  1. Agreed. Fed up of sitting in smoke and having to keep windows shut.
  2. Random ear worms: Seven nation army - White Stripes Missing - Everything but the girl Gardenia - Iggy Pop Crazy in love - Beyonc?
  3. Just come through Camberwell Green. Couple of hundred kids/young adults on bikes gathered. Police prescience. Any one know why? Looked like bike life perhaps - but on push bikes rather than motorised.
  4. Just spotted the fish and chip shop in Camberwell has been done up and reopened. Now called Fladdas. Looked busy as I came past tonight, but not tried myself yet.
  5. Thanks all. Streatham shop did the trick.
  6. I need to buy a cat carrier this weekend so can't go online. Been to Pets At Home but they only have carriers where the entrance is at the long end. Impossible to get my cat in one of those. So looking for a decent local pet shop with a range of accessories where I might get a top or side opening cat basket. Don't drive so needs to be reasonably accessible by public transport. Can anyone recommend one? Thanks!
  7. I have every sympathy with original poster. My garden is full of raised beds and gets treated like a giant litter tray by neighbours cats. I also have my own cat. She has a litter tray in the house, and i keep a spot of garden unplanted and with loose soil so if she fancies a poo outside she can go there, which she does. But even then I can't stop her pooing somewhere else if she decides to pop over a fence or two. The only alternative is to keep her inside but that doesn't seem very fair.
  8. Completely agree. I did once go to look at the flat next door to the Gowlett. Great flat but I knew I wouldn't have been able to hack living next to the pub so decided against it.
  9. Spotted on another forum, thought forumites might have views https://www.urban75.net/forums/threads/the-gowlett-needs-your-help.351768/
  10. New little place on Rye Lane, corner of cut through to Sternhall Lane, in the old cake shop. Nice little refurb and now the London Meatball Co. meatballs (surprise surprise) but other things too. We had a very nice chicken, bacon and pesto sarnie, and a veggie breakfast with grilled halloumi.
  11. Same thing happened to us two weeks ago round about 130am. Excuse was car been taken to pound.
  12. Can't face going to central London or Kingston today. How's the M&S at Bromley?
  13. We've had builders merchants delivering at 5 on our road, so not impossible. Bloody noisy!
  14. Yes, but half the shop is now a very good sit in cafe serving , I guess, Persian veggie food. Not at all fancy but food is fab
  15. If you can get them to Peckham, Persepolis is great for veggies.
  16. And try Ragam on Cleveland St. Very diverse clientele.
  17. There's one on The Cut I've been to a few times and enjoyed. Can't remember name.
  18. Pretty angry about this. The consultation results show a pretty clear split between roads that wanted and roads that didn't and the council have decided that it's in the best interests of the roads that don't want to make us have one anyway. Apparently we'd just end up wanting one in due course... how kind. But you know, glad others are happy. maybe that great community spirit could organise a whip round for those that can't afford the extra costs this brings with it.

  20. I agree that this is starting to be if nothing else a bit of an irritation. The amount of acrid smoke on our street of an evening is horrid. I'm sure they're all, perfectly legal wood burners being installed - but the smoke builds up and stinks.
  21. Er, it is? Certainly was this morning.
  22. There are two/three fewer indie coffee shops/cafes now. Corals (was Lerryns) has closed, as has Baba juice and, soon, Cafe Viva. The chap who rounds Dewdrop - the little van under Peckham Arch - says his trade has improved since Costa opened, as more people now see he is there.
