  1. Always liked the Specials - but thought they sang about Coventry not ED.
  2. Yep - thats how I go now. Caught the 436 straight there from Peckham once or twice to save on zone 1 ticket - but still took an hour. The train ticket to London Bridge included the cost of the tube to paddington I think. 3. Thought all that ended with the breweries being forced to sell their pubs in the 80s (remember when each pub only sold the drinks from the brewery that owned it). Seems like the old breweries just sold on to a new set of monopolies. 4 quid a pint is more than I can pay most nights mind (credit crunch isn't it) - Weatherspoons Birmingham @ Broad Street last night (working here this week) was 1.89 for Fosters and not much more for the rest and not a bad Weatherspoons as they go either. Seems to be huge variations. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ?4 for a pint?! 7. Sold to a property developer Rather sad as I used to like this pub.
  8. Any Welsh fans daring to watch the second Wales - SA match away from home.

If it happens every day and close to home you tend to find the fear and anger ratchets up until you will become permanently on edge - waiting for the next disturbance. I'm not at that stage yet but the whistler loves to stand just outside - I'm tempted to throw pistachio nuts at him from the 4th floor.

I always feel rushed these days and end up feeling humiliated if I'm left waiting like an idiot I see whats wrong then - maybe I need to chill :)

  14. Was at it again tonight - same junction (Heaton Road/Rye lane), can of beer in hand - shouting at cars and buses. He'll be sectioned at this rate !!!!
  15. Seem to be those cars sitting right behind buses that don't know the road that go through. I can see it from my window and not that many go through it mind :)
  16. Hey - I'm on the fourth floor in the front - but working in Cardiff at the moment. He'd better not have hit my Window Grrrr. Hope its a one off. Anyone informed Tower Homes (They run the place) - Edit: Thank you Elizabeth.
  17. A girl was reduced to tears on the 12 recently - she and her friend got off before their stop after being accused of being posh and asked why they were in South London. Guy that did it got off at the Kentish Drovers pub. Was not impressed at all.
  18. They (the BNP) have an assembly member too :( http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/london-assemblyresults.do?=44
  19. If its being done by children who know no better then I care in the way I care about any grafitti If its being done on shops owned by particular racial groups then I feel it maybe a bit sinister - the next phase might be smashed windows etc. Think we all know what this symbol in this context means.
  20. Lived in Coop House - bottom of Rye Lane snce November - no run ins with locals of any sort - although someone did smash my car window once (in the secure car park too). Don't feel threatened round here at all (in the way you seem to in Gypsy Hill) - I even had a pint in Peckham Weatherspoons once (strange place). Rye lane is noisy though.
  21. Never turn into the lane before the bus lane disappears - but you can be sure others have - so have to be really careful moving into the lane (they'll be coming up to 'undertake' you). No cameras eh.
  22. Hi Sean/Elizabeth Are you both living in Co-operative House. I'm on the fourth flour - and the noise does seem to rise when my patio doors are open (lots of beeps at the junction as well as the whistler) - Still unsure him - saw him block a young womans path ysterday (but only to smile at her).
  23. If 3 children inherit one house - I think the estate might have to be liquidated - meaning its the wrong time to die surely. My grandmothers house got sold for a pittance in the early 90's and apparently holding on to it for rent was not an option.
  24. I hear him all the time - thought it was a drug dealer calling out customers when I first moved here:) until I saw him at street level.
  25. I love a good whinge so :) .. Whinge start living in the Peckham Co-op (as the utilities call us) I go around that one way system every time I go out. Worse are deliveries mind - None of them know where to park and so they all park on the double yellow there .. and whinge at me when they get a fine. Whinge over.
