Today I learned that the Thai word for ?eat? (?Gin?, the ?G? having same sound as in ?Gun?), must be accompanied by a subject word and cannot be used alone. Ie. Gin khao (eat rice), Gin pizza (eat pizza). Sadly, I had once known this but since forgotten - so naughty me. While I was busy re-learning this, I also learned - as a sort of ?side-learn? - that the word for Eat (?gin?) can also be used to describe drinking, because ?gin? technically means to ingest. However, there is a Thai word for Drink (?derm?). I can?t be arsed to type the actual Thai script, but you get the jist.
