froch had the chance to do this taken away from him and in instead he gets a ref stoppage which the entire audience question - leaving him regarded as unfairly winning the fight. Groves can definitely beat Froch, but in that contest he lost and was sliding fast. The ref should have IMO allowed a bit longer though.
  18. had to walk ? that was dead posh, we couldn't afford legs when I were a lad..
  19. I have to put some balance in here. I've called several times over the last 3 weeks. Every time there was a queue of 3-4 people. Every time I decided after 5 mins whether I was prepared to wait or hang-up, depending on what I was doing. Every time that I didn't hang-up I spoke to someone within 9 mins. I think there are many variables at, so keep trying and eventually you'll get through. To save getting wound-up, just hang-up and call later.
  20. DST - sorry to hear this, which part of CPR - it's a big road ! And which side ?
  21. Am in a town in Wilts, none of the pubs showing the contest so we listened on a loud radio - what a thrilling fight ! We were all hopping around the kitchen as first Froch was hurt, then Groves and so on. Can't wait to see this tonight. Possibly a dodgy ending, but Grove's stock will have soared - he sounded sensational and even with a loss gave Froch more grief than all Froch's opponents put together. Iffy rematch for Froch, this.

    Indian visa

"From March 2014 India will be doing visas on arrival" That sounds like a nightmare, you fly for 9 hours and then get told you're not allowed a visa. Recipe for disaster, what with how long you'll have to queue to even find out your visa decision.
  24. The nob of a bus driver this morning (185 I think) who: - St Thomas More hall: refused a guy a ride on the bus because he had no change to pay his fare exactly (what IS the rules on this ? I thought it's up to the driver to have the change and he cannot refuse a ride on this basis only) - ED Station: refused to let a lady get on bus after closing doors, even though people had moved down the bus and he was sat there a fair while with plenty space for her to get on - Top of Dog Kennel Hill: did not stop at this bus stop because there were a couple of cyclists approaching the bus stop in front of him and he could not be bothered to slow-down and pick-up the passengers waiting there (who were all amazed he didn't even try and stop - there was room on bus) - Decided to stop at next bus stop, down the hill, in full view of the people he'd bizarrely left stood at the last bus stop. What is the bus service for exactly ?!
  25. "Perhaps they could fashion one using the old door for 'rail-side' customers to use?" any cafe operating like this may be non-viable. Without option of passers-by using the cafe facility a lot of potential trade will excluded.
