  1. I go away for a few days and this is still going, I did not expect that! Karter, sorry for the delay in replying, a signature is just a way for someone to sign of their posts without having to re-type it every time, like Simon who signs his off "Simon". Ruffers summed it up nicely, I was just doing a bit of housekeeping and some took offence (mistakenly so it seems in one case). No offence was meant on my part and it would be great if this "issue" could not be dragged out any longer.

  3. Good point, please stay on topic.

  5. The specialist one was because there was a ban on the word "cialis", it took us ages to work that one out.
  6. PeckhamRose, we are confused back here, we have allowed you to continue promoting those things (Giving Blood, wills etc) but it seems you are not happy with that decision so we have removed your signature. Now that means that there are no promotional signatures on the forum (as far as we know). Can we draw a line there? Please?
  7. Declan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When had had a link taken away by Admin I was told > the others paid for theirs. I'm confused. Another case of "if they can do it why can't I?" which is why we have put a stop to the free ones. At the time there was an arrangement with the signatoriat, that is not the case any more. And you were advertising a cottage and the rules state business/promotional signatures are not allowed. Blimey, sometimes doing someone a favour can be a right pain in the bum.
  8. Thanks for clearing it up. That is exactly why I asked Sue to remove her signature because others see it and think they can do the same then I have to explain etc etc etc.
  9. Jah, here's steveo's book advertised on the forum: Book for sale - perfect Xmas present - London in the 60s Book for sale - perfect Xmas present for a 60s fan Book for sale - perfect Xmas present for a muso Re: Why don't people write books? For sale - New book - London Babylon To say that I have never allowed him to advertise his book on the forum is incorrect.

Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You should count yourself lucky you're able to > advertise or provide a link to your wares at all. > My good friend and quaffing partner Steveo has > never been allowed to advertise the two books he > has written... What on earth am I meant to think when I read that? That is simply not true. We have sent messages to each other about this and I asked him not to post in the "Items offered" section because he was promoting his book. Why would I stop him from promoting his book? I am simply trying to keep the place tidy and I read a comment like that which is really annoying because it is untrue. Has he been saying that I have banned him from promoting his book? [edited once] (To remove expletive, thank you KalamityKel)
  12. So we should stop the local councillor giving out his contact details in a signature because Sue cannot promote her folk night the same way? Sorry but we will not do that. Sue you have been advertising in your signature for ages and we turned a blind eye to it because it we're friendly like that. As explained to you we frequently get people advertising in their signature, we ask them not to and they frequently come back with "but Sue does, why can't we?". We usally start a dialogue about how it's a legacy thing and we allow it but it has become to much hassle for us to reply to those people every time. We really hoped you would have just said "fair enough, thanks for all the free promotion I had with the signature, I guess I'll just carry on using the What's on section anyway". But you don't, please just drop it so I can just carry on keeping threads on topic, moving threads to the right section and keeping the place tidy for others.
  13. Sorry about the delay in replying to your PM sent yesterday, I have said it to you before, I/we are not online 24/7 to answer your queries. "free" in this case means advertising something and not paying for the advertising. I assume you mean the councillor and his signature, he's not really advertising is he, he states who he is and his email so that his constituents can contact him. Pax :)
  14. I thought we were conducting this conversation via PM but obviously not. I have explained to you twice now why your signature is not longer allowed, we know you are not a business and we know you are an event. I have also explained that it is unfair for you to say that it will be the forum's fault if your event does not attract new people. The forum has nothing to do with your event, we have allowed you to have a free signature for ages now, and now we have asked you to remove it you are kicking up a fuss which comes across as very ungrateful. There is a what's on section, just keep posting your event in there, the same as everyone else. The reason there is not a rule about events in signatures is because that rule would only affect you, so we thought we would politely has a word with you rather than have to add yet another rule. However we have now added "...event signatures are not allowed" to the rules now to make it clearer.

  16. Hi Izodia just to quote a message I posted before... "Last week we had a clean up of the forum database and posts in the wanted section over 6 months old were deleted. The database was 1.4Gb in size and now it's half that and the forum's running quicker. " I have a feeling that if the weddings one was started more than 6 months ago it would have been deleted. Sorry about that.
  17. Hi RosieH Creating a Tedious Smut Room would only encourage it which is not something we wish to do, we would prefer it to be ignored and have to retreat from the forum, rather like someone with an awkward "I've got Chlamydia" tattoo on their forehead at an orgy.
  18. Hi Last week we had a clean up of the forum database and posts in the wanted section over 6 months old were deleted. The database was 1.4Gb in size and now it's half that and the forum's running quicker. Google cache does not cache the forum. Sorry for any inconvenience but we had to loose the old messages.
  19. Unfortunately the original message by NickW has been deleted from its position within this thread. This was an administrative error caused by the fact that complaints received are emailed to us and the "read this message" button and "delete this message" button are too close together and the wrong one was pressed. This was the original message: ------------- Subject: Re: Southwark Council leaflet dropper - unbelieveable! Author: NickW Date: 28/01/2010 12:36 @ryedalema - you are a neurotic, patronizing, over protective mother who is let me guess?.. never wrong. Your comment epitomizes everything that is wrong with East Dulwich. You have so much and yet you still have ago at those that have so little. You are self righteous and far more offensive and undesirable than the leaflet dropper. ------------- Sorry for any inconvenience.

  21. OK, please can we stop this thread from getting any more personal than it already is.
  22. What new information are you trying to post?
  23. Try adding new information about your things, perhaps something that will make people buy them.
