  1. Not sure about that racial thing. 'White trash' is another one that it seems like everyone can use as an insult. the children thing is very interesting I told someone off the other day as he came over to the climbing frame bit of the Herne and said 'so this is the fcucking playground then?' needless to say it was 230 on the weekend and full of kids. And the most shocking swearing ive heard recently has been from 4 year old boys. one told me to shut the fcucking door. it was all about his tone. I didnt react at all but what would you have done? should you react so they know it's bad? or just let them get over it? I hate that 'Bitch' thing from rappers. I think that it's mostly just plain mysogny. Finally, it's not swearing so maybe this is off topic but the word 'Gay' is still used as an insult in schools loads, and also amongst adults. I was at a 40th party the other day and it was really acceptable amonst a lot of the adults there to say 'Gay' meaning rubbish. That's really offensive!
  2. It's a brilliant thing. Have a fantastic day. Remember the waterproof mascara
  3. Hear hear Brendan I watched it in exactly such circumstances. Very sad. But also really scary! What's that really tough old rabbit- Sergeant or something that is in charge of the prison camp warren or whatever it is that they get stuck in. That is one scary rabbit. and of course bright eyes at the end to make you cry
  4. Indeed her work is fantastic. But I am experiencing similiar feelings. That is the beauty of the forum though. We useless types can post alongside the great and good. We've seen TJ herself on one thread, and the local councillor on the bag thread. I think that exercise or alcohol will help with regard to the feelings. Or setting a community focussed goal and achieving it.
  5. James I agree. Everytime I am on Bellenden road I think of bell ends. and it makes me titter in a really foolish way even though it is a term exclusively used by school children I would think. and probably not anymore i wouldnt know i'm too old now. but at my school it was used. Although I do like the area- see my other post. and I also agree that ED is not bland. it's like the wild west. except with 3 wheeled buggies instead of horses.
  6. It's a good area if you have little ones. There is the fantastic wildlife centre at marsden road. the wednesday playgroup at all saints church by peckham rye station. all saints church is really friendly, but they are quite full on and into the alpha course! copleston church and centre run lots of classes and a parent and baby group. and theres the brilliant petitou cafe. i cant fault that place.
  7. Totally agree about Wires. It's when he says you got wires... coming out of your skin... makes me well up straight away. And Hurt I agree with- but when Johnny Cash sings it
  8. i cant make this week. sorry
  9. Glad we got all the legal points cleared up. Never mind the nursery, the after school club, the community centre and the residential street for a moment. 'an ill considered site' because all the consideration has been done by Mediquick. What do you think their motivation might be? Of course they want it on site. Remember that this proposed service is not fulfilling a need which has been identified. It's just a business proposition. Which is why anyone with a vested interest should make their views known to the PCT. Which they are doing, but who knows what the final decision will be.
  10. Hats off to you Charlie for that Wierd Al knowledge. he just went up in my estimation, not that he was ever that low in it. You'd never get Wierd Al winning ex factor would you. Sad.
  11. Ah Ganapati, the quiet voice of reason. as ever. I agree with you entirely. But Clairese22, Dom- perhaps we need a national curfew? After the breeding licence has been approved, and the children are born, then they are micro chipped at birth, and if caught out in a public space after 8pm then their parents are publicly whipped?
  12. I thought my point was fairly clear. but i shall reiterate: Regardless of one's personal opinion on drug users and their predicament, This is clearly an ill considered site for the 100 hours pharmacy. and CWALD, who knows the consultation process for an alternative therapy centre- perhaps it depends upon the licensing procedure for snake oil? But as pointed out by Bawdy nan back on page one of this most impassioned thread, this is a pharmaceutical service and it is therefore a statutory requirement that consultation takes place.
  13. I agree that 'licensed to breed' comment is sooo offensive I cant believe it's still on here. Or is that some kind of (failing) attempt at humour? Did you read what you had read before you posted it?
  14. I might be able to make it.. I'm excited!
  15. no i think it's typical journalistic scaremongering. Good news is no news after all. But equally i dont think you should either endorse or condemn this application without finding out the full facts. Which is what BARA wanted to do after all. Surely endorsing it purely because you sympathise with users and their predicament is as 'unfounded' and 'ridiculous' as the nimbyism you are so quick to villify? Finally I think that this thread is missing the point about Mediquick's empire building in this area. Nobody identified a need for this service....they just want to expand their business. One of things you see on the forum all the time is the 'antichain' issue. Mediquick are trying to become a medical chain in South London and who knows where else. This is just one of their proposals and look how badly it's been handled. They didnt inform the local community of the application, and as pointed out before on this thread, they or the PCT had a duty to.
  16. reactionary know nothings? Pot..........kettle............... were you at the meeting? or perhaps that might have brought you too close to some actual facts or even real members of your community? if only we could get rid of all these foolish petition signers then we might get back to the real old style ED withough expensive pushchairs and crappy gift shops and (fill in your own blank) eh? .............ad infinitum......
  17. wow. the forum is for venting though after all. But as we all know, good news is no news. How many people are going to be on thread that says ' o the other day all the kids in the cafe were really well behaved'? personally, if you offer me some kind of courtesy in a public space then i'm going to thank you. But if there are 2 kids in my buggy and 2 walking along with me and they are all under 5 then the chances are i'll have my work cut out watching them all and I may neglect to hand out praise for some fabulously selfless behaviour such as moving to one side of the pavement. consider me chastised.
  18. Wow! 2 games of super scrabble! gutted to have missed it.

  20. Indeed Jessie, it's all most riling. even if this is clearly the post of a WUM 2 minor points cdonline...... The Herne has a PLAYGROUND in the garden who do you think that might attract? And what about the gay mums? or are you royalty and therefore dont beleive they exist?
