  1. There's already been a thread on actual experiences, the tone this thread took may have inhibited further sharing of experiences. If I have time I'll find the previous thread if your after actual stories.
  2. "My shop was on Uplands Rd. No. 13" What - jeans ?
  3. "Inside leg measurement." Foxy did you used to run that jeans shop on the corner of Cyrena and Whateley, then ?
  4. They've started naming trains now ? That's ridiculous when they can't even make the trains run on schedule. How weird !
  5. Where's that thread on locally-grown produce ? I assume it includes 'erb.
  6. Well if anyone can Virgil can. It's not just down to him though obviously, Khan will have to humble himself to re-learn and even then he has a habit of just getting stuck in to a fight. I admire his heart, aggression, stamina, speed, but when you choose to stand and trade you're ditching a large part of that and exposing yourself to danger. So he has to concede that he's still got learning to do and be able to APPLY it in the ring - all this he has to achieved before his next fight, which just happens to be allegedly against possibly the best boxer on Earth. I think the heavyweight division is going to get a little (and I do mean slightly) interesting in the next 2-3 years. K Bros are departing and the next tier down are shuffling around, posturing and politiking to get themselves in prime position for a title shot. Stiverne and Arreola are fighting for (I think) the WBC strap which Vitali has now given up. Whoever wins that will obviously fight Vladimir to own ALL belts, or will have to face a contender in a defence (and chance of a loss). Until the belts are split-up by single-belt defences, that will be how it runs. However, the standard overall is weak and you have jokers like Deontay Wilder having never fought a top 40 fighter and claiming a right to the battle for the crown(s). It'll all come out in the wash but i don't think this period will go down as a classic time for the HW division !
  7. Bradley is asking for $8m to fight Manny. In their last fight Bradley got $5m. So Arum is looking for cheaper opponents - it's ridiculous. Bradley is the rightful next opponent for Floyd, but with all the politics and manoeuvring... Khan could be a world champ if he'd fought Alexander, Shawn Porter did and now HE's champ ! You'd have to bet Khan loses to Floyd, though Khan's speed will help. Khan's an attacking fighter - exactly what Floyd thrives on, back foot/counters. If Floyd knocks down Khan just once, he's won the fight as he rarely loses rounds. I don't think Khan's got a weak chin at all, when he's gone down, anyone would have gone down - problem is he's open sometimes, especially just after his flurry.
  8. Surely the OP means aspiring working class, rather than middle class ? This is hardly Belgravia.
  9. "Do people get the same about birdsong and chickens in the countryside????? " strangely yes, when I was living in Wiltshire a couple of years ago a mate was complainig badly about the Saturday morning bell-ringing at the local medieval church, he thoight it was outrageous and should be banned ! Regarding airplane noise - what Penguin said. Perhaps you need some bigger problems - to distract you from annoyance over plane noise.
  10. No Otta, the landlord is not the booker. I had a really crappy experience there arranging a show 18 months ago - all comms were with Tim. As a venue had some good nights there.
  11. Ha !! @My final category, the Flannel-Free Award goes to a person who eschewed jargon for a few seconds to say something straight. The runaway winner is Wan Long, founder of Shuanghui International and a global leader in the pork chop space: "What I do is kill pigs and sell meat."
  12. if you're worried about a dangerous structure / danger to people, call the council, you've tried the obvious route and no-one wants to play, so escalate to someone who will.
  13. Pretty sick how the money / assets you graft for all your life, paying tax all the while, doesn't even entitle you to try assist your offspring when you're dead without further tax. I wonder what the final tax % paid is in these circumstances.
  14. Dongle, or USB stick ?
  15. There's a bit of wood with a bit of plastic on it in your yard and you need to ask on Internet how to dispose of it.
  16. "Better", that specific measure used to engineer all great improvements.
  17. If you want a Cor Blimey fruit and veg Guvnor market go to East Street, or Rye Lane for cheap fruit n veg. The Kurdistani chaps running the huge FnV stall at the Rye Lane end of Elm Grove have it all surely (3x cucumbers for a ?, 10x lemons for ? etc.) NC Road is a function of the demographic, obviously. We actually have both options, so nowt to complain about really. Hot dogs, decent pies, mexican food, vietnamese food, Hog roast - maybe not a grocer market but some good nosh and a few luxury bits and pieces. I pick up lunch there most weekends and stock up on fish cakes, bean cakes for the week at not much cost. I'd far rather we have NC market than nothing, we can go 1 or 2 miles away for other markets.
  18. There used to be a website with this sort of stuff on, even more recent than Victorian - but typically it's post mortems of traumatic accidents.
  19. Between them all you can sort most normal jobs, all day Sunday would probably be too much to ask. Number of times it's 1pm+ and you need just one more coach bolt / varnish / filler. We're blessed with what we've got. DON'T question it ! *shudders at thought of closure of DIY shops*
  20. "Best things around there is the farm. Best city farm I've been to" Yes, and also the foreshore there. Get down in that mud and you'll be finding all sorts of old interesting stuff.
  21. if you had a shop / house near the flood area surely you'd be keen to avoid a flood and the damage it can cause - a la The Great Herne Hill Flood.
  22. Louisa, these aren't ?12 burgers you know.
  23. Foxy just take it back and ask for a new (warm) one ?
  24. Sorry I don't get this bit, apols if I'm missing something obvious: "In Scotland the seller has a survey done that is provided to the buyer before they can market the property..." If survey is provided to the buyer before the property can be marketed, how did the buyer find out the property was for sale ?
