Maybe the constitution of Spain needs to be changed and an official referendum set-up (otherwise we might see a re-run of nationalist versus republican. International order seems to be getting fragile

I can only guess that these jobs are seen as student jobs/young persons jobs or a gateway in to a further role as I suppose you have to be living with parents to survive on these rates (or be in a large house share). I feel guilty I'm spending more in the pub per hour than they earn in that hour. :(

Some talk today has moved on from the P45 etc. to Theresa Mays bracelet featuring Frida Kahlo (feminist, communist, sometime girlfriend of Trotsky) http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/theresa-may-frida-kahlo-bracelet-communist-cough-conservative-conference-a7982931.html

I hope they get some kind of offer from the company - they're mostly young and have put so much effort into this.

Not on the living wage - just the threat to sack anyone who strikes hasn't materialised I think.

I still half imagine someone poisoning her water, bribing Lee Nelson, and loosening the F and E, that's not true however as she seems to have tweeted a picture of loads of cough medicine in her case. Alastair Campbell claims Doctors should have sorted that (and did for TB). "TB got through 2 big speeches with flu, and most of an entire election campaign with a slipped disc (see volumes 1-6, can?t remember which)" "There will be a lot of sympathy re her cough but it is also shocking preparation. Doctors can sort for an hour"

It's as if someone was trying to sabotage her speech I'm actually impressed she came through - that was a nightmare.

Theresa Mays speech "Here's your P45 Mrs May" (she takes it) "Boris Boris tell her that you told me to do it" as prankster gets thrown out Theresa May then launches into long coughing fit Actually the content was OK http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-41466961

Boris, Do you want to get sacked ... yes I suppose. All the Tories pretending nothing happened :)

She said that before - but she definitely dodged today - maybe somethings up Daily Politics just now some person pointed to the biggest negative part of the migration graph and said 'that's for remainers' slightly higher 'that's for criminals' and at the immigrant part 'that's for people we want in the country' The presenter said 'that's a well thought out comment' - did she even listen

Sky News were asking Theresa May about Las Vegas this morning so they decided to ask about Boris too - and she expected it. His speech has been seen by No10. She didn't really answer about whether he's sackable or unsackable. It's an almost impossible question and she did well to dodge it.

The above wasn't serious of course ... unless I got a call out from India at 6:00 so I was thinking how many tech guys in our company speak English as a second language yet must use it as it's the corporate language and how different they are when speaking - the Indians use Sir a lot and can be very formal, the Germans prefer Mr xxxx rather then firstnames. Edit: and the US people are relentlessly positive :) We do have some Customer Service Managers with excellent English skills - eloquent and lovely to hear in a meeting - but as a techy that's never going to be me - I'm more likely to learn more IT skills.

Maybe we should have formal in Issues/Gossip and informal in Lounge.

I agree, in it's proper place, personally I don't count online with predictive text as a proper place. It isn't something I care about - rather like talking proper in the pub, formal versus non formal. but each to his/her own :)
  20. Serving in order at the bar - gawd this annoys people. I waved my hands above my head at another pub once shouting "me, me, me" .. they took it all in jest :)

Spellings bunk too then IMHO :), but I reserve the right to sometimes talk in the Queens English (there, their, they're of course I know the difference but .... too lazy sometimes, or working whilst posting ;)) and as long as a post is intelligible I don't really mind (I never criticise the way people speak either (colloquialisms, gangsta)) It's all OK. My pet hate is no paragraphs, can't read that. This thread is about drunken rants even when sober.

He'd abolish tuition fees 2. He'd look at post graduate student debt No lies there - anyway he never got called on any of it - you need to actually be voted into power and chuck most of your manifesto promises to be a liar (Mrs May). Oh and sorry UG but punctuation is bunk :) I only pretend to speak good English to pass exams and write letters etc. - else I regress to bad SwanseaSpeak as in "you what" when I can't be arsed to answer (sober rant there).
