  1. davidh, read the second post on this thread for the information i have to hand. No-one has challenged it. M&S is replacing Iceland at some point during 2013.
  2. I did it for a few months, you can easily park just outside the CPZ near Oglander Road. The station is then a 5 minute walk. Take a drive / walk down one evening and scope it out. I never had a problem finding a space. Presume there is no alternative..like walking? The traffic will drive you nuts.

  4. A bit harsh Fox! Better to ask a simple binary question than wade into the quicksand that is the other thread.
  5. In short: M&S is coming, and Iceland is on a month-to-month rolling contract, I expect M&S within 12 months. From my understanding: Iceland lease coming up for renewal. M&S put in a pitch for taking it over but invest little in this pitch. Pitch rejected for technical reasons (conversion of offices above into flats or somesuch). New pitch being deliberated by Southwark as this is being typed. No idea of timescales. This could be completely wrong and this may be the start of another 10 mile trhead...
  6. Thanks Penguin68. I was hoping they opened later on Thursdays rather than Wednesdays in line with late night shopping.
  7. No card. I know delivery was attempted this morning because I have the tracking number and checked online. If I know the opening times I can arrange to leave work early or come in later tomorrow.
  8. Anyone know the up-to-date opening hours? Amazing that in 2013 this information isn't available on the RM website!
  9. You can informally contest and still pay the reduced amount if you fail, doesn't take more than a form or phonecall. Some councils (e.g. Wandsworth) will usually let you off if it's your first mistake. Personally I would try the informal route, and take it on the chin if you fail, worth a try. The formal procedure is a real slog and one for doing on principle only!

  12. It's very unlikely that anyone will prosecute you for opening the mail. My point is that if you return mail unopened the company will (eventually in some cases) stop and investigate. Secondly, for debt collectors, if you call and dispute it, that often just makes them think you're the person they're after, so the bailiffs will more likely be sent round. If you send the post back (which is all automated mailings) it will eventually stop. I speak as someone who's worked in the industry. Save yourself the stress and just return it unopened Kristen - your case is quite extreme and definately a case for the Police.
  13. How do you know it's insurance documents? Anything that arrives at our house not addressed to us gets returned, unopened, to sender. If you're opening it, technically you're breaking the law. It could just be a mistake by someone buying insurance online and putting in the wrong house number... http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/consumer_w/consumer_post_e/consumer_problems_with_post_e/consumer_problems_with_post_delivery_e/youre_receiving_someone_elses_mail.htm

Fill in the form here, send it off, and as long as you're not a (complete) nutter you should get one http://content.met.police.uk/Site/firearmslicensingshotgunapplications
  15. Ah! All that time and I never made the connection!
  16. Don't need to shave, just drag on some trousers and put on a jacket. No need for socks neither just wear flip-flops or trainers. Anything else is bone-idle and one reason this country is in the doldrums.

Well, licensing bouncers has been a success. TV Licensing on the other hand is a piece of cake to avoid. Bringing back radio licenses would be a farce. I agree there is a need to avoid unnecessary bureaucracy, but there's a very strong case for a new regime of dog licensing with appropriate penalties to weed out the trophy owners. I prefer Annette's approach of an IQ test, but there's some concientious owners who would be caught out by that also...
  20. Top of Lordship Lane, before the Lordship Lane Estate, where the telephone exchange is, around the junction with Overhill Road
  21. Good, I like to hear of people enjoying Istanbul. Ataturk is not the greatest of airports, I flew into Sabiha G?k?en recently which was rather nice although over an hour away by coach from central Istanbul. Of course the nicest way to arrive in Istanbul is through Sirkeci railway station from Greece or Bulgaria. A quick search shows Turkish airline interior to be rather blue, I'm sure the photos don't do it justice. They sound fine to me, certainly on a par with Western European carriers and way above the budget ones. Colour scheme excepted. This thread has reminded me that I've visited Turkey many times but only twice by air.

Wouldn't want to stay long in Istanbul or Istanbul Airport? Istanbul's a fine place to spend some time. I'm not sure how a colour scheme prevents you from sleeping :-) Loads of info here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/turkish-airlines-miles-smiles-641/ especially the first thread. You may be eligible for a free hotel/tour if you change in Istanbul. In summary: On a par with BA and better than EasyJet and the other budget airlines. If you're not a frequent flyer and aren't bothered about airmiles etc. then go for it.
  23. Shred / burn it. There was a case not that long ago of someone being the victim of ID theft by leaving an airline boarding pass stub on a train. Of course the risk is pretty low, but it's an easy one to mitigate.
  24. Yeah that left turn almost caught me out, but thankfully A-Z is up to date and I managed it somehow. Took 45 minutes to Westferry Road so bang on time! I cycle up there most days, takes just 35 minutes, but the drive not as bad as I feared.
