Henry Bolton elected as new leader of the Premier League, I mean UKIP https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/sep/29/henry-bolton-elected-new-leader-of-ukip who even is he ?
  2. OK Here's a critical articles on Gentrification (I dwelt on nice things above) https://www.theguardian.com/housing-network/2017/mar/24/gentrification-kings-cross-forces-people-from-housing-crisis remember "But eventually, you too are likely to be priced out and displaced."

The article below from 2016 can be updated, we have foxtons now, we still have a few fried chicken places but loads more pizza places, loads of flats being built, coffee houses (nice small ones). So we're in the nice phase but as the OP states some people being forced out already . https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/sep/24/the-bubble-that-turned-into-a-tide-how-london-got-hooked-on-gentrification

Whistles softly :) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1200473/Police-ban-yellow-signs-reduce-fear-crime.html Been in Peckham since 2007 and never had any issues (2011 during the rioting I couldn't get to my flat as there were a row of police blocking Rye Lane - and I had to wait - with the looters).

All a matter of perspective, really. I think Costa on Rye Lane is overflow for Wetherspoons sometimes :) I like the little coffee shops though - the one opposite my flat had written on it "patrons welcome to stay all day" (don't know if it's still there as it's only small).
  7. Sainsburys one does charge a percentage - but that's where I do mine.

Canada press questioning if Canada should be in Aerospace. If Airbus pulls out of UK - I doubt UK alone could compete in that industry either. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/sep/03/britain-aerospace-sector-could-be-priced-out-after-brexit

Well EU and USA have been accusing Boeing and Airbus of getting government subsidies - but no tariffs just moaning. Maybe something to do with trade agreements, but to me USA have picked on the little guy (Canada) and they must have known Northern Ireland was collateral (and with the DUP issue it's like a kick below the belt to the Government) UK won't/can't have as much clout as the EU - Every time they fine a large company (like Apple) I can't imagine the UK doing that alone.

  11. My flats are really noisy but it only bothers me occasionally - but you can close the double glazing (I like it open though). Not for families - but OK for singles and young couples. The 3 bedroom ones do seem to be for families though.
  12. They never give discounts for noise :) look at these prices wow. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/East-Dulwich.html

I agree - we seem to not try - just blame EU. Corbyn is ideological - it's difficult to criticise him for that as it's what he has always been. He has a power base in Labour now though. It's worth noticing that everywhere he goes Remainers with EU flags are following him :)

Well all the things he wants to nationalise can't be done under EU law technically - although France has got away with it.

So during the AfD (right wing) party news conference after their breakthrough in Germany the Co-Leader picks up her bag, smiles and walks out :) Brexit link - Merkel is going to be spending the next few months organising internal politics.
  17. Is that a football match or a joust going on in the Penge pic Some things don't change :)
  18. It seems competition is required but Uber do have some dodgy practices Maybe black cabs are touristy :) I do recall 10 years ago getting a black cab (last taxi ride i did) from London bridge to Peckham and the retort was 'what you want to go down there for gov'

At that time I cared about the UK - now it feels like the UK is broken and I'm not that bothered if it split up into chunks (which would gradually get consumed by the EU under more federal agreements anyway)

Well extra two years (if they let Theresa May have it) Could it really just be a case of kicking the can up the road and hoping.
  21. Just read Uber wants market share and fast (it's making huge losses) so it is in pole position to implement driverless taxis. https://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2017/07/10/uber-has-pole-position-in-race-to-develop-driverless-cars/#56355e5c7ab0 so then the driver issue goes (along with those jobs too) - and we are apparently not far off.

Looks like JP Morgan has started down the long road of moving to Warsaw. https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2017/09/22/business/22reuters-jpmorgan-poland.html May just isn't seeing whats happening.
  24. Once Uber was the only taxi company left prices would soar - it makes a loss at the moment. Maybe encourage the competition then let them back when they have no chance of a monopoly.
