Not the civil servants. Civil Servants (and I know a few) have a job to do and they just do it - they don't make policy.

If it was done Liddington would do it IMHO If it did happen it would be very sudden and shocking - but sudden and shocking things have happened more than once in my lifetime.

It's like the EU bangs some sense into her then she loses it again a few days later. She was still going on about "my deal or we leave on the 12 April with no deal" this morning though.

Agreed that the 29th March date is still in UK law. The 12th is aimed at parliament taking control if Mays deal fails or never gets voted on again. EU was planning on calling a special summit next week but after being horrified by May's performance in her interview decided to act now.
  5. Farage claiming on Sky News it's full of Russian signatures (he has a cheek). Adonis disagrees of course. You can still only compare like with like and a leave petition for no deal got about 400K - a leave petition hijacked by remain just after the referendum on a new referendum if less than a certain % voted got 4 million.
  6. "Nicola Sturgeon, the SNP leader, and Michael Heseltine, the former Conservative cabinet minister, are amongst the keynote speakers due to address the end of the People?s Vote march on Saturday, where hundreds of thousands are expected to attend. Other political figures include Labour MPs Jess Phillips and David Lammy; Conservatives MPs such as former cabinet minister Justine Greening; the former attorney general Dominic Grieve; the Independent Group MP Anna Soubry; the Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable; and Green MP Caroline Lucas. Speeches are due to begin around 2.45pm in Parliament Square with a feed relayed to large screens in Trafalgar Square."
  7. Strangely Corbyn is still in Brussels "negotiating his deal". Maybe someone needs to get May and Corbyn together, read the riot act then knock their heads together.

"Latest from Brussels: May has been in the room with the rest of the EU leaders since 330 -- she's expected out shortly and then the leaders will discuss among themselves what they want to do" It's like school and she's been a naughty girl.
  9. The petition won't do anything on it's own, it has to be taken in conjunction with other things. I still have a suspicion we may have to go through a no deal for at least a while before we know the effects (starting next Friday). Ireland has had ships bringing supplies into Dublin for months I hear - we're going to wing it.

Temporary (I think she'll go straight away rather than stay until another is elected) - Liddington. He'd be the one to agree a longer deal or even revoke (contradicted May only last week). After that I hope we never find out and some kind of structural change happens. Andrea Leadsom, Boris Johnson or Esther McVey are unfit in my view. I notice Jeremy Hunt has been saying May was tired and stressed - we know why :). Javid is an opportunist. Who else is there .. Rudd, Raab (seems a favourite with the leavers). Maybe Barack Obama could come over (suggested in jest on Sky this morning) - outsource our leaders. Edit oh and I almost forgot Gove. Yeah.

Read between the lines of Lisa Nandy's article and you can see the devastating effect of that speech - she's obviously changed her vote. The ERG see a no deal within their grasp. The DUP haven't moved. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/mar/21/theresa-may-prime-minister-democracy-mps

Bercow "None of you is a traitor... the sole duty of every member of parliament is to do what he or she thinks is right" Okay it sounds like a bit of a life coach type thing but he's right.
  13. Down for maintenance - I don't think its a conspiracy, we just broke the site :) https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/21/petitions-site-crashes-after-thousands-back-call-to-revoke-article-50
  14. Rumours that there are twice the amount of coaches from outside London as last time.

could she resign tonight, more likely telling us all to prepare for no deal.

The ultimate humiliation now .... In Brussels some EU officials are now saying that EU leaders will not even take a decision about extending article 50 tomorrow - because Theresa May sent her letter too late.

LOL we agree - French foreign minister rolling back a bit on Macron's original statement (as the French do) - but can't see them granting an extension as she has nothing to offer.

Loser of a PM to make statement also.

Tusk to make statement at 4PM - probably to confirm no extension allowed.
  25. Wonder how Saturday will go after today's disaster.
